The RB30 Budget Build Continues. Part 4 we finish the bottom end. Then go into how you make the RB25 head fit onto the RB30. What needs to be done and everything is done as if it was in your own garage.
We also cover the Oil pump issues and what pump you need to make your RB last for years to come.

Have just watched this whole 4-part series, and mate... what great content! Hat absolutely goes off to Darren. His patience, his willingness to take the time, teach, AND also allow it to all be documented on video is such a credit to the man. Early 911/930 PORSCHE used a cylinder stud steel//alloy called DILAVAR (A trademark by a FRENCH mob). The expansion rate very closely matched that of the aluminium 911/930 engine, BUT - get a bit of rust on those DILIVAR studs and it was not long before it would let go. I always wore gloves and always ensured that nobody ever spilled their BEER on them - HA.

Sick video thanks have you seen the internal oil feed for the vct its really easy to do if you google it you just have to pull the front plug out of head and drill a small hole in the brass plug jobs done and no external hose Love the build darren is so knowable

Part 5 may not happen mate as Ive moved to Sydney now. Darren will hopefully take over it but we will see. Fingers crossed I can get back there and make it happen some day.

Love this series!!! However, it is referred to as “budget build” but you never actually mention(unless I missed it), what the budget has been for this. Like even a ballpark figure of how much all this machining has cost would be helpful. Also would be good to know, say, if our budget to do this wasn’t as high as whatever yours is, what corners can be cut and still have a good turnout. Like for instance if my local machine shop can’t or won’t measure the weight of each of my rods and manually balance their weights machining the ends.

@@DriftSquid did indeed mate another great clip, just a small question I had my rb25neo rebuilt about 3 years ago (oem rebuild) but compared to other rbs mine is breathing a lot through the catch can could this be due to the rings being gapped to much ?

@@doriftoc_man934 could be a lot of things mate. The ring gap, the boost you run, could have been tuned poorly and damaged the rings, Could be over full of oil, could be the oil restrictors weren't put in, could be your cam cover setup, long story shortish, it could be a heap of things mate. I'd firstly be doing a leak down test and a compression test to see what's going on there. I've done a few videos explaining how to do this 👍

An amazing build,what happened to it did you use it and how much horsepower did it make , I am interested and planning to do the same build, but does it work with no issues , or should I go forge pistons etc. I am planning to use the rb30de block the single came carburetor

So this engine ended up in Thailand. We needed an RB30 block asap and built it into an RB32 and shipped it over to Thailand. Crazy how these things work.

I gotta be totally honest here mate. I have zero clue about RB30's. This was my first ever RB30 I'd built and technically Darren did it all. I was just learning and watching. Id say they RB30 head is totally different though.

Mine was similier build stock internals rebuilt rb30 bottom rb25 head I ran upto 35psi and 740hp

Any chance you could give or get info on how much this build would cost for the average person- Parts cost machining cost Labour and probably a time frame on how long the build would take 🤙🏼

Would have gone in the 32 but the engine in it was sweet. This engine is now over in Thailand of all places. It makes it way over there recently for a special project

@@yowhatsdoin8838 You shouldn't have pressure in either of them. Only pressure should be between your pistons and valves. If the pressure is in your sump or your head then something is leaking "Broken piston rings, valves cooked" and it shouldn't be.
