You can tell Stephan is a great dad. He knows so much about cars and mechanics, but when he talks to his son, he's a regular guy, not being a know-it-all who explains everything. That's a sign of good parenting - gives his kid space to contribute.
i was really exited to see the rav4 continue. i though the project was scrapped and channel abandoned. for a while on the previous episodes i was asking about the cad files for the skid plate. do you still have those? also hoping to see an actual project video of the swap. is that coming soon? the other episodes were so helpful to follow along with making the suspension mods to my 4dr, really hoping to see the swap process. i would really appreciate a response, there arent many people who have gone in depth with these wonderful little machines and have a platform to share their process. also, im happy to see you go on an adventure with friends and family. nothing beats a road trip to nowhere!
What all have you done to your 5 door? Anywhere we could see it? I'm so tempted in getting one. It really doesn't help that I just found a 3SGTE locally for less than $500.
Haha! Couldn't do a desert road trip without taking the Arrma RC cars! I just got the new Mojave 4S and this thing rocks! Thanks for taking us along, I love this little nugget of a car EDIT: Holy shit that kid got leveled by that Senton! 6:05 LOL I hope he was alright
The Rav 4 is awesome, would be great to see a more in depth video on the rest of the build. Love seeing 16v Turbo on the valve cover, and the blue manual boost controller when you propped the air box open at the water crossing.
This is great... seeing Stephan this many years later still doing amazing things with cars. From the days of racing under the bridge to breaking world records to now climbing mountains.
1st gen rav4 owner myself... ill tell you im loving this content, seeing these videos are great, enjoy you putting that rav through the ringer, lets see more out of this thing !
Never thought id see a Steph and Larry desert boggn video with their boys, this is awesome! From 3D printing Inkanel race parts to raw dawgn the Mojave. Hell yeah
th video about you breaking down the b58 brought me here. i love how you got old cars and give them a new lease on life. these new cars are great but the simplicity of older cars makes them the best in my opinion
it's super fun you're doing this with the RAV4, trails I've taken with my trucks for years, and you're seemingly new at this just cool to see your perspective coming from Drift
Kewl adventure. Been missing Papadakis Racing videos. What, no tie wire? Also, a 20lb CO2 tank, for tires, is a personal must have, for these sort of adventures.
This is a very good conversion the only thing is missing is the rear celica differential maybe in the future you will get to it, on my 96 rav4 gt4 conversion I was able to incorporate the celica rear differential and my rav is a complete celica conversion, keep up the good work Stef!!!
Tip for water crossings. Unless water is pouring in through your doors or you're getting pushed sideways from a current, you want to go very slowly and build a small wave in front of the vehicle.
Need to rename that Toyota Rav4 to Totally Rad 4 wheeler 😅 Glad to see the progress on the Rav4. Also glad to see others enjoy off-roading. Wouldn't mind seeing a custom Prinsu-style roof rack, full lighting setup, and a custom air intake snorkel. Maybe disconnect the front sway bar. And keep metal zipties in your tool kit. Wonder if Torq-Master Industries or Spartan Lockers makes an Automatic Locker that would fit into that thing. A rear locker would transform it's off-road performance
I also own a 3dr first gen! I’m curious, aside from a bit of cutting, have you had any problems with the wheels poking out 30mm more than stock? I’m looking at some 15mm offset wheels but I’m worried about it causing problems given stock is 45mm
It was great to see the rav back. I'm surprised you still appear to be running an open rear diff. I thought you would have put in the torsion rear from an auto rav. Three wheel drive will always get you further than two.
I have a 98 rav4 and always had the thought of putting a 3sge or gte in there is that what you have in there i seen the cooling fans and the turbo writing. Did it come like that when you bought it? I would love to see a video if you did install it sick build bro
The internet when most people wheel with open diffs: "get a locker, amateur. Real offroaders will buy a truck/jeep/whatever" The internet when Steph Papadakis wheels with open diffs: "hell yeah"
Looks fun, but bro you need a course on setting lines, That rav4 made it is spite of your driving. Rough roads always suck with a short wheelbase if the suspension isn't set up well for it.
I've been in the market for a utv.. Honda pioneer/ Polaris RZR.. etc. those things are soo expensive. I wonder how a RAV4 like this would compare.. maybe a on some RZR size tires.. 15 inch narrow rims.. half doors.. small tube bumpers front and rear.. maybe even a small bed in the back with enclosed cabin in front.. a hunting trail riding rig. no one has built one. would be awesome to take all fenders off lights off and do a exocage of some sort.. really considering this year RAV4 as the Honda pioneer and Polaris are about just as wide or wider than this.
