@@TheAmateurEditor if that were the case they would have to return all of the latino products they exploit. Another pet peeve I have is when they declare an afro latino just as black. That's not how it works, they have another culture that shouldn't be ignored because they can't get passed the "black is my only personality trait".
@Dr. Shaym: I think the point Jlongbone is trying to make is there shouldn't be a certain way to act to be accepted, period; via race, religion or gender. Everyone should be okay with being themselves and fuck what everyone else thinks, basically. Racism doesn't exist in just one or two races or in one place...it exists everywhere, in every single race.
@@ao9688 for sure they attend a social studies school, obviously (I discarded Law, STEM, Med School, and other high IQ careers). Maybe pursuing a degree on ethnic/cultural affairs with emphasis on gender fluidity and women empowerment.
"hide your shea butter" :[ ... But I have eczema, and shea/cocoa butter helps a lot more than conventional lotions. You want me to just have itchy, dry elbows that crack and bleed in the winter because I'm not black? That's kinda mean of you...
I am a white dude who's attracted to black women, and i have been called racist for this...and sexist as well. When did liking something or someone = hatred of that thing or person? I would REALLY like to know this.
I agree. We should be building a future where we don't have to fit into any race beyond "human being". Skin doesn't matter. The land you were birthed on doesn't matter either. We're all 1 people and we should live in harmony.
Cats and wolves come in a variety of colors. If animals can be smart enough to get that color doesn't matter (cuz they're the same species), people should be smart enough to do the same. The girls in the video need to wake up.
When I was in my 1st year at university in England in the mid 00's, I had a major crush on a black girl. I managed to muster up the courage to ask her out on a date and I was super excited when she said yes. Our one date went to hell when we sat at the student's union and literally the only people that were giving us dirty looks were other black students... We both felt super uncomfortable and never went out again. In my following years I went out on dates with girls from other countries and cultures but NONE of them resulted in us getting death stares from other students...
1:20 "Hide your shea butter. Hide your coconut oil. Hide your lock gel." Me: "Hide your kids. Hide your wife. And hide your girlfriend cause y'know they snatching everbody out there..."
Funny thing is, when no other ethnic groups than black people buy those products, there wouldn't be any more of those in short time, because.. the manufacturers would go bancrupt. Companies don't care about race, they care for profit. Their products are for everyone to buy, so what the hell would hiding their shit accomplish anyway? I know they're trying t talk metaphorical here, but they are hella naive.
The idea that an identity can be stolen and needs to be defended means that your own hold on your own identity is weak and seeded in insecurity These are college students who are so privileged that they believe that having other people be exposed to certain cultures endangers those cultures because they have nothing to contribute and need to draw attention to themselves to feel as if they actually have something of substance Thanks for coming to my ted talk
Also, I know that some poetry is free-verse and doesn't have to rhyme, but this slam poetry is just an excuse for people to yell at their captive audiences, which is to say their audiences are likely being held captive and tied to their seats :P
I'D LIKE TO TELL YOU ALL.... HOW MUCH I HATE MY TAXES... I HAVE TO PAY THEM... I DONT LIKE IT... UNCLE SAM.... UNCLE DAM... SAM I AM... PLEASE STOP...... thank you.
lost my head when you said weave out Yeti.lol. I use a Shay butter body body wash. I bought it at Kroger. The first place I ever saw shea butter was a black man who got me to purchase it at his kiosk. he was openly selling it in the mall. didn't know it was a black thing he just said it was good for moisturizing skin. so much for keeping those secrets when they're selling them at the mall. LOL
Bold of them to make all of these assumptions. Especially the one about white girls dating black men being racist toward black women. Okay but why would I even date a black man if I’m racist toward the black women? I’ve dated a black woman too. Also, if I do have mixed raced children, I don’t want people like this putting hateful ideas like this toward half their family who I know would love and cherish them.
The fact u even were going in the first place is admirable, I can't stand listening to poetry , in my opinion its just one of those things that should be enjoyed individually and read to oneself as opposed to hearing it on a shitty sound stage thru terrible microphones and spoken by pompous people who think theyre brilliant and could make William fuckin Shakespeare blush
two questions: one: would it be racist if i made a list of the stuff black people would miss out on if white people "kept their secrets" (and if i said to white people to keep their secrets)? Two: If so, then why you calling me racist and ignore these lovely (*gag*) ladies?
1:05 Some high school janitor is either clutching his heart in agony at seeing where his missing mop ended up or splooging all over himself, ironically with thoughts of fluid absorbancy. Her hair looks like grandma's decorative curtain tiebacks. The shit is too much! She dyed it with old newspaper ink. Gray ass twizzlers. I'm half expecting her to shift into gray-scale to match her hair, then blend into the background like a curtain wipe flashback. (no, curtain isn't the theme of the day). Her hair color is called "despondent middle schooler." It's a head full of Super Ss. She got the hair to match her judgemental ways. She just needs to cover herself with a black robe to match her lack of inner light. *Insert Requisite specific dog breed, sheep and sheepdog joke*
This is what happens when the greatest fear you ever felt is the uncertainty of whether or not your daddy payed your cellphone bill. Also. Is this girl calling out cultural apropiation!? Hey! I got a message for you from England. They say that if you wanna use their judges wigs, at least have the decency of studying laws before you do so!
0:14 I actually like her hair, but the color is giving me old witch vibes and the dress gives me Haitian auntie 😂 Girl in orange is totally slaying her look tho 👌
I fail to understand the appeal of poetry slams to get political messages across. It feels like the medium used BY and FOR people with no attention spans or valid points... "but if we say it in unison or randomly employ repetition, we'll sound profound!"
Please never stop publishing these vijeos! Yours is, in my humble opinion, THE MOST UNDERRATED CHANNEL ON ALL OF THESE RU-vidS!! Thank you for doing what you do!
First I love your videos, second I am sorry but I am a white chick who likes rap, jazz, and R&B. And I watch movies like Chi-raq, Boyz in the hood, Next Friday, Selma; but I can't like these things cus I am white. Please
Does shea butter magically only work on skin that's a certain color? Because I'm not black and that stuff cleared up some of my eczema, also it's just really moisturizing so...???
Speaking of college, given all the objective insanity they've allowed to become legitimized courses over the years..... your videos should be a required curriculum for any and every major. Just to undo some of the damage.
I think they're being more racist towards black people if anything. If you say that a specific way of doing your hair, or using certain products, or certain dance moves defines you and your culture, then thats pretty messed up.
I think the way they presented this was wrong I also think they are bigots. I also think if they would do more research they would understand that yes a lot of the shit we come up with is hot cool, but why can’t the rest of the world want to follow copying is the best form of flattery. What I do see as an issue though is the cultural appropriation with our music is a fact not even gonna lie. Jazz was an art form that was predominantly black and if you go on iTunes to look up jazz the face of jazz is Kenny g no one has a problem with him he’s awesome but our art was taken and made mainstream to the point that the face you think about when u hear that type of music is no longer from the people who created it. The same happened with rick and roll a person would argue you to death that Elvis made rick that’s why he’s the king, but it took him decades to admit he owes his style to multiple black artists he’s “admired”(cough cough copied)Eminem would tell you the same he’s literally said he’s the new Elvis. Bruno Mars is another example he didn’t start out with that sound he just knew that no one was making that type of music mainstream anymore so he took out his pompadour and curled his hair now he looks more “urban”. I can go on and on but the truth is when u see history repeating itself u kinda feel frustrated when u can’t do anything about it. On that note most of what these ladies say I disagree with because they’re a lot of cultures that don’t want us at their dinner table let’s not get as ignorant as them ok worry about yourself and how u can make your community grow than u can tackle outside things that’s aren’t as important. I’m gonna be 100 percent honest as a people we’re our biggest downfall cause we have yet to unify and actually see and treat each other with the respect we want other cultures too
From 6:20 to 7:10 pure fucking gold. I've been trying to tell people that telling your kids "white people are the cause of all your problems", etc causes a lot more problems then they realize.
