Agreed. Its the most human thing to do. I'd understand if he was acting for something or doing something wrestling related where he shouldn't be laughing but Maven is telling us stories where his emotions come out organically human.
My wife was a teacher at the elementary school Hunter (Paul) and Stephanie sent their 3 daughters to and actually had all 3 in her class. I was told that Stephanie was very nice and down to earth.
Why would anyone give this man heat for being genuine & laughing at those pictures !, i loved that, that was wholesome . He didn't laugh when he saw one particular picture 😂 i like that .
I like that Maven doesn’t shy away from talking about the rumours we undoubtedly hear about his former colleagues and tackles them head on and the way he talks about everyone is so respectful. I appreciate that he always adds it’s his POV because that’s the only perspective he can really share. Thanks for sharing these memories, thoughts and videos with us!
I appreciate the joy he expresses in looking at these pictures and explaining the business. Don’t ever apologize for being happy. Love your videos, Maven!
Maven is a marketing genius man. The quality of these videos is insane and its a guy who’s actually walked the walk and is sharing his experience with the world. Dude’s channel is going to blow up if he keeps up with this content 🔥
For me it's the first channel of it's kind I know of too. He seems entirely unrestricted by NDAs given that he ultimately (no offence) wasn't big enough of a star to really get in on the inner circle, but also that this is purely solo content and not a podcast. Again I'm not trying to dump on podcasts, but I've seen so much brown nosing and 'echo chambering' so to speak, that you just feel disingenuity.
This is what I dont get about this current crop ...... why wouldnt you use some of these guys who knows the business vs some of these guys as Announcers whos only been around for a few years? Maven still sonds good, he could easily be an announcer or a Manager.
Maven should take the Pat McAfee role on Smackdown - could even get involved in the fray like Pat does every once in a while. Would love to see him back.
Yeah, he could easily just bury big names and get way more views, but he doesn't. I started watching after Maven was gone, but I'm a big fan from his YT.
Who gave you heat for laughing? That was part of why the first part was so good and wholesome! We could tell each picture brought back memories because you would smile and laugh, which is great to see! Keep laughing bro 👍🏻
I was never a big fan of Maven as a wrestler. But I absolutely love his content. He's so descriptive, respectful, and intriguing to listen to. Makes me wish WWE let that side of him be seen during the time he was there.
I think the reason he was laughing was as he saw the picture, the memories of that particular wrestler would flood his thoughts. I do the same thing when I check up on my friends through facebook, those memories bring me back to the younger days and I can't help but smile
I remember how much I hated Kurt growing up but now as an adult, he is maybe one of my favorite performers of all time. A beast in the ring, great on the mic and could be both hilarious and intense. A true talent.
I wised up to heels being far more entertaining around 14, and the "it's true, it's true"" era is about as good as heeling gets. In an era of Tony Soprano and Stone Cold, Angle was out there talking about working hard and making sure you drank enough milk.
Being a heel never deterred me as a kid liked heels and babyfaces. My favorite wrestlers were babyfaces like Benoit and Eddie also liked heels like hhh JBL and edge. What I didn’t like were boring generic faces
I remember a friend who understood wrestling admitted that he couldn't separate his kay-fab hate from real hate towards Kurt. That's when I realized that he was up there with Debiase as a great heel. And that was in his first couple of years.
Steve was 100% right to walk out when he did. He earned the right through blood, sweat, and revenue generation to not let the writers take petty revenge on him.
They must be nuts if they expected Steve to just lose to Brock Lesnar on a regular Raw. I know Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair put Brock over. And so did The Rock and Undertaker (at PPVs). But Steve losing to Brock on Raw was a fucking insult.
@@Alvin_Vivian Yeah Brock was always something special, but hearing it from Austin's point of view, he's most likely the biggest draw ever in wrestling why should he be losing to a relatively new guy not even on PPV without a substantial story? At least make it a lead up and then Wrestlemania or something, where it would make sense...
Correct. Steve absolutely would have done the job if they built the match up with Brock, and did it on PPV.. but there was no build whatsoever, it was a first round tournament match on Raw. It didn't make sense to job Steve out like that in that situation. They could have had an amazing rivalry if WWE just booked it correctly, but they pissed him off, and he was already tired, beat up, and worn out from the business, it makes sense that he would rather just go home.
It's great to hear stories from a different perspective. Especially guys like Bradshaw and Shane O'Mac who people believe are either a bully or spoon fed respectively. Same with Steph as well, and it's cool to hear that Vince made the kids work for it, like his father did to him.
My favorite story I've heard about Shane O Mac was that Vince told he had to work during the summer when he was 16...doesn't matter what job, but he had to get a job. Shane saw that somebody was laying bricks or tile or something at their family mansion, and he just said "hey are you hiring?" and the guy was like "Yeah I'll pay you $12 an hour to apprentice" and that was that. Dude was smart enough to get a job that didn't even require him to leave the house. Apparently he busted his ass for the guy too. It's really hard to not like Shane, especially with the insanity he grew up around.
I didnt care much of Maven when he was under wwe contract. But now when he started this channel, i love this guy. He is well spoken and interesting to listen to. If he got a call up from wwe to return i think he would do much better than 20 years ago. He has looks and charisma. But could train his in-ring work a bit to get him ring ready. I would totally invest in him this time. Good work Maven❤
Same here! I remember back in the day thinking Maven was a weird made up name trying to sound like Raven or Craven, like slightly edgy. And also he didn't really have a gimmick so there wasn't anything for younger me to remember. Now though, what a genuine man with thoughtful insights! I really enjoy this Maven and kinda wish I had shown more interest back when he wrestled.
I’ve heard from a lot of people in the industry that they really loved working with Stephanie and she’s a great person too. So many people forget the hours upon hours of charity work she does rather with the company or separately. I remember when Connor The Crusher passed and they did the promos in remembrance of him she not only hurt because of it being a fan that people loved but because of him being such a young child with a bright spirit he was. She genuinely cared about Connor and cares an absolute ton about fans and people she meets. I hope she enjoys her much much needed break to focus on family. That woman took a ton of nasty insults for entertainment but has also done so much hard work. I hope your channel really takes off and goes well!
She really was in the crosshairs of a lot of insults in the ring. Funny for the audience, but I can't even imagine how much she had to go through in order to maintain and sell the kayfabe. I would've been busting on the floor laughing if I heard one insult in person in front of a live audience. Huge respect for Stephanie.
@@jasonx1174it was good to see her all those years later to be an on-screen authority figure and be delivering the put downs. One of the most underrated character progressions in wwe history.
As a Generation X guy watching the Attitude/Ruthless Aggression Era, I also watched Tough Enough. When you won, I couldn't stand you, but the reality was that I was just jealous. Watching your videos has given me a new sense of appreciation and respect for your accomplishments in WWE and post wrestling career. Moreover, the fact that you're so charitable with your assessment on wrestlers who had less than a stellar reputation backstage shows that you're genuinely a good dude. I'm happy for your success post-WWE and wish you all the best.
Haha. Okay, I was also hella jealous of Maven as a tiny kid so it's cool to see I wasn't the only one. I kinda felt like he 'cheated' to get in by winning Tough Enough and always (foolishly, of course) thought as a kid I could do way better lol. But yeah, obviously his YT content is great enough to make me check out a ton of his old matches and just appreciate him.
Maven you are one of the most genuine and humble people I have ever heard talk. I am so glad you made this channel to interact with your fans and just fans of wrestling in general. Keep them coming, brother.
Maven - dude - don't concern yourself with people complaining about you laughing at the pictures. If people are especially bothered by another person's individual personality quirk - and a clearly friendly and lighthearted quirk at that - then that's on them. Keep doing what you're doing, you seem like a swell guy and these videos are great.
This channel is great. It’s a fresh take. Something different. Maven has the voice and personality for content like this. Everyone does the shoot interview, but this comes across as authentic and not so embellished or exaggerated as some of the shoots can get.
Kinda refreshing to see a pro wrestling channel that has a positive outlook on his career. He didn’t allow it to chew him up and make him bitter. Don’t get me wrong I like the drama like everyone else but Maven is a nice change of pace.
@@justanothercollector43He was an active member of the roster from 2001-05. Jobbers sometimes do even more work than the big guys. Just because YOU don't remember him doesn't mean he barely wrestled. Get your shit straight.
@@justanothercollector43first of all spell properly if you're going to talk shit. And secondly you say you don't remember him lol. That pretty much sums up you pal
He did laugh at almost every picture in the first video, and tried not to during this one, but as the video went on I don't think he could help himself. 😂 It makes me feel like he's that much more genuine about what he says about them.
Yes it was!!! Like a dang Mack truck was hitting you. Was never a big fan of JBL, I did like when he teamed up with Farooq. I wanna say it was the APA. That was the only time I tolerated JBL 😂.
@firewalker1372 Bradshaw was always awesome. All the way back to when I first saw him as Justin Hawk Bradshaw, to The Acolytes/APA all the way to JBL with his Cabinet. I've always been a fan of his and the bigger guys that liked knocking the shit out of one another lol.
The way you describe each and every person is awesome. I’m 35 years old and I remember watching wrestling on both channels every Monday. I actually saw WWF TOUGH ENOUGH when you won, it was an exciting show at that time.
Y think Maven has found his calling. He's a great storyteller. Keep them videos coming, Maven. I love how honest and straight up he is about the business.
It seems like he's still trying to earn his father's... love? respect? something... every time he's out there. At this point he should realize it isn't going to happen.
As the video progressed I was glad to see the times you were forgetting not to laugh. Keep laughing Maven, its addictive seeing someone actually enjoy what they're doing.
I didn't watch must wrestling back when Maven was in the business but wow I could listen to this guy talk for hours. Such a real and authentic take on the business, hope this channel keeps growing.
I didn’t have any problem of Maven laughing at those pictures on his first video. It’s his life experiences that he’s sharing to us. He lived it and we did not. Maven please be yourself while making these videos and don’t let any mark tell you to stop being yourself. Being genuine, charming and kind gets you the views and subscribers.
But that's the thing, he wasn't being himself, he was being fake. I like people being themselves too, which is why he got called out on the fake laughter. If a picture makes them laugh, it makes them laugh. But not the exact same way every single time.
Great stumbling upon this channel all these years later, as a kid i always wondered what happened when I stopped seeing you on TV. You honestly seem like such a down to earth humble person. It's good to see you after all these years! I hope life has treated you well since WWE!
Thank you Maven for being awesome and giving everyone this insight through this channel. This is amazing and I'll follow this channel closely until you slow down with this amazing content :D
Mave! As a creator myself (that's not my main account) I can tell you only one thing: just stick to what you feel like. If those laughs were genuine, that's what you actually feel and that's what your viewers are coming for. Haters gonna hate, always disappointed gonna find something else to nag about but you just do your thing. Thank you for the content, it's a pure gold ❤
Dude! Talk about a come out of nowhere, surprise channel! I love your videos! Always enjoyed watching you on tv and I’m glad I get to see you again. Happy to see you’re doing well. I can’t get enough of your videos and look forward to watching all of them. 5 stars all the way. Keep them coming!
That F5 on you is one of my favourites. You sold and landed that perfectly, unlike a lot of guys that tend to turn on their side before hitting the mat.
I remember as a kid creating you in WWF No Mercy on Nintendo 64 and setting all your moves to the drop kick lol 😂 nothing but respect brother I love the channel and the stories and insight 💪
I absolutely love this channel. I love the WWE Superstar perspective of the truth and their opinions of what people are like backstage. I usually watch videos about people who do research but never encountered a channel of a Former Superstar, it's both nostalgic and satisfying, always happy when a new video comes out!
Please don’t let the haters change your approach… your smiles, giggles and laughs each time you flipped the pictures was GENUINE!! keep it up…. We can see the memories pop in your head each flip….. Remember, I’m sure you taught your students to never let anyone bully them out of their joy… take your own advice…. you’re awesome, you were in a comfy enough space for 99.99% of the human race as a teacher, you left that, took a risk and lived out the fantasies of many….. nothing stopped you then, nothing should stop you now…. KEEP SMILING … WE APPRECIATE YOU taking time out your day to share your stories……
I could listen to Maven talk all day. Not a boring second listening to Maven reminisce about his time with WWE. I think it's because he's so real and so humble. As others have already stated the quality of this channels content is absolutely incredible.
Maven, I remember watching you on Tough Enough when I was a kid. My brother and I used to stay up after Smackdown and we cheered for you every week. And we were so happy when you won! The good old days! 😂
I love that he spoke up for JBL based on his own experiences. I have met JBL at 2 different events. He is just that loud guy in the bar that wants a beer, and wants to shoot the shit. He was a cool guy. I'm sure he just like any wrestler could be intense but you gotta ask yourself why? Probably because the other person did something that other wrestlers find offensive. I can't remember who said it but JBL was more or less Undertaker's prosecutor in the locker room along with Ron Simmons and Bob Holly when it came to stuff like wrestlers court, so he was one of the guys who kept people in line so they wouldn't try to kill each other over a rib or not shaking hands. I feel like Maven was kinda getting at that without saying it.
I havent watched wrestling in ten or so years but after bray's passing I've been watching some of the great tribute videos on here recently. Somehow I stumbled across this channel and wow, what an amazing bloke and amazing content! keep it up brother
Legit don’t understand why ppl hate that u laughed at pictures… almost every photo I see brings up memories and the feeling of nostalgia.. it’s amazing . Blessings mav
I still remember a match between Hardcore Holly and JBL back in like 2004/2005. My gosh those two beat the shit out of each other for the fans. Big respect
I remember JBL and Hardcore Holly had a few matches with each other, and the first two he either got DQ'd for or counted out. I remember one particular where he kept beating Holly until he was bloody and DQ'd for it. Holly got a WWE Championship match out of it and it was in a hardcore match to boot. Fun little match too.
I actually found the laughing very genuine and communicative last time. I'm just taking a peek in that pro wrestling world, good guys with values and you're a class act from what I see👍
So humble and respectful. Glad I found you again after so many years Mav. Excellent information for those like me whove watched since wrestlemania 3 and always a mark for backstage politics and interactions. Now reverse it and tell us who was the worst !❤
WWE is unwatchable and TERRIBLE at everything now. Maven is not right there working. They liike to promote the worst types like Roman Dhead Reigns and boring blobs like Cena. WWE died when Reings won Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar kept it alive some while, but NOW it will be DEAD as a corpse due to rotten content and ugly creations , in mere 10 years. Vince sold WWE already.
Opinions are like assholes we all have one. I bet you watch raw and smackdown just to bitch and complain because who you like is not being pushed. If you want to stop wwe from pushing someone then don't say shit at a show. Just sit there on your phone not making a sound. Don't talk about the person online because it still brings attention to the person you don't like.
Glad I found this channel today. Maven had a run as World Heavyweight Champion in my WWE action figure universe when I was a kid. Unfortunately that run came to an end via the spear, jackhammer, pin combo. Haha. Keep up the great content, Maven!
Maven, I was a fan of yours when I was rooting for you in Tough Enough. I was hoping you kept improving, evolving, and had a much longer career. I’m not going to lie saying I kept following you but seeing you again now I can tell you went through a lot (I also suffered a bit because of addiction to painkillers and been sober since 2018 after four years of addiction) and hope you’re doing well. I wish you the best ,brother. I subscribed and can’t wait to hear more stories from one of the wrestlers I really liked and supported
I'm 37, wrestling has been a major part of my life since I can remember, I am so happy ur doing this RU-vid channel Maven it brings me a lot of joy and nostalgia. Btw, I always thought you were a tremendous worker in that ring.
I remember a story about Shane McMahon. Before Rikishi was going to take that bump off the hell in a cell, Shane demonstrated it multiple times. He was not afraid to take major bumps.
Sir You the way you laugh is amazing and full of life. Hell I'll even say it's iconic. Please don't stop laughing. I bet if you make a video dissecting the way you laugh it would still be worth watching and of course informational.
I really enjoy hearing Maven's personal takes on some of the wrestlers who have come to get a bad rep in the locker room. It's great to get a different perspective.
After seeing Shane wrestle and take those bumps, you have to view him as a Wrestler and a good one at that. Really, he was a Hardcore Wrestler. Always ENTERTAINING.
Hey Maven i am really enjoying your videos and i am glad to see you are doing well. I am in the UK and we never got tough enough here and i always remember being gutted about it because i really wanted to see the show. It has been a long time but i remember on your debut or maybe pre debut you did a really cool drop kick on someone in the ring and from that point i became a fan and i would will you on to do well. Also Myself and my mates loved your entrance music, It really captured the underdog spirit of your character. Only ever fond memories of you from my childhood.. Stay well and enjoy yourself .
Have not really watched wrestling since the WCW days and vaguely even remember this guy but this popped up on my YT recommended videos and I have been watching them a bunch. Great videos, very well done!
You mentioned the Rock and dinner. I went out to dinner with him twice after autograph sessions. Absolute stand up gentleman. I had the pleasure of meeting Steve back stage before I went in the ring and did a promo for Mick foleys book. Again absolute gentleman, took a picture with me...got on my level as I was 10 at the time. I was able to get Mick to sign the book after and he wrote a personal message. Still have it to this day. We did autograph sessions with alot of wrestlers...the most intimidating were always the nicest after the session was over. Just backing up what your saying about some of the most popular people in the sport, its all true, Maven isnt giving any BS
Very cool, the levels of mutual respect you share and how highly you talk of all the other wrestlers! RVD has always been my favorite high flyers and characters to watch..and was hoping he'd be on the list! The content you put up is awesome! Glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Maven, there can only be ONE Undertaker but you were the FIRST F5-Taker. Also you were amazing during your WWE run and you are revitalized NOW in your youtube success. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the business. It's a hard life and everyone who does it should be commended for their talent and their dedication. I tell people all the time when I itemize expenses as an independent contractor that you dont make as much as people think you do. I'm definitely loving all the videos and cant wait for the next one to drop. I tried to get into the business years ago. (I have a different look being Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian) UPW (Cena was the Prototype there) accepted me but the 9-11 tragedy stopped the move in 2001. Had a match with Yuji Nagata and another with Dragon Gate. Did a Chikara event with Generico, Fire Ant, Eddie Kingston and others. Teddy Hart moonsaulted on my head. Almost had a match with AJ Styles. My FCW tryout was with AJ Lee and Adam Rose. I got to do a promo in front of the Legendary Dusty Rhodes. I had a smackdown tryout where I helped a run in with Matt Hardy. It was a short run but my regrets are not getting to meet and learn from all of the wrestlers from that time. I was a worker for 10 years (weekender) but never near the exhausting, back breaking point of wrestling on the road constantly. Search "Best Neckbreaker in Wrestling History". Due to this, I have absolutely no injuries or addictions. I've gone through tables, took huge moves (ex. hit a top rope DDT, did I mention Teddy Hart moonsaulted on my head, etc) Much respect to the Pros who sacrifice their body to the Sport. And much love to everyone on their path. I hope you get farther than me. I thought about making a podcast but what would I call it? Jabroni podcast, lol.
I saw you made a similar comment on cafe de Rene (not sure if you saw my reply) but I think you should definitely make a video talking about your experience. I’d definitely watch.
@@d.52555Thanks. I appreciate it. I've been trying to figure out how to do it and which format. I work as a first responder and there's not enough hours in the day.

You seem very genuine and about the people you worked with, I love that you’re very respectful to the ones you may not have gotten along with, awesome job
Never change what you are doing my friend! I enjoy the honesty and personality that you show in these videos. It’s nice to see an individual just being honest with who they are, and not trying to still play a character.
It’s really cool to see these videos! A lot has happened since I watched WWE religiously but I hella remember seeing tough enough and you going on and this is a cool trip down memory lane and insight on the behind the scenes with the beloved characters and people of my child hood 💯 good shit Mr Maven 💪
Love your content and I've always wondered if anyone would come out and keep it real and tell the truth about stuff without sugar coating it like i suspect sometimes is done. Keep the videos coming!!
Maven brotha! Love the content! Commenting on the 3rd video now to show my support! You lived a life only some could dream of brother! Your humbleness is as it should be. Nothing to be ashamed of! Happy your finding a new niche !
I was on a flight with Steve Austin on Mothers Day. After we got off the flight, he had a cart waiting on him because of a bad knee at the time. I walked beside the cart chatting with Steve as he headed to his next gate. As the cart turned a different direction, Steve said Happy Mother’s Day brother. I said Happy Mother’s Day to you too. We both laughed!
