Imagine being 6yo sitting in front of this at your grandparents house, watching Saturday morning cartoons and you look back and tell your grandparents that one day I'm going to watch a guy repair this on my phone through an app called RU-vid and I'll be watching it in 1080p. You'd be called crazy😂

Man those Jukeboxes! One of my fondest memories of my youth was laying on the floor in front of a jukebox like that second one, mom was a cook at a small greasy spoon cafe right after we moved off the farm and into the city. I would stop in after school and the owner would grab a soup bowl and fill it with mashed potatoes then cover it in thick very brown beef gravy, that was my supper. Some times I would stay and wash dishes to make a few extra quarters so I could go to a movie on the weekend, for some reason I had stayed till closing that night and while mom and the owner were cleaning up, mom put a quarter in that Jukebox and put on Johnny Cash and the Tennessee flat top box. I lay down in front of that speaker and watched the dancing lights as Cash blasted out his anthem. Man that was music, I loved it. Still do. I had that song play at mom's funeral just after New Years day when she passed away at 97 years old.

Please note that the white plastic assembly that has the purity rings in it also has a rectangular section that has magnets it it too. Those magnets are to help in setting up the blue gun convergence. It has to remain stationary above the blue gun. The whole assembly is rotating on the neck of the CRT while he is trying to adjust the purity. The assembly has to be tight enough against the CRT neck that the blue magnets remain stable above the blue gun. You might want to use a large nylon plastic cable tie to secure it to the CRT neck. The original assembly had a metal ring with a rubber coating on it that helped grip the CRT glass neck without putting too much stress on the glass neck at any point. Those metal clamps did get rusty over time and often broke and had to be replaced. In any case obtaining purity would indeed be nearly impossible as long as that assembly keeps rotating on the neck of the CRT while the purity rings are moved.

The 1950 Seeburg M100B was their first 45rpm jukebox. Seeburg V200 was the first to use Seeburgs new "Tormat Electronic Memory unit" instead of the old electromechanical pin bank system. Its nice to see that your V200 still has the rotating title drum. Those were failure prone and most had them removed and a giant static title board that obscured the mechanism installed in its place

Cool to see the TV working well. That Seeburg 200 selection jukebox was the first consumer device to use core memory Seeburg called it Tormat the other device from 1955 that used core memory was IBM's SAGE system for the USAF. Very awesome to see "The Cramps" jukebox as well. On the WurliTzer 1015, there is a "Quick Heat" circuit for the tube filaments that puts 12.6 V on them for about 3 seconds and then drops back down to 6.3V, that way by the time the mechanism has selected the record the amp is warmed up, most collectors disable that circuit as it is hard on the tubes, especially the 6L6 output tubes. The factory 15" "Woofer" would have been a Jensen ElectroDynamic speaker with about a 5,600 ohm field coil. The early 1015s used an Astatic crystal cartridge, later they switched to the Zenith "Cobra" tone arm with a light tracking stylus. The "Bubbler tubes" are full of metal formate which boils at about 108 F to heat the tubes there is a 15W ceramic wire wound resistor at the bottom of the front cabinet the tube fits into the center hole of the resister with a copper shim to make for a tight fit, when a coin is inserted power is applied to the resistors in the bubbler tube.
@tarstarkusz
@tarstarkusz Месяц назад
Wurlitzer had a system where it would run the heaters at reduced voltage basically all the time when the jukebox was on. Then, when the selection was made, the correct voltage would be applied and by the time the record started playing, the tubes were fully warmed up.

Yes! That rectangular white plastic part of the purity assembly is called the "Blue Lateral Magnet". When the round white plastic collar is rotated it causes the magnets to come closer to the CRT neck or farther away in that part of the assembly. The result is that when looking at the cross hatch pattern it moves the blue vertical lines left or right so that you can get the blue to line up with the red and green at the center of the screen. It is one of the steps to achieve static center convergence. Of course, the blue gun vertical movement is achieved with the small blue static convergence plastic knob in front of the Purity/Blue Lateral magnet assembly. RCA achieved an easy to set up system when they introduced the large plastic collar that the red, blue and green static magnets and dynamic coils are mounted in. There is even a screw on the bottom of the assembly that will raise the yoke up and down some in order to achieve the best overall results of blue gun static and dynamic convergence.

If the bubble tubes use the same stuff that's in the bubbling Christmas lights, then the liquid is dichloromethane. This is a solvent that boils at just 103F. It is easily boiled by a small heating element at the bottom, and it re-condenses into liquid as it cools near the top.

You should read up on the theory of operation on the Model 530 amplifier in the Wurlitzer 1900 service manual. The Wurlitzer Continentals used Zenith cobra cartridges which behave like a coil in a tank circuit to generate the audio signal. Really unlike anything else I've seen before. Getting a working cartridge is really difficult nowadays though.

Warren was an amazing guy who worked for Seeburg in his younger days and was in the jukebox repair bussiness for 70 years. He was a fountain of knowledge and always happy to help. It was a sad day when he closed up shop in El Monte. He had a treasure trove of parts upstairs. He had a couple jukeboxes he worked on that belonged to Danny DeVito,repaired jukeboxes for Hugh Hefner at the Playboy mansion,and had tons of neat stories from his years in the bussiness.
