As a retired attorney, I can tell you that (big surprise) clients are frequently their own worst enemies. Things they demand to bring out, that are important to them, that are either irrelevant or harmful, it can be impossible to talk them out of bringing up.

This comment always comes up. It is up to the defendant and only the defendant to decide whether or not to testify. The attorney can only advise them, but cannot prevent the defendant from testifying. I think in most cases the attorney would advise them against taking the stand, but cannot stop them if they insist. Many times you will see the judge ask the defendant whether or not they are going to testify and whether or not they were influenced re their decision.
@@MrMatlock I actually pleaded with a respondent in a family court matter NOT to take the stand. "If you do, PLEASE say as little as possible, as dispassionately as possible." Needless to say, he didn't listen, proving the petitioner's case for her, and winning a judgment of everything she asked for.
He talks about stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the case. "A lot of women send me friend request". Tf that got to do with the case. "My home boy took the rap, he's out there in the audience". Tf cares? "I know if a smoker can get a job, they couldn't refuse me". Why is he talking?
He’s barely gotten into his testimony, but I already see that he loves playing the victim card. ‘I’m a convicted felon and “they” make it hard to get a job, rent a place, etc.’ Poor baby!

There is no God no one lives 2019 years. I do believe in the Death Penalty all states need it. There has to be some kind of price when you kill. It's been going on for thousands of years. When someone is being put to death they get it better than the person(s) they killed.

I knew he would get on the stand. He wants to tell his story. He wants a show. He has a very big ego... & y are they showing these videos? But i can't believe This lawyer really put him on the stand? His attorney and the court are obligated to tell a Defendant the risks that come with testifying in their own defense. His attorney may very well have advised him against it.

He was homeless but had two cars ? Is against cigarette smokers but is a 4time felon. A vegetarian whos against eating flesh n blood who works at a chicken spot? He makes 50k a year delivering pizzas yet has 3 other jobs while renting out every inch of the apartment? This dude is all over the place
Dialogue is fascinating. I’m starting to believe this is a text book perfect must see for all . I think this should be required watching for all . This is a perspective of what happens in the hood in every city every single day. The drama and minutia these folks experience on a daily bases is perplexing.

The point he is making is that it is hard for felons to reenter society which is why most end up back in jail. He knows what he did but trying to restart your life, and make a change after coming home with having no resources is a problem.
