Thank you this was sooo helpful! I get a lot of my plants from Home Depot too and always thought the crazy overgrown roots meant it needed a bigger pot. Happy to know how to manage them better now.
I had a client today that is graduating high school and she told me they added a new class called plant science. Thought that was interesting. Wish I had that class in school lol #loveit
That is so freaken awesome. I think its a great idea. Indoor air can be so toxic for you and the idea that plants are becoming more popular is a great way to clean the air but also a fun hobby that teaches responsibility. Lyla is responsible for 4 mini plants and if it were up to her she'd drown them daily with Love and water lol.. But I think its great for her!
Plant science is called botany or horticulture isn't it? .. it's always good to know how to grow something, edible plants or not. ... I wish we had learned botany in school too. ... Marsha.
I couldn’t believe you just dumped all that soil on to your floor without something to catch the dirt. I couldn’t help but think of the clean up you will have. I always open up a brown paper bag from the grocery store when I repot my plants. Or I use a drop cloth. Just makes it easy to clean up. I know it’s just dirt. But that wasn’t just a little dirt though. You didn’t seem to mind it though and that’s great❣️😌👍🏼 I just couldn’t... Love your Fiddle❗️
Stop judging people; that's why they make brooms and dust pans, wet-to-dry vacuum cleaners, soap and water. We all have our takes on how we'd like to execute any activity. I like her technique, which is similar to mine: unpretentious, quick, natural, and straightforward.
I bought fiddle fig plant today let’s see how it works I really like n laughed when you said you need to live more to water your plant 😀😀😀😀 Love the way you kept snake plant in your stairs n the statue of Buddha very clam style
Nice one) As I was exploring about Ficuses (have figgie, audrie and rubber one) that long crunchy roots is for breathing or something (as was in natural forest when they were trees), and it doesn't need to be dig in soil, so I didn't do anything. Although I thought that repotting need to be done in bigger pot and thank you for some new information to process)
Ohh my goodness. I finally found someone as crazy 😜 as I am with my plants 🌱. I have to absolutely! Do what you are doing. Plant 🌱 to pot. Have to go together! 🤗🌱🤗. So do I. Floor is best. Easier to work with and set pot to plant 🌱 in front of us 😁. Ask my husband! 😁. So cool 😎 I found you. I have sun ☀️ fun room for all my babies. Thank you. Subscribed!! IM GOING TO LIVE LONGER!! Who needs family?! Lol. When we have our children 👶
My mother taught me that you can cut (or saw with a small garden saw) vertically 4 areas on the sides (I cut top to bottom of the rootball, not just a small vertical cut) of a very tight/compacted root ball, but don’t penetrate too deep, though. Do this only if the roots are really compacted hard and they can’t be separated from the dirt. Then plant the plant into a larger pot. The 4 (or less) slices into the tight rootball will allow the roots to be free of the tight compaction and then they will grow into the new soil.
Omg I just found you off of one of the recommendation videos from watching @planteria and Awh I love you already! Lol 😂 @5:25 oh damn that was funny 😁 “were just taking this to a depressive state!” 😂😂😂😂
💖this video! home depot + lowes gives out free all sizes, some even really nice, those black plastic planters- their at garden dept door on tall racks.
My sister just got crazy about plants and her first are the fiddle fig and the rubber plant. I'm going to tell her to get to your RU-vid to learn how to take care of them. Thank you for this video.
Mmm, you might want to have your sister watch Planterina on RU-vid. I like the girl in this video, but some of the advice was not correct. Perhaps have your sister watch both.
Hello Miss, from Canada. I'll try and make a long story short. I am a retired tradesman who has never been responsible for a plant in my life. (My wife always did that) Anyhow, I noticed that my 5.1 stereo sounded so much better with my little Christmas tree set next to my bass speaker ( I suspect it splatters the sound somewhat instead of being directional) , and the 5,1 surround sound became pathetic off Season. So, for the first time in my life, I decided to get the bushiest plant I could find for off Season to replace that Christmas tree effect. Turns out, I worked! and I now feel like a new-born Father again to boot! I bought an umbrella tree from Home Depot that was in absolutely awful condition and also planted in way too small a pot. I cleaned all his leaves and I named him Erickson, myself being of Nordic background, and as a tribute to the explorer Leaf Erickson... get it?. (Sorry, I said I'd keep it short) My issue is; could I re-pot 'Erickson' in a painted metal pot? Would there be problems with the paint? or the steel? I could easily put any size or location of holes in the pot. Thank you for your wonderful videos. From Canada, we all wish you the best outcome from your difficulties you now face. (I am assuming this video is coming from the USA)
You have some big and healthy plants.good repotting.I got one fiddle leaf tree two years ego just like your one.today I repotted it and put another plant together to looks fuller.old one leaves keep falling because in winter my house is very dry.thanks for sharing.new subscriber.
Plants breathe from the bottom of their leaves. top part is waxy and waterproof to let rainwater run off it. But yeah I question whether rubbing oil on leaves is necessary in the first place.
Thank you for making this video. My fig plant is dying and I am learning how to love it. I am about to re-pot and bring it back to life! putting on my superhero cap on now.
My fig completely died on me! it was shedding leaves like crazy until I had three left, all in random places. I asked my local nursery lady and she said to added some fertilizer, that comes in little beads around the pot. Not too close because it can burn the plant. I also cut off all the leaves and I promise you, 2 weeks later I had a new leaf! Don't be scared to chop the leaves off for a fresh start. I wish I'd done it sooner. Good luck!
Hi I'm new and just coming across this video! I'm a plant mom of 3 and I've only had them for a year but I'm excited to grow them and learn more so they can thrive! Also, I think a good name would be "The Plant Posse" if you haven't already come up with one haha!
Just starting my love affair with indoor plants, I know understand my grandmother and mother.... plants bring such good energy to the home. Thank you 😊
Excelent video .I love ficus lyrata . She knows every thing about houseplant more than awoman must know. every thing is very very nice and okey.your husband is lucky.
I'm sure if your daughter joins you in your youtube endeavor and make it a Mom and Daughter channel planting flowers and plants you'll double your views and subs...wishing you guys the best!
Hi! I’m new to your channel:) I was just wondering why you repotted your rubber leaf plant. I’ve always heard it’s best to leave your plants in its nursery pot for as long as possible just because the travel from the nursery to the store and then from the store home can be a lot of stress for the plant.
Trader Joe's has tall "flower" buckets for free everyday!Just ask the flower person to save them instead of throwing them away. They are the same size as the pot you used for the rubber plant in this video. They don't have drainage but you can easily drill holes in the bottom of them!
Hello friend thanks for sharing your very informative video beautiful Plants and pots I just subscribe watching from California stay connected and safe
#loveit. I tried pruning my fig a few weeks ago like you had mentioned and still no growth. Now I will try to repot it. Thanks for all your hard work and content.
I definitely think you should re-pot if it has not been fertilized. If Possible When you do re-pot it try to hose down the leaves and make sure there are no pests lingering. Its easiest to do once its not in the pot that is why I suggest it.
most issues with figs is light....it needs light from all round ...white walls help bounce the light, it must be indirect light but it needs alot of it. 8 hours a day of light indirect. Also warm tempature looks like she has the perfect amount of tons of light as you can see her fig is thriving .....but Figs are finicky .......
I’m obsessed with all your plants. I have such bad luck with them. They always turn yellow on me. I even killed a 🌵 like who does that 😆. Maybe I watered a tad bit too much idk 🙂
thanks for the great info video. I have a fig plant that need to be repotted, but also it just like to grow tall & not too many leaves.. how do I make it shorter? or stop growing any taller & get more leaves grow from the middle? or is it already too late?
I like using the plastic pots also! Can’t seem to find them for purchase anywhere except at a plant nursery - they’ve given it to me for free! But I do wish I could just pop into a shop and buy one that I need
Hey there! Thanks so much for the great content. I recently repotted my fiddle fig leaf plant. My question is.. how do I know if my pot is too small for my fig leaf? The first pot was very big and it looked as though my plant was drowning in it. The one it currently sits in appears to be a comfortable size for it.. but I don’t want it to feel confined. If you, or anyone in the comments section, has any advise for me, it would be very much appreciated! I love my plants and want them to thrive!! ❤️
You r so beautiful and your partner too love you body I’m doing this for three months and I love it and seeing all your plants on your stairs it make me wanna keep going
I put a bit of coconut oil on the leaves just as she showed and now veins are turning brown. Yes it makes them look extra polished but I would not recommend. Thanks a lot sis, got dying fig
I just got a ficus lyrata from Home Depot. The soil has that dusty white looking mold on the top. And a few of the leaves have Endema. Probably because it was sitting in a ton of water. I’m just wondering if I should repot it?
I need help lol i bought a Chinese evergreen the grayish silver one and its in a pot that is 6 inches but I bought another decorative pot that is 9 inch can i leave it in the 6 in pot still or should i put it in a 9 in plastic pot and still put that one in the decorative one
Thank you for mentioning living longer. I'm 68 and live alone. My plants indoor & outside are my babies. Coming to you from so.cali. Do you water after repotting? anyone know?...xo
