One of my first jobs back in high school was at a carwash. We detailed the interiors of cars and then drove them up to the tunnel where they'd be washed and waxed, then dried off. I had seen the Final Destination series the night before work. The next day, one car I drove to the tunnel was this really crappy Gremlin. We're not supposed to be in the car when it goes into the tunnel, but the car door was stuck. Then I saw the sticker on the car in front of me going into the tunnel reading: LIFE'S A BITCH AND THEN YOU DIE. ... I practically broke my shoulder slamming the car door open.

4 is pretty much agreed on as the weak link. You can find opinions either way for 3 and 5. I think overall the series was consistent in quality. One of the most creative horror movies maybe of all time. Normally the antagonistic force in horror films has a physical shape and presence. The fact that in this movie it's just death itself and there's no physical form or tangible way to interact with it whatsoever, that's it's just purely an unstoppable force that you can not escape, makes it arguably the most terrifying type of horror villain there is. Also I love the Tony Todd cameo haha.

I've always thought that the reason all the kills in the "Final Destination" film series are so gruesome is because Death has to make sure the intended victim doesn't have a way to survive along with no chance of the intended target being revived. All the traps tend to be foolproof with the victim having no possible avenue of escape. The one chance of survival only comes when someone acts as an outside force, and intervenes on behalf of the target. "Final Destination 2" is a great continuation of this movie's story. "Final Destination 3" acts as a good, solid, standalone story. The fourth film in the series, "The Final Destination" is the only time they ever drop the ball, but it's still worth a look. "Final Destination 5", the last film in the series, does a good job of redeeming the franchise from the previous movie. It has an awesome, opening, credits sequence that serves as a call back to the previous entries as well as bringing a fitting end to the everything.
@22Tesla
@22Tesla 2 года назад
Hmmm a good theory on why Death is so CRUEL to the victims in how they die so violently. I had my own theory that Death gives them a violent death because they escaped a violent death the first time. Like you're slated for "brutal death" so you're gonna GET a brutal death no matter what. FD4 is a mess, and FD5 does an alright job at fixing it. Now to wait for FD6, which has been in the works a while.

It's one of the most entertaining horror series of all time. The first one was a true surprise and, though they are not all equal (they do round it out in a nice way by 5) they are great at creating paranoia and usually subverting how you expect people to die. Also, I love how death is the antagonist and feel it kind of likes being challenged here and there; so, without ever really seeing death, it kind of is a fairly well developed monster. Some people theorize that the coroner, William Bludworth (yes, that's his last name) is Charon. Charon is the ferryman of the river Styx, which flows into the underworld. I don't remember if they ever fully explain this in the Final Destination series, but Alex is part of a handful of people in the world that are clairvoyant, meaning they have an innate, supernatural ability to sense and have visions of the future. Alex is acting that way before the trip because he can feel and have small visions of what eventually happens on the plane. He starts seeing it throughout the start of the trip, with small visions here and there like the random feelings he gets at things one would normal never even feel paranoid about, the 180 number, the 666, or hearing the song play in the bathroom, but it turns into a full blown vision during the nap he takes on the plane. These clairvoyant individuals have no ties to Death, which appears to be an opposing force to the visions these people have. In fact, Death has proven to be cheated multiple times due to these visions, but it always seems to find a way to recover those missed opportunities. In this series, Death appears to be a sentient being that actively seeks out to take victims who's time has come.

Do you imagine being in Alex Browning's shoes, realizing that your own birthday is the same as your flight departure time? A metaphor of an apparent and common grim fate for almost every person, heightening their fear and paranoia of what's to come.

Every time when I get on a plan my mind does suddenly start thinking about this film. But that isn't nearly as bad as the logging truck.

I remember seeing the ad for this DVD in a magazine back in high school. One of my projects was to choose a random ad and talk about what was good about it bad and so on. I had chosen the ad for this movie DVD because I had never heard of the movie before and the cover looked interesting. Naturally I had to go rent the DVD and see what it was about and I was very happy that I did. One of the better film franchises out there that doesn't feature a physical killer

another, more recent movie with a non-physical evil is The Night House (2020)

Final destination really inspires you to be more careful improperly maintain stuff so death doesn't get the last laugh and still find it hard to believe this was actually meant to be just another X-Files episode and Tony Todd's character is actually death himself.

This horror series really made me paranoid about everything when I first seen the third movie and then the other ones when I was younger. Really made me scared of a lot of things back then.

I had a theory about these movies, my theory is that maybe the character who received a premonition about their upcoming death, like in the plane scene, is that maybe they weren’t meant to die in that way, and for those you were meant die in that way but survived and escaped their fate, and death is trying to restore the natural and diligent balance of life… and death

The storyline of French class students dying in a fiery plane crash is based on the real event of TWA flight 800 that exploded off the coast of Long Island, NY in 1996. An entire class of students from Pennsylvania were aboard on their way to Paris.

A buddy and I saw this in theaters when it first came out, and we were solidly shook the whole drive home. The theater lent this a whole new level of creepiness. Was honestly disturbing. Don't bother with any of the sequels. But you should definitely check out Legend for your 80's movies!

YES! I love these movies ☺️💖✨ I always watched them in October when I was little PS: In some religions and cultures, it's said that water is a symbol of death; especially sea water. That is why there are deaths in which water plays an important role and even seems to have a life of its own 😉
