Thanks for the Test from Germany. This Setup really blows my Mind. Clear Sound and awesome Bass for EDM. I will buy tomorrow a Second rig for Stereo Sound. Still haven't heared 2 of them. I hope, that it's enough for 250-350 People. Only EDM. Thumbs up and keep testing. Greetings

you should be fine with 2 for 250-350 peeps...if you need to augment subs, use some of the SUB series boxes and they will play nice with the EVOX 12

Question....we're a part of a church holding max 300 people. It's an old Catholic church but we are not a Catholic church....we're definitely contemporary when it comes to music. Full band, 3-4 vocals, guitar, keys, bass, sax, violin and electric drums. Would you think that two Evox12's would do the trick? We're running two Bose L1 (first year models) and we're at the clipping point when it comes to low end. We set our Bose behind us and we go without monitors and it works great but I'm looking for a richer/thicker/thumpier tone. Is thumpier a word? If not it should be. Thanks for your input!
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
Jared- we have deployed the EVOX 8 systems in a church with 200 and excellent results and plenty of good low end for the bass and electric Roland drums they use. The EVOX12's should work well for that size of congregation and give you sufficient low end too. You can always as an RCF dedicated subs as well. The crossover point on the EVOX 12 is higher than a typical subwoofer and sends quite a bit of lower content to the 15" drivers. But with that said, it should work well.

Hello, we are about to renew the equipment. We thought we direct us to RCF Evox 12, 1 pair. We usually animate rooms and the outdoors in general Dj. Our question is how far people can we add sound correctly with 1 pair Evox 12? Thank you in advance for your answer.

The top boxes will carry a room and we would estimate 300 people for an event with EVOX 12's. The top box will go further than the bottom low frequency unit to which you may find you will need to add subs for additional low end. For smaller events 100-150 or up to 200, the EVOX 12 will be great for DJ. For a live band, you can get a bit more coverage, but again, may need additional low end from a subwoofer, as the LF unit of the EVOX is crossed over higher than a normal subwoofer speaker.

I wonder how these would compare to a: Art 710-A MKII & Sub 705-AS II. Any feedback on this? There's a $1,000 difference in price too. I can get a set of 710-tops+705-subs @ $3,000.00 total in California. A set of Evox 12 would be $4,000.00. Just wondering what would be a better investment; as far as in sound, mobility, and overall performance.
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 8 лет назад
+DJVetz510 The EVOX12 would blow the 710's away...if you can get EVOX 12's for $4000 i would like to know where as they are scarce and not in stock and typically are selling for $2499...if you are getting them for that price someone is almost giving them to you at cost. The sight lines of the EVOX12 are much better and a more focused top. Message me the dealer you are talking to for the $4000....that is a no,no

trinityprosound I'm a DJ and while I a m looking for mobility, I also don't want to sacrifice sound. The type of sound I like is clear, crisp, and good low end. I play lots of HipHop, Latin, and Salsa music (I'm also, predominantly, a wedding DJ). Which would you recommend a DJ like me to go with: EVOX 12 or ART732A+Sub705ASII? You replies are very much appreciated and hold great credibility to me (I have followed your videos for a while now and you alway have great things to teach and share).
@trinityprosound

The 732A is a good top, but if you want the quality you are looking for go with the 708 or the 8003 for a sub. That combo will be amazing. The next step up would be a NXL24A with 8004, now that is a killer rig.

The iPhone microphone isn't very good for judging RTA, especially in those cases that re-direct the sound from the speaker/microphone. I'm also not sure that an iPhone app can register Db accurately with their small dynamic range. That's what Iv'e noticed on the iPhone 6.
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 8 лет назад
+djlobb the app has been calibrated to take all that into consideration, that is why it costs what is does. but overall does a really slick job for RTA on the fly
@djlobb
@djlobb 8 лет назад
trinityprosound According to the app, you weren't getting much frequency above 6KHz which isn't true because the camera was picking up heaps of high fidelity details. I also think you would get a more reliable reading if you take the phone out of that case. Those cases mess with the quality of sound not only entering the iPhone's microphone but also the sound of the loudspeaker.

In a couple of comments you mention using four of these for larger gigs. I'm curious as to the arrangement of the second pair. If placed two per side, how do you avoid coupling/cancellation issues? Or is that less noticeable on this style of box, compared to a traditional two-way with a horn?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
Bob...the EVOX with their wide coverage would have to be deployed at almost 90 degree angles, but putting the LF boxes together and rotating the tops so that the main pair face straight out and the other pair off to the side for larger event coverage. With the wide angle of dispersion of the EVOX and similar speakers you would not want to have them overlapping much in coverage. A set with additional subwoofers for low end will do some decent size events with a set of EVOX 12's 300 or so....
@bobjosjor8307
@bobjosjor8307 7 лет назад
trinityprosound, that's kind of what I was getting at. I could definitely see these as great delay stacks but I just couldn't see these as being quite as scalable as more traditional cabinets, i.e. horn loaded two-ways where I've stacked them with the top one upside down, horn-to-horn.
@DjGCue71

I have these speakers. running them straight to my Pioneer DDJ-SZ controller. but I feel that they lack power. Someone told me to add a small mixer (like the one in your video) to get better audio, is that correct? Thank you
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
The mixer should have sufficinet output levels without going to a separate mixer. you may just be suffering from not enough rig for your gig ? The EVOX 12's are great , but they are not subwoofers, they are LF drivers that go lower than a typical 15" 2 way box. You may need a separate dedicated subwoofer like the 905AS
@carlotheatheist
@carlotheatheist 5 лет назад
Oh i think the best subwoofer to be paired for that evox 12 was rcf 8004 sub as.
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 5 лет назад
8004 is best single for the price point and would really give a EVOX system some awesome low end using the built in crossover of the 8004
@carlotheatheist
@carlotheatheist 5 лет назад
@@trinityprosound i see. I agree with you. Also needless to say 8004 can also give a harmonic low frequency for evox system. So the evox 12 low speaker was mid bass only? I mean it is not really that kind of very low. Like what active or passive subwoofer doing?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 5 лет назад
The 15" in the EVOX 12 is doing double duty, trying to do subwoofer and LF of a standard 2-way cabinet, there is compromise with the higher xover point. But for an all in one system that does a decent job of the LF and somewhat subwoofer duty the EVOX 12 is a great system
@mikeschlup4164
@mikeschlup4164 9 лет назад
that was amazing... sounds like you lost the low mids a little back at 100 feet... what about 4 ?... the two top cabinets stacked?.. at what distance apart should they be apart width wise for the least distortion?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 9 лет назад
+mike schlup depending on your event, but to get a decent spread 24-32 feet would be a good distance outdoors, indoors maybe 20-25

I just got a pair of these, Is there an optimal volume setting, I've used mine a few times and set the volume around "2 O clock" And how about that little button, should it be set to pushed in or out.
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 6 лет назад
We run them at 12 o'clock position. For the to boost or not to boost, if running low volumes where you need the extra LF energy for background music, etc. then boost would be OK, if you are up in volume and running hard boost will make the speakers limit early as too much LF is being produced. Input sensitivity should be on LINE
@dodgingtheworld

I own the j8s and want to know how well does the low mid, mids travel when using a separate subwoofer (subs being on an aux) considering that the low mids and mids will be on the ground ? I own prx812s but would love to just use the j8s for smaller clubs, but I'm concerned on the tone sounding thin when too many people are around the evoxs' "sub"
@dodgingtheworld
@dodgingtheworld 4 года назад
Also! I want to try to use a separate sub like a rcf 905 to be able to get a more full range system sound
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 4 года назад
You will get more out of separate subs, issues with coverage will be anyone or thing blocking the sound from the speakers. if you have a good size crowd in front of the speakers, coverage is going to be reduced. It does take some distance for a wave to develop for the low end and you are going to notice more low end 20 feet out from them than right in front of them as well. As we have said , the LF is not a subwoofer but doing double duty as a low frequency driver and quasi sub low end. If you use the separate subs with a cross over around 90hz as found on the RCF subs, like 7 series and 9 series, you will be able to run the J8's a bit harder without clipping or destroying them.
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 4 года назад
The 7 series subs or the 905 will work well with the J8, use the built in crossover on the sub to the J8 and can run the J8 harder without clipping. Set at 90Hz for the crossover on the subwoofer output.

I own a set of evox 8 s and very happy with them ... but for bigger venues it's lacking volume .. -and have to push gains a little to hot on desk ... would the evox 12 s allows me to go into more medium size venues .. ???
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
Possibly. Keep in mind that the EVOX systems are still 2 way speakers, with a LF driver that sits on the floor vs. being in a cabinet. It is not a subwoofer. Even though they do a great job, pushing the low end with the EVOX 8 or EVOX 12 will clip the amp prematurely. For larger events the EVOX 12 will work great, but I would ADD a dedicated subwoofer and run through the subs crossover so you can not clip the EVOX boxes too soon. Something like the 905AS would be great, as it also looks like the EVOX bottom boxes. I have found with our EVOX 8, 12 and some other mfr. similar systems that added a dedicated sub and using the cross over allows you to get more volume from the smaller drivers and not clipping from excessive LF content below 100hz.
@paddybtipp1

trinityprosound .. do you just plug this sub you speak of into the out on the evox 8 or 12 ...?

@@trinityprosound nice review thanks for the quick response. Have you done any reviews on the ev etx 18 sub or yorkville esp18, i hear that they are the 2 subs to compare for something you could get at any guitar center and I will mostly be using whichever subs I decide to go with in church for about 250 people and for some outdoor events if you have any advice on either of these two subs or recommend something else comprable I would appreciate it

We are dealers for both ,but have no history with them, most of what is at GC is junk IMO. Some of the SUB series from RCF we have used like the 8004 , it takes more than 2 QSC subs , the KW181's to even come close to what the 8004 does. Many of the mfr. are not truthful about their specs, and present them in a way you think you are getting something amazing when you are not...I would take the EV over the Yorkville though, we have sold some of the LS subs and they were very flabby sounding to us...

Dear I dont Think So. The EVOX systems are being used for live events indoors and out. We have a DJ using 4 of them in high school gyms to do dances, we have many in churches of 200 or more with full on bands of 6-9 musicians and vocalists that hit some high SPL levels. The EVOX series boxes are a power house in a small package due to the vertical column control of the sound.

No to answer your question. It is a hybrid of sorts that has a 15" LF driver crossed over at 180hz. It does a very good job with the low end, but to get what you are asking, you need a speaker an dedicated sub. Look at the NXL24 and SUB8004 combo. That will do what you are asking very well. 90hz cross over and plenty of power for the 18" sub, but you will need 2x , one set per side of your event , also the new updated SUB8003AS is a good contender with a ART box or HD box for a top.

@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
No, a VTX system can be expanded on to build a significant system and array. The EVOX 12 and the entire EVOX line as others is limited on the line. You will only get the one box shot. A column line system such as the NXL24 or NXL44 may be a start. Better yet TTL6A would be something that would compete with a dual 10 VTX system, but again is limited. The line arrays from RCF would complete with the VTX boxes.

Rcf and DB technologies being basically the sa.e company. Hiw does the evox 12 compare to the es1203? Also more of these column systems are coming out with build mixers. Think that will be an update to come in future versions from rcf/db technologies?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 4 года назад
The ES1203 has more low end IMO. I dont think they are going to do much more with built in mixers, they can only do so much that is marketable to the masses and a system with a bigger mixer and more ability would not market well to all areas and at that point a dedicated mixer would be in order for a small band.

I am looking for great quality of sound at higher SPL and wondering if either will fade less when pushed hard throughout the night? I have even considered the TT Boxes. From listening to them all, how would you rank them? Unfortunately I have no dealers in my area to take a listen to compare, so any input you could give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The NXL24 boxes are like the EVOX 12 on steroids. The output from a set of NXL24 boxes wound not be an issue with 400-600 guests. You would most likely want 2 per side to get them up and throw over the top of heads. Coupled with SUB8004 or 8006 is an amazing system. We have sold many of the NXL boxes to DJ's and also bands and sound companies and their response is OMG for output and quality. Easy set up and great for small size and sight lines in a venue. The TT boxes are nice as well but the TT6A is large, but has fantastic output, but a a premium price point. You will not be disappointed with the NXL24's or NXL44's

+dee fresh for hip hop the subs will be acceptable to a certain level...depending on how much low end you like with your mix, we would recommend another sub per side for that extended low end that EDM and hip hop will need. the subs do a good job for overall dance levels in general...more low end is always what is desired, and there is no substitute for sufficient rig for the gig.

Evox 12 system can play for the 200 peoples ourdoor ok?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
Yes, a single unit could do that , but 2 would be better for sure, less directional sounding and more disperse, but yes ONE EVOX 12 could do that

when we used evox12 for 200 pp ourdoor, enought for sub when they play remix?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 7 лет назад
you "should" be ok with sub for 200 with a pair of EVOX12. Low end will taper off as you are 50+ feet away from boxes and may need to add additional dedicated subwoofer. The EVOX 12 does a great job, but with these systems, it is not a subwoofer but an extended LF driver that really does not do what a dedicated subwoofer can do.

can u test the bose f1 system
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 8 лет назад
We are not Bose dealers, and the F1 system requires so much processing with the separate processor that this and other systems out do the Bose F1 hands down. We recently sold a small steerable system against an F1 and blew it away.

@@trinityprosound Hello John! The F1 system doesn't need any processing with a separate processor. I own them. I do use a BBE 282 IX, but it's not required. The L1 MODEL 2/s needs the Tonematch mixer. Which small steerable system blew the F1 away? The F1 SUBS can bang like a QSC 181 if tuned right. The DB TECH 1203's subs never could hit like that to my ears.

How about volume of evox in this video?
@trinityprosound

The Evox 12 volume levels and SPL output for its size and power is amazing. Can do decent size events or corporate work no issues.

we recommend right a 12 o'clock for gain, that is pretty much how we run all our boxes

Sir which is better Bose F1 or RCF evox 12?
@trinityprosound
@trinityprosound 8 лет назад
We had an opportunity to sell a F1 system into a church...we chose something different for that application. Not a huge bose fan , ever. The EVOX 12 is all wood, Bose is not. RCF uses their tried and true DigiPro amps. 15" LF driver vs. dual 10s, smaller form factor with RCF. Since bose has always needed a lot of internal processing for their speakers, we really shy away with those and while RCF does some processing on the top HF box and a bit on the LF box...the drivers are standard in the RCF line up. Better construction all around for the RCF unit. The beam forming of the top RCF EVOX 12 box is amazing out to over 100 feet away. As you can see we are partial to the RCF line, but that is why we own 6 figures worth of their speakers and not Bose.

Why did you have reverb on the music?
@trinityprosound

There was not any reverb on the music, how did you come up with that?
@Sam-ht5dk

trinityprosound On the mixer, it shows a reverb effect selected, and the fx send and return (red knobs) turned up

it does not work on that mixer...we will make sure in the next videos those are off so there is no mistake that it would be on.
