"Everything on this guy is like a worse version of what Kim can do." Max succinctly describes why Gang-Il is the actual least popular character from this game.
@@Slasher9485 I recall seeing a semi-official SNK poll where Gang-Il was the second least popular character, but #1 was Verse who's less of a character and more of a force.
11:18 My favourite super in the game. The attention to detail that of the 56 hits this super does, the first 2 of them are melee, the first card is presumably a Joker, the next 52 of them are him throwing an entire standard deck of 52 cards, and the last one is the other Joker 😵
That's impressive seriously and Yamazaki didn't learn any martial arts and yet he can beat the crap out of you. That's goes to show how dope Yamazaki is. Seeing him KOF XV got fans shocked especially ShoryuGame. He's glad to have his boi back and I'm glad cuz I like Yamazaki.
@@blizz44 To be fair Yamazaki well according to Shoryugame is one the best fighting characters ever created and I respect that. Having the sickest climax supers which is always a 10/10 or higher than that, fights without any martial arts not to mention he hates it and yet and do serious damage and have interesting personality that suits him I can see why people love Yamazaki. I'm happy for Shoryugame and other Yamazaki fans who are happy to see Yamazaki back in XV. Yamazaki is also interesting how he has a connection with the fatal fury series since that's when he was first introduced and the kof characters like the orochi team.
I just wish his Triple Geyser would return where punches the ground three times for three geysers rather than one Power Geyser thats hits three times. I always liked that super.
With regards to that K’ level 3, I am a huge fan of supers where the character tells the opponent to run away because they don’t want to hit them with it, but they can’t control it. Like Nago’s Blood Rage super
It never occurred to me that Nagoriyuki is actually telling the opponent to run so that they don’t get hit. It seems so obvious thinking on it, considering that he literally says “Run as fast as you can” and “Get away from me!”
Yamazaki has always been one of my favorite characters from KOF. Such a badass mix of a yakuza / biker gang leader and a smartass sadistic killer. Awesome character.
And it gets better tho the prop that hits you with in his level 3 climax changes with the arena. Details like those nobody mention that maje this dlc worth the deal
Chang's level 3 is one of my favorites in the game simply for how he reacts when his opponent falls back down to Earth. I also love Clark's Super Argentine Backbreaker in this game moreso than its previous iterations because of its rhythm. It looks really funny if you do it on Sylvie.
I like the supers in this game, but nothing can compare to B. Jenet's new one in XV. The shoe beat down is one of the funniest non-anime supers I've seen.
KOF literally have multiple anime adaptations. I know what you mean by "anime" but it technically always have been. Same shit with Tekken being korean anime.
I loved how STUNNED Max was after he did Xanadu's Level 3 that he just said nothing and went to the next character. Can we all agree that he gave it an 11 out of 10?
Someone should go into KOF XV ranked and fight Max using Chris, Meitenkun and Athena. His annoyance would be off the charts. Also, if Sylvie ever makes it into the game, obviously replace Athena with her, duh.
Ikr? Such a waste of potential. Doesn't mean to be rude, but my point is... They're just reusing assets from KOF XIV, at least put some effort to make a new one. And i don't see the point why they didn't include all base roster from XIV, since they literally has the same animation. Imagine if they are doing a gimmick, like Bandeiras, Nelson, or Mian as unlockable/secret characters or something. That would be dope af.
I'm really loving this week of pure KOF content. I love to see new people getting attracted to the franchise now that it's newest game is launching pretty soon
Xanadu's Level 3, Max's reaction, and me rewinding repeatedly trying to process what I've beheld... I am LAUGHING SO HARD!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 God, I needed that! Thank you for this gift!
I think the fact that Rock Jojo poses, he gets the wings, kicks your ass with and ultra and gives you a spirit gun from yuyu hakusho gives alone grants him a 10/10
It looks like the XII to XV’s XIII (I.e., in both cases the devs were using the game to test out a new art direction to be refined later in the series)
@@jakuth99 well at least they put more effort in 14, it has more content, and has an actual story while introducing new characters like kukri and luong who became fan favorites.
Max, Sylvie's shtick is she's a busted product of NESTS that's missing a few of her marbles. Hence her loony as fuck costume. The weird start to her big super is basically her brain rebooting.
I know this will sound super rude but I'm speaking from the heart when I say none of that will matter while at the character select screen or during gameplay. For one, all people are going to see is a weird anime girl in a stupid outfit doing zany stuff, which will be incredibly polarizing for most and downright obnoxious for those not into it. But on the other hand, the addition of being a J-Pop will move her down to being a nuisance for most if they were to find that out. This is something I've explained before on Sugarpunch's channel, but Japanese Idols are an incredibly niche thing in the West no matter how you slice it. It takes normal celebrity worship over here in America and cranks it up to 11, then injects it with a creepy, nearly voyeuristic level of adoration that you're EXPECTED to have so the idol can sell more products. A lot of people are not going to be able to get behind that, so when they see Sylvie, well...
@@Impalingthorn nah, I getcha I'm just happy to share info if I know any other potential origins of something, hopefully delving too far into the "umm... ackshually" territory lmao
34:20 Easily a ??? out of ten. The fact that he's completely speechless for what he just witnessed and immediately just said "nope, just straight up no to ALL of this. I'm done" is easily the best one in my opinion.
Love seeing Max play through all the KOFs! I haven't played much of 14, I literally just bought it on Steam a few months ago (yeah I know, I'm hella late), but it's fun to play trying out all the combos/supers together. I'm like whatever on a lot of the newer characters and glad they didn't make it on the KOF tbh. Now if I could just beat the game at least once without it crashing on Steam smdh! It's all good though, I pre-ordered KOF XV deluxe edition 😅
A couple things to keep in mind: 1. KoF14 supers are designed to be combo'ed one after the other, typically several times per match, so they can't be full-length cinematic experiences without completely bogging the game down. Whereas a Samurai Shodown super can only be attempted once per match, and probably won't hit regardless, so it can be a deservedly extravagant event. And 2. Some of these were the first supers that ever existed in fighting games. So to say they're not very creative is like saying classic rock isn't very creative. All that having been said, Benimaru's supers always suck, and Joe's consistently get let down by their effects. The art team never seems motivated when it comes to Joe Higashi.
I always loved Ralf since I saw his Bareback Vulcan Punch super in KoF XI which was the first KoF game I bought after CvS 2 introduced me to KoF characters.
Man, even though they did a lot of work to improve the visuals of KoFXIV, the difference between XIV and XV really is night and day in terms of visual quality. Anyone who still says XV doesn't look good is out of their mind.
#1 Tung Fu Rue's God Hand #2 Blue Mary's Dynamite Swing (Always a classic) #3 Chang's Spin around Special mentions, Whip's acrobatic act & Tuxedo Guy's gravity trick (it should end in a kick with the opponent flying and spinning for a 10 & #1)
I forgot when I first made my comment to make this one, probably been 3 years now since I started my comment chain! Finally you made KoF14 rate the supers! *Visible shaking* Now where's Tatsunoko vs Capcom rate the supers?
One thing about Ralf climax that I only noticed pretty much recently is that he apparently Says "Mission... Accomplished" when walking out of the fire (which makes it 10x better)
Since kof 13 I don't know why they removed the animation of triple geyser. It sucks because seeing Terry punch the ground with each consecutive geyser is cool.
I remember back during the Terry Legacy Max saying he would do a KoF XIV rate the super, but he never got to it, probably cause he was distracted enjoying XIII. But its finally here, right before XV. Can't wait to hop on that one.
I know Max is really hard on projectle supers, but I personally rate them a little higher if the projectile looks interesting. I think it's cool when you can make a beam super more than just another beam super if you get what I mean. So like, the super at 38:46 would fit here cuz that looks dope as hell.
*Mui Mui* became my insta favorite of the newcomers the moment I saw her Supers. She is a full Dragon Ball reference 🐲🐉 Which makes sense since her franchise *Dragon Gal* and the classic Dragon Ball were both inspired by Journey to the West. I am going to miss her and Love Heart the most... Both gals are not longer from SNK 😢 At least they were playable in SNK Heroines.
Just gonna put this out there for a historical lesson. So the multiple hit combination attack that Ryo, Robert, Yuri, and Takuma do is called the Ryuuko Ranbu. It's the move Max compared to a Ultra Combo from Killer Instinct. While the comparison is somewhat accurate even though the way you go about achieving them is slightly different, the visuals of the move looks similar. But a point I would like to make is Art of Fighting, where Ryo, Robert, Takuma, bad Yuri are from, came out in 1992 and featured this type of super move finisher first because Killer Instinct came out in 1994. So most people I know call any super that has a character charge at a opponent and do a flashy combination of blows automatically without player input during the animation a Ranbu super. Ultras require certain buttons to be pressed to alter it or get it going. If you wanted a closer comparison, Geese's Deadly Rave is way closer to an Ultra Combo since you need to continuously press different button sequences to successfully complete it. Just saying for clarification a d for anyone who cares.
I swear, man. This was one of the WEIRDEST KOF games I've ever seen. Sure you have your established favorites, but SNK took a LOT of liberties with this game in terms of the new characters. I mean...goodness. HATTORI BANDERAS?! And you just see how appalled Max looks with Xanadu who is just...well...hard to explain. I'm liking the roster of XV much better, to be quite honest. Can't wait to play it! But yeah, Max did a good job with this "Rate the Super." Kudos!
I think out of all the characters that makes me sad to not see return to KOF 15 (at this point since we don't know the final two teams yet) are Chang, Kim, and Oswald. Also Geese's butler since he was certainly a fun addition (and kind of a shame we don't see him return either). As for "Could any of these guys come back as the last two teams?" I feel like Oswald is probably the only one who stands a good chance unless if it turns out Kim is going to get a massive glow up (with even baggier pants). Meanwhile, part of me even questions what team you can place him in if he was only apart of the "Hero" team in KOF11 with Ash and Shen. But hell, if he was a former assassin who had since retired, it could be a fun reason to pair him with Rugal just to put together a team of bad ass older guys (but now sure who you would make the third in that team).
I know its been years since I've touched a KOF games but damn, there are soooooo many new characters to the roster or just characters I have not played since the 90s. LOL. Nice!! Personal shoutout to Nakoruru - she's always been a favorite of mine in whatever iteration of game she's in - I prefer her partner with the wolf over her bird though. Too bad her special kind of stunk her. C'mon - she's supposed to bring on the bloodshed, the cape attacks and the flying aerial attacks to her opponent.
I really liked the glass break as king of dinosaurs jumped so high he hit the ceiling. I wonder if it still does that if you use it on an outdoors stage.
Anyone else want Max to rate the supers of games he wouldn’t normally play, just to see him have to play? Obviously this would just be for a one off thing like the central fiction videos but it’d still be fun. Me personally I’d like to see a rate the super on arcana heart 3 since there’s like 70 supers that could work and I can see Max having some funny commentary with the game. Can’t wait to see your opinions, it’s always fun to read them.
im probably the only person who likes Sylvie. and i sadly realized she didnt come back in KOF15 despite one teammate did, maybe the dlc? also Xanadu gets my award of "why is this guy here? he is clearly not well and should get help." award. also beating the final boss with his ultimate is kind of hilarious.
Don't worry, you're not the only one that loves Sylvie. I love that cute little weirdo as well. I kind of feel like I'm one of the only people who loves Alice sometimes and I'm super sad that her and Sylvie didn't return.
@@ArcRay20 Yeah, Alice Garnet Nakata is her full name. She basically idolizes Terry and decided to take up fighting herself because of it. Her fighting style is a self-taught style called South Town Arts and is a mixture of moves from Terry, Andy, Joe, and even Rock Howard.
