I found out my Mom passed away on my birthday Dec 9. When we were cleaning out her things in her apartment on Dec 16, she had a record player and I took three Ray Price records off and put them back in their covers. Then I find out Mr. Price passed away. So many great songs that now have even more meaning to me. I loved them growing up and love them even more now. Thank you Ray for giving my Mom so much happiness through your music. Aric
My mother was absolutely in love with Ray Price. She had a huge console LP player she would play his albums on, while us kids would tease her. Until one time when we were caught playing Ray Price at top volume and singing along! We didn't hear her car pull up, lol. Couldn't get away with teasing her about Ray Price anymore after that. This was one of Ma's favourite songs.
I remember my Mother dancing with me to this song when I was just a young child after She divorced my Dad. What I didn't comprehend then, I see so clear now.
This man still had great control of his voice at his advanced age. I'm not saying that because he has just departed this world, but because it is very true.
Ray does an awesome job with this song and his steel and strings are definately amazing...Ray just keeps getting better......and Ray, your version is the BEST! ..Thanks so much for posting this true classic.
I had the honor of driving his tour bus in the 1990's. when I first came on board I didn't remember much of his music from the past, the first show was in Owensboro Ky. as I was watching the show I suddenly remembered every song he sang. I believe he was 67 at the time and I was so impressed with the power and range of his voice at that age ( I was only 32 at the time, so I thought he was old). One thing I noticed back then was that when he sang he held the microphone far away from his mouth, his voice was that powerful. Through the rest of the years that I knew him and until his passing, it never changed. What a great man and a great voice, He is missed.
This is the best version of this song that I have ever heard. I get chills when I listen to it. The back up is so amazing. God, I can hear him singing in heaven
Oh, man. He still sells it. Such a great song, and it's inspiring to see him sing it so beautifully. This performance can teach young vocalists a great deal about phrasing.
I grew up listening to "real country singers" like Mr. Price and Tammy, George and Loretta. My mama had many of your albums and we would sing all your songs! I so miss hearing traditional country songs on radio. Thank goodness for youtube so we can continue to see great singers like Mr. Price :) Thank you!
Yes, Ray Price was one of the "real" country singers. His passing is a big loss for all country music fans. Btw - we have a great "Classic" country radio station in Seattle, KKXA ... It also streams online ...
My Mother and Father loved Ray,i grew up listening to Ray Price, Eddie Arnold,Ray Charles ,Just some fond Memories.I use to buy my parents these albums all the time for Christmas etc. Thank you so much for the Video.
This song was on a cassette tape that me and my dad (rip 1980) listened to and sang along with, when we made breakfast for the family. My father was a county player too. Those were happy memories. Now my dad can be with Ray ,play and sing and be, in Wherever-they-are-back-to-origin....
that damn Ray Price can really sing a country song!!! The young generation should really pay more attention to the true originals like this before they are gone.
Sniff Sniff cry.....these songs when played will always take me back home when I was a child. His songs filled the hallways with moms sweet voice chiming in. Thanks Mr. Ray. See you later
i picked this song to sing at a nursing home my mother was at & the response was overwhelming.of course being older made them love the song they grew up with. i was more than pleased to hear them sing along. i volunteer there & play music one day a week with another lady & they really look forward to their music! ALWAYS be thankful for your talents & use them to make someone smile !!
He is just so damned good. I LOVE this man- I was so heartbroken to hear he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. I heard Ray in an interview the other day on XM radio say that the cancer was officially in remission and that is such good news. Unfortunately pancreatic cancer usually doesn't stay away long though... I hate it, it took my best friend from me, as well as my uncle. I hope Ray sticks around for a good long time yet.
Grew up with this guy playing on my dads stereo record player. Saw him in Bakersfield at Buck Owens Crystal Palace. You're right, the band is SO tight and Ray can still sing it. Awesome!
Boy that was a great show, I have been to many of Ray's shows and this one was just the best small show of all times. He had everyone in his the palm of his hand and he touched everyones heart!..............Just glad to be there...........

I worked on a show with Ray Price at Cactus Pete's in Jackpot, Nevada around 1984. The Absolute Professional and a true Texas Gentleman. I learned much from him. Kenny Laursen
Oh, wow! My old friend Ray Price! He was one of the first ones I remember hearing as a young girl. And I notice it includes the line "to live together is a sin" which now has changed to "to waste our lives would be a sin". I used to drive my 1955 Chevy two-door as fast as the law allowed and blast out Ray Price.! This one and City Lights. Thanks for uploading. It's so great to hear again.
He was wonderful. We are from Scotland and on 20th June 2009 we were in a hotel in Santa Monica. I was watching The Mike Huckabee show and Ray was singing “Crazy” with Willie Nelson. It was amazing - I still remember it now. My husband was in the shower and I yelled “You got to come and see this!” There must a a clip somewhere of this duet it was on the Fox channel. I’ve searched you tube but it’s not there.
I shed a tear or two when i heard about is death It was Ray that created 4/4 shuffle, which is my all time favorite tempo always makes me want to dance
