I guess he's just not used to it because he's a Swede, since Sweden has pretty much always just been Sweden, so there's not much war/independence for them to sing about.
"Rating National Anthems" more like "People getting offended for not having their national anthem in the video, and then when it's in the next part, they get offended because Roomie didn't like it"
It's amazing how salty people get, he doesn't know the history of every single country in the world. I'd like to meet any average person who knows the history behind the anthem of every country in the world 😒 He makes videos rating music based on his taste, he doesn't have to like or know everything 🙄
We got colonize by japan too cause they wanted our land lel- And also Americans, after the good thing we did to them... (Well technically our ancestors but ya get the point)
Yabancı memleketlerde bile dinleyince bile hayran bırakan bir milli marşımız var. Marşımızda normal bir şekilde okuyunca anlayamayacağımız ama dikkat edince ve düşününce bulabileceğimiz bir çok anlam var
“There are a lot of things Germans can’t say.” Part of it is singing the first stanza of the anthem. It’s not forbidden but heavily frowned upon since it says “Germany over everything” which might not be a big deal for other countries’ anthems but after WWII its very unusual to ever sing this part and often in relation to Nazis. though, the third stanza which was played is the official anthem and neither the 1st or 2nd stanza is ever sung (i don’t even know what they say as a german myself oops)
The first one is not just problematic because of the "Germany above everything in the world" part, the stanza also defines Germany as the territory between "Maas" (Netherlands) and "Memel" (border between Lithuania and Kaliningrad/Königsberg) as well as between "Etch" (northern Italy) and "Belt" (Denmark). Also the Nazis used only the first stanza in combination with their party anthem, the "Horst-Wessel Lied", which heavily recontextualized its meaning.
@@rileyamsler3585 It was written before the Nazis. The melody is from Joseph Haydn, written in the late 1790s, and the lyrics are from the "Lied der Deutschen" (Song of the German), written in 1841.
@@rileyamsler3585 It was written when "Germany" was still a collection of sovereign monarchies and free cities, before we were even united under Prussia. It's essentially a call for a unified german state. It wasn't used as an anthem however until after WW1 by the Weimar Republic.
Thing is the "us" part was part of the original lyrics. They changed it back during the war as a way to pump up the men I guess. So they just kinda made it more authentic by switching it back.
I'm from Malaysia and I expect the worst. But seeing the rating of my country's anthem as 6.5/11 made my day. I always thought it was slow and has a boring tempo on it. Glad that professional artist like you gives an okay verdict. Proof that Negaraku is not as lame as everybody thought it was.
@@TitaniumTronic china were lucky becuz our Pres. Digong will fight for that sea till death but china is the Top 3 most powerful country in the world and philippines is on Top 51, Our president dont want to Start a war because he is concern about the lives of his fellow Filipinos but if we maybe on the top 4 this is a war i guess.
Cuz Filipino soldiers is proven to be strong, Brave, and Smart like wut Gen. Douglas McArthur says “Give me 10,000 Filipino soldiers and I will conquer the world.”
@@mateusvaz22 I guess there's less chance of insulting if it's smaller less known countries. Also, how are they supposed to decide which ones to do with the more medium sized countries? So they just do random countries.
Yea I know but Brazil is the fifth biggest country in the world and he has featured “ai se eu te pego”, a Brazilian song, in a bunch of videos and that song here is actually kinda of a meme here so cmon he can rank our anthem
The Canadian National anthem was actually changed some years ago, the line "all our sons command" was changed to "all of us command." It took me a bit to get used to, but i think it's a pretty nice change.
Canadian men never sing it that way, the socialist liberals changed it, its still "in all our sons command". How many women were fighting and dying in battle . in 1812,.WWI WWII, Korea..? (Such a dishonor to the vets and the fallen.) and of course the Canadian Truckers Protest....well okay one of the leaders was a woman....but she wasn't at the front on the streets. Plus you can sing it as, in all our Son's Command - Son of God -Jesus Christ. That's really why the socialists got rid of it, because of Canada's dummest and worst Prime Minister ever: Justin Trudeau. PS Star Spangled Banner is lyrically/musically probably the best.
About the German anthem: The "pre-war" national anthem of Germany actually had 3 verses, but now only one of them is sung/ is official as the other ones portray now outdated and german-centric themes. ('cause you were searching for something edgy) Fun Fact: The anthem was originally written for the birthday of Austria's emperor (with different lyrics obviously).
well, "pre-war" it was still the Kaiserlied which is the English national anthem but in german. then it was "Das Lied der Deutschen" and now its only the third verse of "Das Lied der Deutschen"
@@nihilusobscurio8380 Not illegal, but somewhat edgy. Technically, of course, it is about how all German-speaking duchies should band together to form a country, but it tends to be used by nationalists with a more militaristic turn. And the fact that some of those German-speaking duchies are now in Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and Italy, which makes it a little uncomfortable today.
@@nihilusobscurio8380 yeah, due to line such as "Deutschland uber alles" because of its links to the NZP though I'm sure a native German maybe knows more or can correct me if I'm in the wrong.
@@brokkoli3245 Technically speaking, "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was only the anthem of the Kaiser, not of the state. They didn't have an official anthem. Also during Nazi rule, it was only the first verse of the "Lied der Deutschen", then the "Horst-Wessel Lied".
I mean the second verse isn’t bad it’s just not suitable for a national anthem because and I quote from my memory here: „ the second verse sounds more like a party song then a national anthem.“ And the first verse isn’t that bad either but since world war 2 it is tainted with that image of being about superior to everyone else on this planet. In reality however the author of that song just wanted to show his love for this country and sing about how he wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. But the Nazis ruined that anthem. In my opinion we could use a new anthem I think our anthem is pretty boring. And doesn’t really say anything about the country.
As a french canadian, i find the french version of the anthem to be more melodical and less awkward than the lyrics of the english version The german anthem is the same they used during the 30’s but they usually don’t sing the first stanza witch is about germany being better than every other country, they also don’t sing the second stanza because it is about german beer, sausage and women.
Sorry, but you are mistaken. All Canadians know that our national anthem is “Canada’s Really Big” written by our most cherished composers, The Arrogant Worms. 🇨🇦
@@Monika-bc3dq Sweden is probably a bit too far in the lyrics so he wouldn't spend so much time listening to it to catch it. But I'd love for him to see it haha
Also most likely during malay realm period (1 ad to 12 ad) cos it stretched all the way to Australia at its peak so phillipines would have been invaded and changed hands at least a few times
Roomie to the Philippines: Looks like their country will never be invaded Me living in the Spratly islands that is being claimed by China: Are you sure about that?
yes roomie because we Filipinos have been invaded 4 times by Spanish, then America, then Japanese in ww2, and America again until finally giving us our freedom
"seems like they will never be invaded" Well, the anthem is like a vow to never let others get ahold of our freedom again because many Filipinos died to achieve that freedom for more than 3 centuries that we've been under another country's jurisdiction... Well, it's not like I'm really listening to our lessons about history (sibika at kultura/hekasi/araling panlipunan) naalala niyo pa ba yung subjects na to?
Our freedom was bought by the Americans for 20mil. As much as I am patriotic to my hometown and Philippine heroes including the unsung, I think you should rephrase that comment.
@@sophiawico8440 oh, I was just referring to the lyrics of the national anthem, like "duyan ka ng magiting" and "ang mamatay ng dahil sayo". It symbolizes the heroes that died for it... As I said at the beginning of my comment, 'the anthem is', 🙂
I love that he said in mexico national anthem who uses cannons now a day like if the mexican national anthem was made in the 2000's😂😂. I love the mexican national anthem bc im mexican and mexican national anthem was said to be the second best national anthem after the french national anthem.
Roomie: Philippines national anthem sounds like they will never get invaded Meanwhile: China is trying to steal some islands on West Philippine Sea and already built military bases
Same feeling here too! Also me: he's just talking about the melody and musical arrangement 😅 (not that he's a history expert as he disclosed, so I guess no harm done)
You hit the nail on the head there with the Philippine National Anthem. It was written in 1898 during the Phil/Spanish Revolution and is a Patriotic song. And by the way, if you listen to it well, you'll hear a similarity with the French National Anthem. The Philippines is very strict when you sing it in public, they won't allow you if you don't deliver it with its original tempo.
Fun fact... The Canadian anthem was actually changed to “all of us” instead of “all thy sons” around last year! Edit: it was actually three years ago haha
@@danielrocks8056 Why is it pathetic? English isn't even the original version. And it's not like it doesn't make sense. If anything, it just feels more inclusive and internal in general (us vs. them).
That high note thing in Turkey March really is a hard thing to do in school. We sing it at the beginning of school everyday in the top of the morning. Everyone is just yawning or sleeping instead 🤣🤣🤣 and some of them try to do that high note but little do they know their voice cracks because of puberty f*ckes it up 😌
Its the same with the hungarian national anthem, its rly high (because everyone uses the one where a choir sings it lol) so now i dont even try to sing it in school, props to the people who do/can tho
@@lucalipovics1973 same 😂 but they usually make like a music lesson where they make you sing it and i remember drinking egg yolk to make my voice clearer XD it was like a test. It was so hard but teacher liked my voice and take me into the choir group that sings in speacial days. Well i never wanted to but they said everyone else is bad so- (I ended up never showing up to the practises outside the school :)
Yess so whenever it comes up everyone normally just goes quiet and youll have the one or two people who attempt to sing it with the music teacher and they just totally fail
In turkey all the kids have mastered the high notes because they have to sing it at the start and end of the week. Its literally a bunch of middle schoolers belting XD
So I'm Canadian, and at School we have to stand up and sing the national anthem blah blah blah but it sounds pretty cool when all the students in the school start singing,it sounds like the actual thing! Also I just moved to South Canada and yes,we do have 7/11 I never saw it in North Canada.
Canada also does a announcement before the national anthem and we also stand up for it, at school though Land Acknowledgement: "We are hosted on the lands of the Mississauga's of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat. We also recognize the Enduring Presence of all First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples"

I'm so happy you liked the Independence March of Turkey! It takes me back to school days because we used to sing it every monday and friday as the school week started and ended. But the song is so powerful it still manages to make me emotional after all these years.
I still go to school and hear the Turkish march of independence Me and my friends never miss the anthem we always run out of our classes and into a perfect line 🇹🇷
@itsViperYT well true, but I mean is it really that far though? I mean, Spain is farther. So I mean, it does feel like a little bit more important. So...
And for anyone curious why, it's to recognise Australia's Indigenous people, who were here loooooong before it was settled, meaning the country isn't as "young" as previously claimed.
In East Germany they actually had a new hymn after ww2. "Auferstanden aus Ruinen" about the people buliding the country out of ruins. Sadly at German reunification they just kept the old hymn they used in West Germany
And the music is from 1797 by Franz Joseph Haydn one of the greats masters of the Vienesse School along with Mozart and Beethoven. I love Haydn and the whole emperor quartet. He rating the Deutschlied so low ... Almost personally attack but I respect his opinion...
@@holladiew4ldfee As a German I only can confirm this. The first one is about Germany and patriotism, the borders and that "everybody shall be pleased with the German spirit" which of course is difficult to sing nowadays. While the second one is about drinking and German women since these lyrics where written to be sung while drinking it doesn't fit to an anthem as well. That's why we only use the third part as other national anthem.
Roomie: "Looks like their country will never be invaded " Filipinos: *cough* what About the 333 years being colonized by Spain, colonized by France, colonized by Portugal, colonized by Japan , colonized by Americans, colonized by Britain and colonized by Belgium Philippines suffered very much from colonialism
Yeah they are very much alright for every other nation. Also Germany above all means a United Germany above all since that wasn’t the case when it was written. It has nothing to do with world supremacy or what the nazis made of it.
The second verse is just about how great german women, loyalty, wine and singing are. Granted, that's more fitting for a drinking song than an anthem, but its not really problematic.
@@j.s.8905 Its not just the "Germany above all" thing, the territory defined as Germany in the first verse ranges from Netherlands to Lithuania which could be seen as a claim for the lost Prussian territories. While it was not written with that intent and merely included all german speaking regions at the time, the connotations are there especially since the Nazis omitted the second and the third verse.
Roomie : this is very slow Me as a Malaysian having flashbacks of singing the national anthem during every Mondays at the school assembly : I feel you roomie
Hahahahahahahahahah yeah when he said that I was not offended at all. But at least I felt patriotic when I sing out national anthem despite what’s going on
