The video you're responding to seems to think that there's only one type of 'alpha' or 'beta'. I'm a huge fan of comedians and stand-up comedy, and those guys have a long deep history of being the alpha of any interview they're taking part in. Hell, makeup-wearing Russell Brand fucking destroyed a news room he was in when he felt they disrespected him. You can be assertive and 'dominant' without getting into fist fights on the street.

They keep harping on alphas being "aggressive," which tells me that everyone who made this video is a beta or they'd understand that there's more to it than that.

The most simple way for her to avoid the argument is “Alright. Might have used that term wrong. Thank you for informing me... but I still more want a more direct, caring, nurturing, safe man. Someone I can both depend on and have a nice conversation with. I am leaving” Done.

My mom told me about this one guy she broke up with. There was nothing wrong with him except that he was too nice. He never challenged her, even when she would be unreasonable and he'd have every right to call her out on it. So she dumped him. Then she met my dad, arguably an alpha, who's a guy who's smart, witty, and kind while not putting up with any bullshit. They've been married for 19 years now and still going very strong.

While I've always been comfortable in my own skin, there was a time (in high school) when I didn't fully understand my own worth in the context of a relationship and didn't know how they worked during the first relationship I had. It took me a while to learn that it was ok to be assertive and also to end a relationship on my own terms if I was being treated in a way I didn't like. At this point in my life, I don't sugar coat things anymore, but I don't act like a douche about it. I don't think of myself as necessarily fitting into one type like Alpha or Beta, I consider myself as just me, and I'm confident in myself and I like who I am. I think that's all that really matters. If you're comfortable in your own skin and you don't compulsively prostrate yourself to people the way this Adam guy probably does, your confidence in who you are shines through. Also, "Actually Adam," here is the kind of guy no one would want to date if I had to guess. To be honest, if I were a woman I wouldn't date him because I hate being around someone who demeans and talks down to me. I have had friendships and even relationships with people like that, and those were short-lived. People like that don't deserve your time, and you're not obligated to be attracted to someone just because they call you jerk if you don't.

That's honestly true, in the early stages of my relationship I nearly broke up with my boyfriend because he constantly agreed with and did everything to not get me "upset". Humans actually are the same things as animals. We _are_ animals. Not only that, but we _are_ apes. And our behaviour is very comparable to that of other social animals, chimps in particular (which _are_ still our closest relative - chimps and bonobos are so close to each other genetically that they are tied for being our closest relative). And what we see in chimps is actually what Adam touches on (but manages to draw the opposite conclusion): chicks like masculine males, but that doesn't mean less masculine males can't also get lucky. They need to compensate their inferior masculinity with other things, like being smarter, more caring, generous etc. In humans this is more pronounced as we have more ways of being successful than through sheer physical prowess, as opposed to other mammals where survival is more dependent on physical fitness. But our attraction to physical attributes has by no means disappeared.
