I found your channel when you redid your garage when I needed motivation to clean mine. Glad I did because you have a sweet freaking scooter. I have an old spree with a big bore on it that's been in a shed for the last 3 years. I'll probably revive it here soon.

I have learned so much from your videos over the years and your attention to detail has helped me more than you know. I don't ride scooters but my boys race quad has a scooter motor and I love watching you because I pick up on little things that can give him an edge on the track even if it's a totally different engine and setup.

I had a similar design carb on my RS125 (VHSB37). You have to be very careful with those rods that keep the floats aligned. I had one of them slightly bent during assembly which led to floats being stuck midway and during test drive my carb floated straight on the ground like crazy. I'm so excited to hear this thing run and now I should continue watching to the end

The scooter has definitely improved from the initial tuning. I always wanted this kit. MXS70 CYLINDER KIT. They claim 29bhp out of the box! Obviously huge carb and MXS exhaust. I contemplated building a 50cc mhr. I know someone who raced one in a scooter. 15-20bhp

@@MidnightCoding I must be lucky for a change, because I took it to the show after and ripped it in short bursts for hours on 2 different days. I don't ride around fast though. Most of the time I'm putting around very rich at 1/8 throttle maybe and my normal mix ratio is 32:1. No shortage of oil here.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 2 года назад
@@MidnightCoding I use to use 50:1. Since switching, my pistons and cylinders look better. Can't say I really notice a power difference. I know that older studies have shown richer oil ratios can actually improve power from reducing friction. Not sure if this is true with current oils because I haven't seen any scientific studies. I did do my own experiment years ago and noticed that RPM increased as I went from lean to rich oil mix ratios while adjusting jetting as close as I could for the percentage difference so that should have had minimal effect.

Such a bummer for wheel rub on the exhaust, it was visible at first mount that it's too close to the rim, too bad that you didn't noticed it ... Do you have in plan to mount an arm support for the rear wheel? I know that some high end setups was prone to breake engine block without it... You should also try to stiffen up rear shock, from jumping in the garage it looks that it is near the end, and you don't wan't to strike pothole bottoming out...and last one :D I think that would be nice to fabricate some carb bracket if it's possible to keep it more rigid, and less prone to touch the fender and scrub it :) Anyways love the project, and can't wait for an update !! Have a great time at the car show!! \m/ :)
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 2 года назад
You are the 2nd person to mention the swing arm brace. I may look into one. I'd like a different shock as well. This one has always been a bit soft for my weight, but it is pretty comfy to ride and doesn't bottom out. I'm mostly considering a different one to stiffen it up and see if that lets it control power a little more at some point.

@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot Год назад
As long as the extension is straight and rigid enough, it shouldn't matter. If you believe that extension length matters in that case, then you would also need to change torque based on socket length/height so every time you tightened a fastener you'd have to adjust torque settings or torque wrenches would come with their own socket sets. If it's something like a crowfoot wrench, then it does matter if the socket is not at a 90 degree angle to the torque wrench or if you have a swivel or something that alters the angle it will matter.

Really neat stuff! But out of curiosity, isn't the point of a scooter is to be >49cc to evade the licensing and registration requirements? Now it needs the same requirements as a real motorcycle. I mean with the money I'm sure you've put into this beauty, you surely could have bought a nice used street bike that puts this to absolute shame. Performance wise.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 2 года назад
I actually tried to register this scooter as a motorcycle a couple of times years ago. The reply that I got was basically once a 50 always a 50 in their eyes. There are many reasons for this and other stuff that I do to small bikes. I really enjoy it. My friends know me and know that if I had a bike that was scary fast, I'd still want to work on it. I had a turbo Mustang and poured money into it for years and I have more fun with the scoots. If you take a sportbike and work on it so it's faster... it's a fast sportbike. Not that it isn't cool, but we all expect them to be fast. This thing is so much different than what it started. To go from 42MPH tucked down and struggling to keep up with traffic in stock form to something that I'm afraid to twist the throttle too quick on from a stop because it absolutely will toss me off is just cool IMO. I really enjoy experimenting and learning and I think scoots are a great platform for that, especially if you aren't rich. Plus, two-strokes are badass. Enjoy them before they decide to crush them all or something.

Mix screw was left as it came. I adjusted a little at the show to lean it, but it didn't make much difference and I don't know where it is. Prob not more than 1 more turn and I turned the idle speed up a little. I think mostly because it loads up 1/8 throttle and below and most of the riding there is idle and very low throttle so it loads up and then idle drops. I'd think the shim under the needle clip being removed may help some, but I don't know if that makes it too lean for part throttle cruise. thank you@@49ccscoot do you have any ongoing 4stroke low CC projects i could check out? i recently got myslef gpx gentleman 200 and given its weight its got not enought power, especially considering the fact that oficcial website says that it has like 20hp when in reality its more like 11.6, so any help would be appreciated.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 9 месяцев назад
@@pironiero I would suggest trying to find out if the engine platform is common. Maybe there are big bore kits and other performance parts that bolt on. Ignition timing, carb tuning, exhaust and air filter aren't going to get you there. 12HP is not a lot for 200cc so maybe there's some porting and compression change to help, but it's still way easier if there's a big bore kit.

If you ever service the carb... take it totally apart for cleaning... it gets you back to where you were quickly. It's not a must... but a convenience. Work smarter, not harder kinda thing.

@@GorrillaFastTv I've practiced some in the past. Used to ride little bikes that would wheelie in high gear before scoots, but the balance point eludes me. Since breaking a bunch of stuff in a crash (not a wheelie) a few years ago, I just don't have the desire to try that hard at it 'cause everything already hurts.

thats what you get for torque spec'ing the exhaust bracket bolds mate xD why the fuck even torque them that not even needed hand tight is more than enough xD always the americans they do things so weird on mopeds goddamm and people dangling there waterpumps is just lazyness i would put it some were were its covered up and exstentr the lines a bit i realy dont understand why people do it like that fucking weird

@49ccscoot 2 года назад
I use torque specs to avoid stuff like that. IMO Malossi could use bolts that will withstand factory torque, since that's what they tell you to use. The exhaust is expensive. They can't splurge for torx or higher grade?
