This is side 1 of a dealer-only CED videodisc- first segment shows the 1984 line of (color!) video cameras. Camcorders were still a year or so away, so to shoot video you had to carry around a portable VCR with a separate camera. The highest-end camera here is one of the first tubeless consumer cameras.
Then at 17:47 comes the 2nd segment on the RCA Digital Command Center, which was the first attempt at a "universal remote". It could only control RCA products so if you bought a TV and had another brand of VCR you'd have a big remote with useless buttons on half of it.

This video is amazing! I was 8 years old in 1983, and if I had seen this setup as a child, it would have seemed like some kind of futuristic, space-aged technology! LOL!

"... and step into the future!" In 1983 I would have been 11 or 12. Hard to believe how far things have come since then.

I was 13 yrs old at that time.. SHIT, how I wanted one SO BADLY then! Knowing I had absolutely NO CHANCE of getting one. Back then, anyone who had one. We would think, is that the news caster broad casting?? SHIT,but knowing it's actually a regular person to own it. I say to myself "DAMN! What's it like to BE ON TV!" I thought that was SO COOL! On the other hand I did have grudges of JEALOUSY of any one who had one.

@Mralexspanishprm They lost a TON of money after their videodisc format failed. It was expected to have been the biggest thing ever, but instead was a colossal failure.

Oh, and these tripods looks like one I had just from JVC. Mhhh,,,,

These cameras and even the JVP900 loos very familiar to the Products JVC hat at these times. The portable VCR by JVC Has even the same battery slot and Camera connector. Is it me or are these RCA Product very much like the JVC ones?
