"I'm willing to overlook pretty much any flaw in a story if the characters' captivating." Translation: "I'm willing to ignore a movie being terrible if it promotes an agenda I like."
Translation : I'm willing to ignore a movie being absolute shit, as long as the protagonist doesn't have dangley-bits b/t his legs... Now a "she" w/ dangley-bits -well, that's a diff story.
See the statement there isn't even something I find outlandish. Unfortunately for reviewer, Ghostbusters 2016 barely has characters (more caricatures), much less captivating characters. So even if right idea, wrong example.
She talks about people mocking girls for being obsessed with Twilight and Justin Bieber as if nobody has ever made fun of male Trekkies and Star Wars fans.
Well, they may be, but it's all good, because later in life they get all that privilege money and get to be bosses at some company exploiting women, right? Right? I'm still waiting on the phone call....
I like the fact that it starts off as a review of Ghostbusters and then devolves into a rant about ‘girl vs boy movies/male gaze’ or some shit. I mean, talk about a complete derailment.
She has a funko pop figure for each brain cell I lost listening to her... They're kind of a metaphor for her too - generic, big headed, little creativity involved
She thinks this shit will sell like gold one day dude xD that's why she keeps the fucking box loooool pls someone help i'm dying this shit is too funny looooool
“Why are men allowed to do this” stood out to me. Who is allowing men to do anything ? Who is preventing women from doing the same things men do? Oh so people on the internet complain about how annoying teenage girls are and that prevents them from doing things they like in the same way boys do? That sounds like a personal problem more than sexism. maybe teenage girls need to be taught to grow a thicker skin.
Also the fact that she calls girls showing excitement for things that they typically like 'showing passion', but boys showing excitement for things that we typically like, is us getting 'worked up'.
I like how she talks about guys not being ridiculed for liking pop culture things while having collectibles and posters which are things that guys are ridiculed for liking and having when they are an adult.
@@robinthrush9672 Depends on how profitable the popculture is. Like how star wars had a medium sized base of passionate fans but once disney bought it and injected it with marketing steroids then all of a sudden everybody loves star wars.
@@daniboy4153 im a girl and i too, am afraid to tell some one i like anime and sometimes like to watch k pop music videos because of the aesthetics, without being called a yaoi fangirl or some other shit. As if watching movies and watching anime are different, personally i see no difference. Also being an introvert makes things worse for me because my family keeps telling me i will die alone even tho they should know i like being alone intead of wanting to suck up to what society wants and i cant tell people what they want to hear 😔
@@aquamarineancientsoul7893 Maybe don’t think about what people say and like what you like? I was once ridiculed for liking anime too and it never made me feel any sort of way. I’m also a girl (Actually an adult woman but whatever)
Does she know that Melissa McCarthy gets wiggs character fired, never apologizes, steals the royalties from the book which never told was being published. But worst than that when the mayor tells Melissa to stop the ghostbustng, Melissa tells the ghostbusters that everything is ok and they can continue, which gets them in trouble. She lied to all her friends! How are these role models?
Also they give no real informative information to Leslie Jone's char. Yes, she believes and did see a ghost, but she's basically armed and out there like it's not really a serious thing or really easy and she ends up in that whole backstage concert situation.
I know this is a couple of years late to reply, but I was overdramatic as a teenage boy. It's just more angsty. Both are overemotional. You are 100% right that it is just how teenagers are. But she is so wrapped up in feminism that she can't even see that.
The difference is... The other woman in the video? She seems fake, She acts fake, and She is fake. Like it's an Act for the camera. While you? You seem Real, You Act Real, and You Are Real. Kudos to you and Excellent job on that Ghostbusters video you did as well as this one.
I hate the Transformers franchise way worse than Twilight. Yeah. I said that. WAY WORSE THAN TWILIGHT! Let that sink in. Comparing the Beatles fandom to the One Direction fandom......sigh. The Beatles were talented...and men went frigging insane for them too. One Direction, well, I like one of their songs (Story of My Life had a good country-ish feel to it) but other than that is One Direction is just a fad.
If were talking about the movies sure. On some level I can enjoy twilight ironically. Transformers is just a drain on the soul after awhile, with healthy amounts of eyestrain.
what is it with feminists and hating on the male gays? I knew there were a portion of feminism who were against even gay men but it's practically all RU-vid feminists...
"She's just so far up her own ass, the stomach acids are giving her split ends." Jesus Christ that is one of the funniest insults I've heard in years, I just laughed so hard my sides hurt.
@4:46 Yes, it's true that teen girls are not in control of their emotions or interests and become overly excited or upset. Same is true for teen boys as well. Something called hormones, puberty, and undeveloped brains. 😆
Maybe I'm a little immature, but I laughed a million times more at this video than Ghostbusters 2016. You literally gave her 3rd dagree burn with this video. The meta combacks you gave were amazing and hilarious. It must have taken a while to put them together though, so great job. I think you show Milo what a real strong funny woman looks like. Kutos!
Oh lord... I'm all for women having equal rights, same rate of pay (being a woman), but dear god can people stop with this pandering style videos? It drives me crazy! Keep up the good work JLongbone. Bringing sense to this confusing and stupid world we live in. On a second note, it might not be slow motion, but what about the ENTIRITY of "Kill Bill?" and that fantastic fight scene in the caravan?
Every time I watch another feminist RU-vid vid I am going to return to this video to convince myself that very intelligent and funny women indeed do exist.
The “male gaze” is a part of actual film theory, as men were primarily filmmakers, and therefore created the language of film. The “male gaze” is applicable to men, women, situations, and whatever depicted in film and how a framework pioneered by men may affect these depictions. It is term of theoretical ANALYSIS, and is NEUTRAL on its own, and is not for the social movement of feminism. For example, the term “auterism” is a term of film analysis, which looks at the director as the sole “author” of a film. You don’t have to agree that directors are the main authors of film, but you can still use the term of analysis because it’s a NEUTRAL THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK.
This girl looks, sounds, and acts just like someone I know. She even has the same vacant look in her eyes. I think there is a factory somewhere pumping out stereotypical tumblrista nerd girls.
I fucking hate tumblrinas. They are all about "embracing everything" but if you draw their favorite character with a thinner body or a slightly paler skin or even imply that a movies color palate was dark bc of themes, or qjestion their dumbass headcanon and imply that obesity isnt healty, they'd bully u until u want to quit everything and will cheer if you die. Also they cant tell the difference between fiction and reality and hate on artists and blame theyre own stupidity on your preferences
"That teen girls are not in control of their emotions" Yeah.... every parent of a teenage girl has observed that.... I have 3 teenage girls, none of whom have ANY control of their emotions.
At 3:20, speaking of awesome films with women as incredible fighters, I would highly recommend Nikita by Luc Besson. It's a French film, the subtitled version is better than the dubbed (in this case), and it's just fucking awesome.
I also have quite a few awesome recommendations too, Lady Snowblood: a Japanese film that basically inspired Tarantino to do Kill Bill(seriously there are so many scenes that are similar), Everly: a very interesting home invasion movie that felt similar to freakin Die Hard, and I can name off quite a few others but think of the names though, sorry XP
I could barely make it through _this_ video because of all the clips of Ms. Feminist, there. The refutation, however, made it all worthwhile. It's a dirty job, and I'm glad I didn't have to do it.
10:59: "Sexuality is human." Thank you! Thank you so much! Someone else understands! I've been saying this for years but no else seemed to get it. Not even anti-feminists and MRAs mention this. So thank you so much for saying it!
You.....I have no words. You are epic. There are legitimate social issues and this twerp of a 20s something, focusing on all this vapid first world problem crap, is the very worst of SJW's I love the way you picked her bs apart utterly using legitimate points facts and basically just nuking her vid. I also love your point on sexuality. Yes people can be douchey in how they express it but sexuality in of itself isnt a bad thing...its what you decide to do to express it that determines sane human being from utter asshole. I could go on for a good long while but damn. Just...brava!!!!
I don’t really understand where feminists got this idea of this “Us vs Them” mentality between men and women, like “men create action movies for men and no one else!” As if literally everything men do isn’t a way to impress and ingratiate themselves to a good woman lol
This is 4 years late, but for the people who just happen to come across JLongbone (which, honestly, are super blessed to have discovered this awesome person), don't go to the original video. Y'all will just be giving her money if you do and it's not worth your attention and time. But hey, JLongbone's worth it. Definitely continue watching her.
Yow, her face looks like one of those LOLZ faces people photoshop making the eyes and mouth HUGE, lol...and you made me honestly laugh out loud when you said she spent the morning making her hair more ambiguous, lol...awesome:)
I love how she is claiming she is a feminist while also judging the value of a woman solely by how they are perceived by men. Because looking at hot, confident, and sexy women and saying:" you are a vapid airhead who is to stupid to realize you are just catering to the male gaze" is TOTALLY respecting a woman. Feminism is not "you only have value if you act how I think you should act" it is " everyone has value equally" . Period.
I wish I could like this video twice. I think that all women are feminist to a degree, but all women aren't emotionally immature, misandrist, assholes. There is nothing wrong if you like GB 2016, but a movie, or the marketing campaign surrounding it should never become a political dip stick to judge your character, or your morals or values. Thank you J Longbone, I needed a good laugh.
"If you didn't like Twilight, you just hate women!" No, I hate poor writing, predictable and mediocre characters, and plots that make you roll your eyes so hard they might get stuck looking at your retinal nerves. That's not a woman thing, that's a bad writer thing, and there are plenty of those across the board. I mean hell, have you SEEN the young adult category these days?
"There were SO many things that the women got to do, in this movie, that we normally don't get to see women do!" Oh, u mean like destroying an entire cinematic universe by -shitting- QUEEFING on everything - &everyone - that made the franchise awesome?? YA...SOOO. HILARIOUS. SO. EMPOWERING.
*applause Your highlighting the slow-motion clips of women being all actiony was beautifully done. Her bringing up hysteria is the same trick as the crazy young earth creationist who argues against some fringe evolutionary idea from 150 years ago as if it has any relevance to today's scientific thinking.
10:37 Oh yea bc that doesn’t happen vice versa. “They didn’t come to hear (The Beatles), they came to _see_ (The Beatles).” - Ringo Starr. 14:27 YESSSS!!!!!!
7:41 that is the opposite as far as I've observed throughout elementary and high school. Girls were often stereotyped as reading many books while boys were mocked for supposedly always wasting time playing video games or movies which neither medium gets the inherent respect that books get. "Boy stuff" often is considered vapid and lacking any value while what girls are stereotypically associated with consuming is a mixed bag, chick flicks are considered vapid which I understand because they are soulless rehashes blatantly pandering to a demographic (opposed to action movies where it's primary audience may be male but it isn't intended for that audience only and the genre has a wider variety than chick flicks) , but many books consumed by girls and women are respected on the basis they are books. And when I say chick flicks I'm not referring to all romance or romcom movies, plenty of men can and do enjoy romance in their movies or even romantic centered stories but in the case of a chick flick it does everything in it's power to disinterest men and pander to women and often ends up being poorly written and lacking substance or heart. Chick flicks lack respect because they're bad not because almost exclusively women like them Edit: ya know why lots of boys enjoy classic Disney Princess movies. It's cuz they're well made relatable human stories that happen to also include some good music and wish fulfillment for little girls.
this is the type of female who cries about representation in video games yet ignores the entirety of female protags because they hailed from Japan, Europe, etc
"The primary concern isn't making sure they're pretty..." Except each of them is so caked in makeup you can literally see the sheen from the spotlights off of their noses in each scene. Sure, the contrast is cranked to 300%, but you can clearly see Melissa McCarthy is wearing more eyeliner than a Melissa McCarthy impersonator at a drag show. C'mon now. I was more distracted by their clown makeup than half of the crappy CGI.
Women who has never actually been oppressed and is living her 1st world life rails about women being oppressed. Completely embarrassing to normal women who understand we have never had it so good.
7:51 Labyrinth is a cult phenomenon because of girls. I’m not a fan of the film, but I respect their nostalgic love for it as I’m a Dark Crystal fan. The Princess Bride is probably more loved by women than men, too, but let’s not talk about films that disprove this woman’s BS theory.
This movie is a double edged sword of screwing. It screws men over because the entire point of the film was to call out men for being turned off by this movie, no matter the reason. It screws over females because the entire film is just a shittier version of another property, and it uses women only as a means to stir up controversy and sell the movie. It's a film for nobody except for feminists who clearly don't see this, and people with robust, square jaws. I wasn't even a Ghostbusters fan, but the remake is so manipulative and so cynical that I actually never want to be within a 100ft radius of that franchise.
Female hysteria is totally made up: *Watches videos of women literally crying and fainting watching the Beatles in concert in the 1960’s* Edit: lol shit she brought it up unironically 😂😂😂😂
I gotta say, I was teenager not too many years before this movie came out/review was published, and I never ONCE felt like I was berated for being the way I was or liking the things I liked, and as a teen I was a MASSIVE weeb living in a mostly Christian-Conservative area. When I told all the adults around me how much I loved Japan and anime, they were all like, "oh that's nice honey, would you like a Naruto headband for Christmas?"
She doesn't even get the male gauze. It's when the camera pans along a woman character the way a man attracted to her would look along her. It has nothing to do with the film maker or their race...
I'm a teenage girl and i get excited and upset for no reason. It's this thing called hormones. They make developing girls a little nutty. Plus, when i do get excited, I become the personification of stage four cancer Edit: only just noticed i commented on the same video twice and i feel dumb
