What a handsome thing that Krauss Pacific is. I'd always taken it to be called William Beck, but it's Whillan Beck. I love that little green diesel 5:13! Like a mobile ice cream kiosk.
Part one is an excellent video and I am really looking forward to part two. Such visually appealing trains and the shot selection and the editing are excellent.
Great footage, just wish I could get to the Ratty more often & its ages since I've been. Whillan Beck looks great and finally out stretching its legs. For me the unsung hero here has to be the Ravenglass station pilot la'al Cyril.... Thanks for sharing.
Kingskybeem128 epic gamer , heritage railways are usually 25, however the ratty May operate to a lower speed limit, unfortunately I don’t remember the specifics on this question now.
40 minute journey, 7 miles would average 10, not accounting for stops. When you're on board and the wee loco is going at almost flat out it does feel quicker though I'll say that
I made that ride back in 2012, and I had a GPS speedo with me. It was between 7 and 10 mph uphill and 10 and 13 mph downhill. Exactly 10 mph on the flat plain. There was a family with a dog sitting next to us. At full speed, the dog jumped off the coach and ran alongside the train for a while, then jumped back in again. We had a good laugh.
