Seriously. Even on civil cases it's terrifying how stupid people are. I've sat on juries and done a couple of paid mock juries....the thought process of people can be truly off the wall, and the loudest most ignorant ones are often the ones driving the conversation. If anyone I care about is ever on trial for anything I'm going to make dang sure the decision is not put in the hands of a jury.

At least she is being honest. Just think of the jurors that convicted innocent people. That happens more than someone possibly being confused. I have never been a juror because I I have distance family members that are police officers, had a brother that served time for a drug possession and I served 20 years in the USAF. Lawyers felt I couldn't be impartial to those specific cases. They didn't ask me at all.

I've been on a jury on a trial I was an alternate bc during jury selection an man found every excuse he could to get out of it. I had just had a baby, it was awful but I did my civil duty. This lady just doesn't want to be a juror. She's trying to get out of it. This is not the time this far into the trial. You do this in jury selection if your going to be this annoying. Gosh. This makes Americans look so bad. And don't come at me bc I was in a trial, it was the last day of jury selection too. So I was in it for the long haul. Had my job harassing me to show up if we got off early. But again I took my civic duty seriously. She wants out of this. She's giving the lawyer attitude. She's the only one getting worked up. She did this on purpose. She waited for a chance and she took it. She realized she couldn't cut it. Ew. Nasty.

Their arguments will be replete with experts and interpretation of laws designed to forcefully sway the jury with things they want to 'stay in their minds' and guide their thinking. That is why the judge instructs the jury on what facts they are to make a decision on and what can be considered. Some degree? ? Judge has FINAL say, but they are obligated to follow jury's recommendation and to follow the PSI before sentencing. So, the jury has their life and future in their hands, not to some degree!! I was on grand jury once a month for a year. We went thru 100's of cases each day . Luckily, we just had to indict or say no indictment. Not enough evidence, they got charges dropped. If we say yes to enough evidence, they got indicted and went to trial. That was the extent of our job. I'm glad I didn't have to put anyone away for ever...Way too much pressure n guilt, no matter what the charges! I feel you!!

I was on a jury a while ago on a murder trial. The thing that scared me, was the the attitudes of the other jurors. They resented being there. They resented missing work. The only thing they ever talked about is getting it over with, so they could get out of there. Once we went to deliberate, their attitude was like convict and go home. They were not interested in what the law was, nor applying the evidence to those laws. It was like they did not care at all for the defendant. It was one other juror that was on my side, which was to take the evidence and measure it by the law and then render the verdict. At the beginning, it was 5 for murder 2, 5 for manslaughter, and 2 for criminally negligent homicide. Once they all decided to do the job we were all sworn to do, a verdict was reached. But I walked away thinking, good grief, I never want 12 strangers deciding my guilt or innocence. Never. I would always remember the attitude of those 11 other jurors. Also, the process of seating a jury does involve asking education level, and it was evident that the prosecution was choosing the older, more educated persons, and the defense was choosing the less educated, younger persons. Scary. Very scary.

If you’re ever on a jury and overhear a conversation that you believe could influence jury members on the trial for which you’re serving, especially with law enforcement, you’re obligated to report it to the judge. She clearly didn’t hear the entire conversation and misinterpreted it. But juror 1206 confronted the officer and reported it to the judge. THAT is part of a fair trial for the defendant.
