Fun fact, acrylic gouache is actually just acrylic paint that mimics the finish of gouache! It behaves like acrylic in basically every way that counts, it's just completely matte like gouache
Sam is looking fresh with the new cut! I'm actually trying to convince my mum to get me an apple pencil or a wacom tablet for when I get a laptop, and get into digital art! Traditional art is my baby, but you're making it seem way too fun
Try buying em second hand or used you will get them sooooooo much cheaper . I had mine for a pretty long time and I paid like 100 bucks for it (Wacom Bamboo)
7:45 My friend, Joshua, is an amazing artist. He is the definition of the Art kid. No matter what he draws, even scribbles, looks amazing. He’s done animations, tape sculptures, filled multiple sketchbooks, created and distributed entire comics, and was even approached by my school to write a logo or something. In art class our teacher does quizzes and worksheets for some god-forsaken reason, and Josh failed it because he didn’t answer in complete sentences.
As someone going into getting my credentials to teach art. The quizzes are a requirement for teachers. Oftentimes its policy for many subjects need to cross over into each other within the curriculum. Science needs to cross over and enforce math. And art and history need to reinforce English. Hence quizzes and papers in art class
@@paintingdragons1828 The teacher still should've specified that the questions should be answered in complete sentences. Bad on their part, not the student
@@myahb.2679 thats like writing the final part of a math problem without the solving part and then getting mad the teacher didnt specifically say to write your process
Sam. what if, instead of you looking through the # for art tips, you have your fans send you their favorite tiktok art tips? Just a cool little suggestion edit: yooo glad so many ppl agree! :D and sam noticed!
Sam: “dont stop creating, make sure you’re having fun” (talking about a paper drawing tiktok) Also sam: “Y’know what to do when you dont want to get any of this stuff? ✨DigitAl art :D✨ digital art makes everything so much easier! Join us, join the dark side :D”
11:20 literally exactly what I do. Sometimes I’ll be bored in school so I draw on my hands, and what I especially love doing is drawing shapes all over the little joints in my hand because then it makes for good reference and also it looks super cool a lot! Sometimes if it’s just basic joints on the knuckles and stuff my hand ends up looking like a doll too lol
Sam is going through some serious robbery ( Sooo many artists stealing from his style lol). That's what's so great about being an artist. The more you are likely to be robbed, the more you get known, without going broke( probably getting richer).
@@FreyasArts I didn't mean stealing his style entirely lol. I just meant stealing'from his style' or in other elements of his style like the way he draws eyes, usage of colours etc.All of us do that consciously or subconsciously, we can see certain elements of our favourite artists in our own style. You can't 'copy' a style but you can steal elements of it. There's a quote," Good artists copy, great artists steal". 😄
Ok, so, idk if anybody had this but when he mentioned 3/4 view faces I remembered. Did anybody else start off as front facing and it was good so you decided to attempt 3/4 and now you can't draw front facing anymore
Editing photos in photoshop is actually a really good idea, I don't know why I never actually considered it. I do realistic colour pencil drawings but I love the surrealism style too, but I can't draw without a reference. I think I'm really going to try this XD Thank you!
Sometimes when I don’t know what to draw and I don’t know what to do, I just draw a circle and an eye at a random spot inside the circle. It forces me to make a creature (typically a dragon) at different angles at all times, and it usually turns out pretty well. Art is pretty fun if I’m being honest
i'm kinda having an art-block atm but after watching this video i feel motivated to work on a fresh piece again :D thank u sam!! also that new hairstyle looks so good on you!!
I’m in an art elective at school, it’s mainly effort based, and how you use your time. Also when people ask me to draw something even though they motivate me, my brain needs to be in the zone and motivated to draw it, like same you need to want to draw something.
7:20 I feel this so much even though I don't do commissions yet. I just do requests from my friends and family first. I always procrastinate. That's my number one enemy I have to defeat.
11:33 pls what song is this cuz I'm addicted to it 💀 Also sam even tho I stopped drawing (bc of stress, school, 0 motivation, will probably continue someday tho) I find your videos the most helpful, almost like daily classes lol so thank you for putting these out, I've learnt so much :)
Hello Sam! I came as soon as I got the notification lol I was also promoting you to my friend XD telling her how funny you are and about the skull of your enemy~ Love you!
Yo sam, could you make a video on good digital art processes? The process is so important in digital art, but there are definitely good and bad processes. Like, the skill in drawing is very important, but for people like me with fairly good art skill (not great, but not bad) knowing a good process can turn your art from ok to goddamn amazing. if you even see this comment, (just if you have the time) I would greatly appreciate it! Either way, great video
We gotta respect how he doesn't talk during the video is playing and gives us signals if the video is bad or good and not talking over the tt like other yt-ers
I just want to say that anyone that doesn't like their art style right now or is uninspired or thinks that your art looks bad ، you art can totally become A character in an anime specifically attack on Titan ,it can be a titan
It's interesting, I've only ever done art as a hobby until this year. Then a friend asked me if i do commissions, and i said i'd never done one before, but was open to it. He told me what he wanted, and asked me how much i was willing to charge, and i looked around, and gave a price. He told me that he'd actually set aside almost triple the amount to pay me, and we ended up coming to a conclusion together, that was actually a really nice amount. recent he sent pose, clothes, hair, and extra references for him and his s/o. so many references from a bunch of angles. But the major points i want to make with this are 1: the fact that he told me i was underselling myself, and that i should charge higher bc people that like my art will pay for it. Know your worth people. 2: ask for references, moods, colours, vibes, backgrounds/scenery, and as many refences as possible for as many angles as possible. It makes the process /so much easier/ on both you and the client because it gives you an idea to aim for and an easier time of creating the piece, and the client will get what they want. but most important thing i want to reiterate: know your goddamn worth yall. look up average prices to get a baseline idea, but ask the client what they want, factor in your time, effort, materials, etc. and make that price worth it for both you and your client. it's good for you
Nothing made me laugh harder today than the sudden effects he used like 40 seconds in 😆caught me off guard I think the biggest reason my art tanks so hard on social media is because I don't take it seriously enough. It really is so much work to keep up this much presence online. The second biggest reason my art tanks is running from my responsibilities...
3 years ago i have given up drawing.ive been drawing for 7 months but still came out messy and assymetrcal. I've reached the depths of despair never draw AGAIN.
7:39 that actually happened to me and I got too scared that I deleted my whole account and the app I was commissioned on😂😂😂😂😂I haven’t downloaded it since then
Sam: " Do digital art, so you won't have to buy any supplies Also: A good tablet with a pen, a good computer with memory cable to transfer memory on pc, good apps, brushes in apps, internet,
I found your channel through this series recently (during a super huge art block i thought i would give up art) Im drawing again lately and when i do now i have a little voice in my head telling me to stop running from my responsibilities xD Caught myself not drawing shoes cuz theyre hard so guess what were practicing today ✨💪 Practice makes Improvement!! and were getting better every day !
