Never mind that women teams outperform mens teams in multiple areas. So inane.

Saying things like “trans women are just men who wanted to compete against women to win sports” is not only transphobic towards trans women, but also extremely belittling towards cis women since it implies that any man could just walk in and beat professional athletes who happen to be women.
It’s also not even accurate. HRT for trans women reduces muscle mass. It turned me so squishy I’m sure any cis woman could wipe the floor with me in any sport (hell, I’m sure that was even true before I came out).

Republicans don't actually care about the kids. They accuse the LGBTQ+ group of being predators, WITH NO EVIDENCE, and they keep saying we have to "protect the kids" but Republicans are working: to deny school lunches, to cut benefits for lower income families so it is harder to feed their kids, to allow children to be mass murdered by guns, to allow children to be preyed upon by actual predators by distracting from who those predators are (notice their silence about the long history of child rape notated in the Catholic Church), to increase harmful mental health in children by telling kids to not be themselves and by saying they don't matter unless they are the way Republicans say they can be, to deny sex education (and ban birth control) which puts kids at more risk for disease, to support candidates with accusations/history of sexual impropriety towards kids, and so much more... Ask a Republican why diversity terrifies them so much. The party of toxic masculinity is terrified of others and has to try to keep them down/deny EQUAL opportunities and rights...that is a cowardly move, no matter how you cut it. It drives me nuts that people will say that young girls are trying to be turned trans because they're tomboy, and we need to keep our young girls safe. I grew up with a trans person in my life, and my mom taught me about trans people (in a positive way, she was very pro LGBTQ) at a very young age. I was also very much a tomboy, hated dresses, played in the mud, didn't like makeup, etc... It was because I knew about trans people at that young age that made me comfortable in my own gender as I got older (I'm cis and now pretty darn fem). Having the vocabulary and knowledge gave me the tools to have that conversation with myself as I was getting older and struggling with my identity. I was able to give myself the headspace to figure myself out much sooner and saved me a lot of pain.
My daughter was raised with older brothers and from a very young age wanted to be just like them. Now in her 20's, she has become somewhat terf-ish, and even said she was glad she grew up when she did, being afraid I might have forced her to transition if she was growing up now. It was very hurtful, my philosophy was and still is to treat children as gender neutral, just let a child be a child, without pressure or expectations. I had to remind her that she also had a few favourite dresses, had a complete meltdown when she had to have her hair cut short after getting chewing gum stuck in it, and although she may have behaved ''like a boy'' in some ways, she never once told me she believed she *was* a boy.

Yes, they know exactly how to work the algorithm. And the thing is, it's not just about promoting their stuff, it's also deliberate bullying. Imagine being a young LGBTQIA person living in an unsupportive environment, being harassed in school and unable to talk about it to your family. You watch channels like Jamie and OT to try to feel an ounce of support and belonging, but before you can watch the video you're forced to sit through another ad telling you yet again what a terrible person you are just for existing. These advertisers are really evil, not just for their opinions, but for forcing those opinions on the most vulnerable people.
I've almost seen something similar with consuming atheist videos or videos that go over dangerous religious sects, and having to sit through ads for the Mormon church (or "Jesus christ of latter day saints") or ads basically saying "CONVERT"
Imagine if the Internet existed in the 50’s and black people were looking for videos deconstructing the segregation laws, only to get ads from white supremacists going “YOU ARE NOT HUMAN” over and over. That’s basically what’s going on here. These people are cold and sadistic.
I block ads for this reason alone. I struggle with my mental health and I got so many anti-trans ads, I almost quit youtube as a whole to avoid them. Someone introduced me to a blocker that works and I've felt a bit better since. I also actively click "Don't show me this channel" whenever anti-trans content shows up in my reccs. Ignoring it won't stop it from coming back, and neither will "Not interested".

Even though it's been significantly more of an economic issue rather than an equality issue that causes all of these problems, this false sense of bigotry has inadvertently created a self fulfilling prophecy, and caused harm against the LGBTQ as a result. The mainstream news media has been creating these false narratives for more than a couple of decades and continues to use peoples misunderstandings against each other. And from that, they reignite the bigotry.

Doesn't SHE have that same advantage"? Height is not an exclusionary factor. "So what about a 5'5" trans-woman competing?@ I asked. "She hadn't got that advantage". That stumped him. Sure, height is an advantage in some sports. I was a fencer. I'm 5'1" and couldn't compete against 5'11" women with longer reach and stride. Should tall women be excluded? Where do you draw that line? The swimmer's advantage was not different from that of Michael Phelps. He's got a weird shaped body that allows him to swim faster. That first one, “stay the f away from our kids”… excuse me sir, but this is a beer advert. Mate, if you’re worried about your kids getting Down With the Wokeness because of Bud Light, maybe your kids shouldn’t be drinking beer.
Someone also made a really good point that a lot of people who think kids being trans is indoctrination is because they can't understand that children have their own personalities and thoughts. All of their children believe what they do because they were told to believe these things. Mom says to be Christian, so the child is. Mom says to be polite, so the child is. Mom says to be or have a housewife, so the child will. It genuinely doesn't even cross their mind that someone said "hey, trans people exist" and their child said "I think I am one" completely of their own accord because they don't let their child even have an own accord. Thus, it must be people pushing their children to be trans, because they push their children to be everything else.

They never get to speak up on how they feel, they never have any effect on laws that have a negative sway over them, nothing. Like the child labor law. The reason why "children are oppressed" is often a talking point for predators is because it's true. People don't respect their kids, and predators take advantage of that. They'll listen to kids and hear their stories. "Oh, that was very mature of you" or "Yeah, your parents were in the wrong for doing that to you." Predators often listen to and respect kids at first in order to groom them. Don't give predators that kind of weapon. Don't make respect for your kids rare enough to the point that they'd be willing to trust a predator over you.
I think we should just get rid of the gender system as a whole, just purely base it on hormones levels if it’s that important since some people will naturally have higher or lower hormones levels than other people of their gender that will give them an advantage/disadvantage (kind of how sports work tbh, you’re not allowed to take drugs to be better at it, it’s just your body). Council of Geeks recently made a video on it. I wish more creators would put in the effort though, even if it does take more effort. Saying they're wasting their money is just a way to comfort ourselves but in reality they're not trying to convert people they're trying to convince people on the fence about the subject and so they think by putting it on queer vids they're helping "combat queerness" that way. it also has an effect on the mental health of the queer people who watch these vids and makes us feel worse, which is also what they want.
@@normalhuman9878 It's a bot. It never says anything other than the one lame comment. Replying to it is useless. I just report it for hate speech and move on.
Like I know that strong trans women exist, but earlier today I spent a whole five minutes trying to open a jar of pickles until I decided I just wouldn't have pickles
did you try slipping something thin in the little crevice in between the lid and the neck of the jar and twisting it? once you get air in it's immesurably easier to open. pickles are too good to pass on (sincerely, a weak-af woman)
Also helps to run a metal lid under hot water, because it causes the metal to expand slightly, loosening it. And if you have any rubber wristbands, putting one on the lid and one on the jar really improves your grip so you can actually use your full strength - someone with stubborn jars of salsa
If it's the type of jar with a thin, metal lid (kinda bubbly in the middle, where you can push in the middle and make it 'pop' in and out), interlock your fingers and squeeze either end of the lid with your palms. Works every single time, for any container with that type of lid. Absolutely fucking perplexes everyone I've ever done it in front of.
i've allways found it "funny" that is always just "no trans women in womens sports!" you never hear anybody complaining about trans men in mens sports, interesting right? it's like they don't care about that because "oh they don't have an advantage" or it's just plain old sexiscm (it's probably a mixture of both actually, who we kidding?)
A lot of transphobic arguments are deeply sexist. They’re literally saying people inherently always act, think and look certain ways, purely based on their assigned gender at birth and on nothing else.
You're right, it's because transphobic people see trans men as women and trans women as men, so they apply their own sexist beliefs about women onto trans men. Y'know, inherently weaker, in need of protection. Completely ignoring that testosterone can make you quite strong, especially if you train for it.
I'm pretty certain that the people behind that beer don't care one way or the other about trans rights. They just saw the discontent over Bud Light and smelled money. The beer is probably some standard off-brand that some generic company makes that they just rebranded as their own. I'm not defending them, I'm commenting on how sad and amoral and money grubbing the world is.
8:29 Seeing as this is in America, where bigots of all persuasions are all too keen to assert their first amendment rights of free speech to excuse their expression of bigotry, this ad is blatant hypocrisy.
As a kid (13), I was denied being part of my local kids soccer team because I was too tall (at least that was the excuse given to my mother) I wasn't just denied playing with my age group but the whole underage soccer league. I had to play with the women's team, wasn't fair for them having to play with a kid and it certainly wasn't fair for me. Hell it was dangerous, the women's teams played rough. I see forcing trans women to play with men or not play at all in the same light.
Separating men and women in sports is a silly idea to begin with. I'm pretty sure the reason why we do it is because women used to be forbidden from doing sports until they got their own category. But the natural next step would be to stop separating men and women. The only useful categories are like weigh and sizes and every thing that actually matters in sports. Not sex and gender. We dont have to be in separated categories at school and there isn't much difference in men and women...
It used to be in a way since it was about being aware of racial discrimination, I think it became broader later on to include other prejudices and then the far-right made it a dog whistle :/
@@MazdaFan-wt6sl”inclusive” lol bigot. Nah trans is how you fit in an idea. Gender is an idea. You aren’t being inclusive. Your changing what things mean. “Hurr to include more poorly” if I added str8 you’d have a problem.
My grandfather is one of those MAGA guys who keeps saying "Oh, but I'm only concerned about the safety of the children!" Bold words for a man who made a p3d0phillia joke about me when he was called up 33 years ago on the day I was born. 😬
Decades ago, on The Phil Donohue Show, they actually had a show about being gay and whether it was a choice or not. You know, 40 years ago. One guy said "I am black and I am gay. I can't change either, and I shouldn't be told to." Oooh the audience really didn't like that. I'm sure some supported it, but the loud ones were very angry over what he said.
You weren't born being able to walk. Walking is a behavior. Not a civil right. The argument falls apart if you just take the smallest amount of time to think about what they're even saying.
By this logic you weren't born being able to breath either were you? Or think? Gay people are born gay, end of story. There is no scientifical proof against this. Is you say you found any, you're lying. I looked it up myself
That beer is only available in 42 states... while being an online order only. That means there are 8 states that looked at that anti-woke beer and said "nope, don't ship that crap here." and good for those 8 states.
Eating disorders come from external factors. If they learn that there's something wrong with their weight and that people who are skinny are better and happier, that comes from insecurity. Being trans comes from inside, that's the fundamental sense of self. The only benefits of being trans is being happy and not feeling like you're stuck inside yourself. It's hard being trans, you lose friends and family over it, it's expensive, you have to constantly justify your existence to people that you're worthy of being yourself. It's just not a good comparison.
@@martind2520 There are lots of studies that try to pinpoint a cause to being trans, including biological factors, but none of them have been totally confirmed, just a lot of theories. To me it seems like it's just a way people are sometimes. I know several transgender people who grew up in households where being transgender would not have been accepted. People who lived in rural areas, not in a liberal/progressive environment and they were still trans. Those people certainly were not convinced and "showed benefits" of being trans. I can also tell you of plenty of people who grew up in progressive environments and don't turn out trans.
@@normal_biscuit Yes, most trans people come from families, or cultural area, with very strict gender roles. It is hardly a shock that a girl that liked football and videogames, from a family with strict gender roles, would end up believing that she was "really a boy inside" to explain why she didn't like Barbies and ponies like she was "meant to".
yeah, Jamie is so right about anti-LGBTQ+/anti-trans voices being uplifted, I often get ads (sometimes on Jamie or OT's vids) of some anti-trans "gender identity exploration" documentary but straight off the bat, the ad says that transness is a social contagion and detransitioners were interviewed as a way to further anti-trans talking points
“Stay away from our children.” Do you typically get drunk around your children? Do you let your children drink beer? What is beer doing around your kids?!!?
The idea that a mediocre man can outperform an elite woman in any sport is so misogynistic. Even though two cis women just beat one of Michael Phelps' swimming records. I just 🙄🙄🙄.
They get this idea because cisgender men typically are better than cisgender women in most sports due to male puberty producing bodies that don't have to foster a child.
I really liked the storyline in Grey’s Anatomy with Owen Hunt’s sun Leo when they talked to the counsellor after Leo expressed he was a girl. The counsellor didn’t talk about socially transitioning yet (Leo was only 4ish) but she said to just let the child express themselves how they wanted to
The beer ad was right at the start of the bud light thing, and the theory at the time was that they were rebadging a beer from a small brewery (happens a lot) and based on the state they were based out of, the breweries they were likely to have gone to were owned by the same parent company as Bud Light
I fully concur... The naysayers have to move beyond this pathetic argument of "testosterone beats oestrogen"... It's a garbage argument, there are so many week and weedy men who would get their butt kicked in women's sport, even if they trained really hard to compete and there are plenty of trans men who could give any biological male a real run for their sweat in physical combat. There is a far more scientific approach than is currently used to sort fair play in professional sports
Anytime someone insists being gay is a behavior, just point out to them they’re essentially saying that the only difference between them and someone who has gay sex every day is that they’re choosing not to.
I was talking about how I wanted to show my baby cousin some more "girly" shows like my little pony, her response was, "you will not make him gay." For contexts my cousin is not even a year old and we were looking for colorful shows with songs in them so I suggested my little pony. P.S. Sorry this is kinda long😅
This reminded me of a trailer that I saw for a documentary (idk if thats what you call it) about detransitioners and painting it as a story about how the gays preyed on impressionable children and forced them to transition. As a transgender and non-binary teen, I strongly disagree with this message.
As a trans person who's been actively fighting against my conservative parents in order to transition, I agree. I just spent the last year and a half actively fighting for top surgery. No one forced me into doing this. If I didn't want it, why would I be willing to go through all that shit?
Anti-trans people acts like if trans activism would be ( at least only) about promoving kids to hormonizing and surgering. No, trans activism don't do that; trans activism speech only two things: "Love yourself, you are valid and perfect" and "please stop killing us"
also the idea that a man who's mediocre could beat women who are professionals is literally so misogynistic. A MAN WHO'S MEDIOCRE COULD NOT BEAT THEM omg
Wasn't there a whole rash of video's/shorts/TikToks of people smashing Bud Light cans and bottles to protest? ...cans and bottles they'd had to buy first...?
Yup, that was after it was revealed that they hired a trans woman to advertise to a wider market. Then Right-Wingers caught wind and started protesting, even getting pseudo celebrity Kid Rock in on it. It was just a sad little shit show that ended up hurting them because Anheiser-Busch donate proceeds to the Right-Wing political side.
That's actually why I didn't get why AB didn't stick to thier guns with Dylan Mulvaney. They should have just stuck behind her. They were selling waaaayy more beer by invoking the right to fire guns and blow up thier beer then they ever sold when it was just a diet beer to drown that horrible day you have to spend with your family ( that's kinda how I view beer lol). Hate can drive a lot of profit. That's why cancel culture really isn't real.
"Woke" NEVER meant "performative activism", unless you were a White, Birkenstocks-with socks wearing, latte-sipping Yuppie who though he was "with it". "Woke" originated with the Black community & referred to the racism inherent in our institutions like politics, police, employment, housing, the courts, banking, medical care & so on.
I grew up in a homophobic and transphobic household, and their favorite beer is budlight (buying a 30 cam case at least once a week). When I heard about budlight sponsoring a trans person, It feels like their finally getting what they deserve while giving trans people the voice they deserve. It gives me joy on multiple levels.

@juniorqindes8335 it goes beyond not having the same ideas, but about how the people who raised me were actively hateful towards me for existing . Its really insulting and belittling to these women athletes that work so hard and train every day to suggest that a middling man athlete (or any man for that matter, as is often portrayed) could automatically outperform them by a large margin by feigning a transition. The physical capability gap between men and women isn't THAT drastic. Trans or cis, these women work really hard to be as competitive as they are and they deserve to be respected for that!
@@WillieManga My apologies. Let me be perfectly clear what my opinion is. Trans women are women and should compete with cis women. They don't have an inherent advantage from having been AMAB. I am merely pointing out that the narrative from transphobes being that any male middling, failed, and non athlete can easily and immediately dominate the competition by simply competing against women is insulting to said women. It is incredibly harmful to trans women, but it's also another example of a "protect the women" narrative not being about protecting women and actually being about hating trans women because it hurts cis women as well.
I am not trans phobe, but I do understand the confusion, because in a transition there is change, and it can be hard for an outsider to see when the change is enough to switch which bathroom they use. Personally, I have always preferred the idea of single room omnisex bathrooms, though I do understand why that can't be a thing in larger establishments.
They say trans people don’t know what bathroom to use when we do, what we are debating is “how likely is it that I will be hatecrimed for using the correct bathroom vs should I just hold it for the next 6 hours till I get home”

The thing about the whole sexuality is a choice argument is that even if it were a choice, Who cares? Do what makes you happy. Also if it were a choice and no one was born with a particular sexuality, and people can swing whatever way they want, that means everyone alive is bi.
Not to hijack your point, but I actually have a theory that most people are actually bi, like seeing straight guys be attracted to feminine men or some straight women being attracted to tomboys (I think that's a thing, idk, not a woman tbh) (and I have seen some similar things in reverse for homosexuals). I just think everyone has types
