yes, the official start of vocal byul! its so strange seeing people not freak out at her first singing line, cause they are so used to it now! she's come so far 😭
Paint Me is an itro for the 4 Season 4 color project, each member with one season one color and one solo song in each mini album BTW, I'm a big moomoo, really anticipate for your other reaction about MMM. Also can't wait for MMM new song 'Dingga'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
U should click on the English subs. Yes I Am has such an inspiring lyrics. Bout bein confidence and doin wut u do best without worryin bout others. A lot of their songs are bout self-empowerment. Also crack ones. There's no in between XD. Really lookin forward to more reactions from u.
Paint Me is an underrated masterpiece. People don't even react to this and other older Mamamoo songs and it is sad. While I love the "new Mamamoo" there's so many other good songs people don't even check out so I love how you always go back back to watch their mvs
Paint Me was the song starter for their 4 Seasons 4 Colors (4S4C) project. As you can see on the lyrics, they kept on mentioning colors, and it's basically "their" respective colors: yellow (Hwasa), red (Byul), blue (Solar), white (Wheein). You may want to listen to a live version of Paint Me during their 4S4C project. It's waaaaay different than this. This was really focused on being mellow while their live versions are more powerful. Can't wait for future reactions. Thanks for always creating content. 😊
I wish you could've read the lyrics for Yes I am! It's their first "self-love" anthem and what really placed them as a girl crush group full of confident women. Basically the baby of "Hip" hahaha, love your videos btw
hip is more bashing the haters "let me wear what i want" yes i am is slightly about neitzens bothering and what they wear (mostly byul and hwasa sang about that) but about all around journy to self confidence too rather than just talkimg about hatrrs they talk about themselves msotly
Paint Me is the intro of the 4 season 4 color project. Each album represent each member. Yellow Flower= Hwasa (Starry Night) Red Moon= Moonbyul (Egotistic) Blue;S= Solar (Wind Flower) White Wind= Wheein (Gogobebe)
Also, lol your face at “lol an espresso”, the one clunky line in an otherwise beautiful set of lyrics (and uncharacteristically nuanced for kpop/pop). I don’t usually enjoy ballads, but Paint Me is one of my favourite Mamamoo songs. I hope it grows on you.
Paint Me lyrics tells about the 'colors' being in a relationship. White- blank (pre-relationship) Yellow- exciting Red- passionate Blue- sadness/being blue Black- over the course of the relationship, the color mixes and became darker and darker.
OMG THAT INTROOOO- Yes I am's lyrics are really good, and are really empowering!! Also, Paint Me was really the song that showcased Moonbyul's vocals for the first time (for me)~
Cute cat 😻. Yes I Am has very empowering lyrics. Paint Me is seen as the song that kicked off the 4 seasons 4 colors project. 4 mini albums that were released, each member's color matching the one in Paint Me. Each album had its own title track and a solo for the corresponding member. 1. Yellow Flower, Title Track: Starry Night, Solo: Be Calm (Hwasa) 2. Red Moon, Title Track: Egotistic, Solo: Selfish (Moonbyul ft. Seulgi) 3. Blue;s, Title Track: Wind Flower, Solo: Hello (Solar) 4. White Wind, Title Track: Gogobebe, Solo: 25 (Wheein)
Next will be Star Wind Flower Sun(kinda their respective logo, or nickname, Moon STAR, Wheein(sound like WIND), Hwasa(mean FLOWER in korea if im not mistaken) & solar, source of solar is SUN or her real name, YongSUN. Then, Starry Night, then Everyday(Maeil Bio) its a CF like Wannabe Myself, then Sky Sky(again CF for mobile game, its cringe af, you know once you see it), Egotistic, Wind Flower, & Gleam. I believe you already react to the final song in their 4season 4 color project which is Gogobebe(White Wind mini album, Wheein/Wind/White theme album) right. So the other 3 are Starry Night(Yellow Flower, Hwasa/Flower/Yellow theme album), Egotistic(Red Moon/Moonbyul/Red theme album), & Wind Flower(Blue;s/Solar/Blue theme album. These are the rest of MMM MV that i think you still not react. For solo stuff, theres more. Particularly, Wheein - Easy, Moonbyul - Selfish, Moonbyul - In My Room, Moonbyul - Absence performance video, Moonbyul - Iljido performance video, Hwasa - Be Calm. She also had 1 more song, original song from her endorsement/CF for LG gaming monitor which title Be Alright. Its all there in their channel. Solar is the last member making solo debut, that why her solo stuff is quite limited atm.
hwa means flower (like cls song) lookit my pfp on insta i saw song cover and artsy name and i thought it said full hwasa but it had flower so i realized it was jsut hwa and not a legndary collab
Basically Yes I Am is one of the MMM song that attracted me more to them because of the lyrics. We should be more confident about ourselves and always prioritize what makes us happy. Not by following what others said bout us. MMM songs really boost my confidence level and love myself💕
The problem is Mamamoo live perfomances is always better than studio. Sometimes I'm surprised how they sound so good even I knew they are that good. The funny thing is sometimes there is live performance video that sound so clean and good that make me wonder is this Lip Sync or Live.
Honestly this reaction is the first time I've truly read the lyrics of Paint Me, and holy crap it's beautiful. Especially realising the connection between each of their colours in the 4seasons album/project, the symbolism is just incredible.
I'm enjoying your reactions to the MVs, but if you want to be a completist you should also cover the pre-debut MVs Don't be Happy and Peppermint Chocolate, the MVs for Girl Crush and Memory, and the live MVs for I love you too, Angel and DabDab. I'd also recommend the live performance of Words Don't Come Easy.
"I don't know if i like sad mamamoo" Yes, i think you are right. I think Paint Me will be best delivered in concert, or just on live radio..!! It will be awesome to see you react to their live radio, you'll be thrilled how they enjoy singing live on radio show..
Paint me it's my favorite song from Mamamoo, like imagining a concert and see them performing live would definitely make me cry but also would be such a special memory. Also I think it's a good name for this documentary
You're absolutely right. Paint Me is great but their live concert remix version is so good! Its very dramatic and epic sounding and is the opening for all the 4 season 4 colour concerts they held.
You should also read the lyrics of "Yes I Am." The whole song is about them confessing and embracing their individual quirks and imperfections and invites others to do the same.
this was the first mamamoo song i listened to. loved it immediately, i proceed to marathon every mv and ofc the famous immortal songs and mmm stole my heart, if it wasn't for this i'd living a mmmless life 😔
The thing about Mamamoo is that, as good as their studio version is, they almost always do it way better live (since they don't lip sync). You should definitely check out Paint Me on their 4 Season concert. Oh, and please check out Yes I Am MV on MMM's official RU-vid channel for subtitle; you have to read the lyrics to understand the message behind this empowering song.
Yes, Paint Me is the debut of vocalist Moonbyul. At that time, we moomoos kinda cry, a happy cry since we finally get to hear byul singing and since then she been singing more & more, and with her solo debut, we been fed with her unique deep vocal.
2 MVs is still great. Thank you! I think that happens to all of us when we first listen to Paint Me, but oooohhh boy, does that song grow on you, man! Those are some of my favorite MMM lyrics ever. As you can see, they're describing a relationship using colors and emotions to go with them (they all represent a color, which represents a season). Wheein said she was white when she met this person, like a canvas, she felt lonely, but it was easy and "pain-free" that way. Hwasa continues saying that when this person walked into her life, she became yellow, like the spring, filled with joy (which is how the beginning of all relationships are). Then, things, ineveitably, get harder, they become red, because it's painful, it hurts your heart. Then Solar comes in and says she became blue, the first time she cried because of this person. Eventually, they all became dark, like an espresso. But, in the end, she tells this person to never stop painting her, because they are her only painter (her one true love) and, in the end, all relationships have ups and downs. It really is beautiful, I cry everytime I hear it and the MV is STUNNING, I love how it gradually gains more and more color as they're being painted. Just... gorgeous, also, Wheein with short hair was born here and Wheein with short hair is at another level, so... yeah. I feel, this (the 4S4C Project) is when MMM started to REALLY shine and gain the attention they deserved (at least, internationally. They were already very popular in Korea), even though it wasn't until HIP when they REALLY blew up eveywhere.
'i think this is one that would be better live' you need to watch the mamamoo FW concert ! paint me & my star are so amazing live. though there is a whole 4 hour incredible concert. i wasn't sure on paint me, but it's amazing live and won me over !
Paint me has a special place in my heart cause it dropped the very next day I heard of mamamoo's exsistence, and paint me was the song that made me stay. They also sing it live in their "Fall/Winter" concert, and although they made kind of like a rock arrangement, it sounds beautiful live, you should totally check it out ;)
Paint me is the start of the 4 season 4 color project. And that is my favorite song and MV of Mamamoo. That song is so memorable. Everytime I heard that song, I always felt the vibe when I first listened to it. The feeling that I'm like in different world. Am I the only one? I'm not a fan of ballad but I really love that song. EXCEPTION ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Ah yes, Yes I Am is just a silly, sexy, fun song with a cute, quirky MV ... btdt. Not! Yes I Am is a grrl power anthem disguised as a bouncy dance track. I highly recommend Mamamoo's explanation video for Yes I Am in which they explain their "cute bluffing" concept and some of the obscure lines like Hwasa's "Me, me, 4 with the sun." The explanation vid is called [MV Commentary] MAMAMOO(마마무) - Yes I Am MV Commentary. I never took MMM lightly again after watching it (tho of course it's full of beagle nonsense and laughs too). MMM has never performed a full version of Paint Me live. The closest they came was when they used re-arranged, dramatically orchestrated parts of it to open the 4 Seasons concerts. It's my favorite Mamamoo song but it's not a typical ballad and there seem to be two reactions to it: either you're blown away or you're meh. I'm surprised you didn't have more to say about the vocals - imo it's their vocal masterpiece in a recording studio. Instrumentally it's very simple and it never moves to a climax like you'd expect but instead is like a series of waves with Solar's final line receding like gentle ripple down a beach at low tide. I'm not going to bore you with a full TED Talk on the Paint Me MV and lyrics but I'll give you a few things to think about: First off, Paint Me is the theme song of the 4S4C project so you might want to note the colors associated with each member and the emotions & the relationship stage each color represents because they'll come up again in the four albums, esp in the title track songs. A theory I agree with about the extremely unusual lyrics for Paint Me: It appears to be a love song but what if it's about their relationship with music? Nothing in the MV depicts a relationship with a lover. Every sense is mentioned in the lyrics except that of hearing, which imo is unspoken because it's what the all the metaphors in the lyrics refer to and is the beloved subject the song is addressed to. All the settings are ambiguous and the only identifiable items are the B&W pianos that function as a portal from the black and white sets at the beginning to a nebulous full color world in the clouds where the pianos are fitted together in a yin-yang symbol. Music is their medium, it's what brings meaning to their lives, and it colors all their experiences with a synesthetic effect. I think the simple, wave-like structure of the song is meant to reflect the repetitive rhythm of the seasons and the cycles of relationships and life itself. They also imply reincarnation in the final scene, which simply brings us back to another beginning, another life cycle and another wave in the song. Paint Me is a philosophic art song disguised as a pop ballad.
you were right about "yes i am" in a way, about being a fun, sexy song... but it is also more, since it's very much a self-empowerment (and female empowerment) anthem. the lyrics are them talking about their 'flaws', the things the general public says don't meet korean beauty standards, and then talking about how much they love those imperfections and idiosyncrasies since that's part of what makes them unique individuals
The live performance of Paint Me is insane! Once your done with all Mamamoo songs, you should watch there concert on RU-vid (the four seasons project concert). It’s like four hours so you don’t need to react, but it felt like I was in the concert with them!
Paint Me was the introduction song to the girls colors. MMM did a 4 seasons project (summer spring fall and winter) and each member had a color. There was 4 albums that represented the girls individually. And they each had a single. Moonbyul- Red. album: Red Moon Single was Egotistic Moon single: Selfish Hwasa: Yellow. album: Yellow Flower Single: Starry Night Hwasa single: Calm Solar: Blue. album: Blue;s Single: Windflower Solar single: Hello Wheein: White. Album: White Wind. Single: Gogobebe. Wheein single: 25
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REACTING TO THEM!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO YOUR OTHER REACTION! also paint me are good when you see a video of life performance it have powerfull impact when you already seen the message it relay in the song... P.S it's the debut song of moonbyul singing....[moonbyul actually was trained as a singer, cause the member are all good at singing, she study how to rap, and not confident / comfortable in her own voice (in singing), this was the start moonbyul more comfortable singing in their group] (she did sing before that, what i meant she become more and more, showcase her voice in singing) For : Yes I Am - are saying that you need to be a confident person... When it's winter if you wear tank top it'll feel like summer... So be yourself, comfortable in your own skin, like hello, bonjour, nihao, annyeong (all means hello), every person have their own characteristics / charms. So the difference are a plus point. When the song switches become slower, solar was singing 'round face are much more better than v-line face, it's my special thing' and moonbyul say 'i like my monolid eyes(?), And when i smile you can see my scrunch nose, and i compliment them(?)' [sorry didn't know the exact word, but you get the gist]. So the song are an empowerment to love yourself, be confident in your own skin, your flaws can become your unique charm. Paint me - as in the lyrics saying white when he just come, like an empty canvas. yellow when you feel happiness. Red when you feel the warm in your heart. Blue when cry for him for the first time. so at reff they say, paint me with your scent, every colour, even if it'll turn black like night / espresso it's alright, it'll became richer (means many memories and all), if you didn't paint me, I'll be empty (like a white canvas)
I really love your reaction videos for Mamamoo, since I don't know anyone in real life who love Mamamoo or kpop in general, I react to your reaction.. and it feels like finally I found someone who understands how I feel as well!! Keep it up Austin! Thank you for making these videos :D
Next is four season four colours Paint me was the introduction to that project First album is yellow flower and is for spring and hwasa also has a solo in it
Omg your cat looks exactly like mine. Both lions😂 His also a brat that keeps walking over and laying on top of my keyboard haha + your favorite color is purple! The superior taste on this channel off the charts. The lyrics on Yes I Am are very inspiring and Paint me took a long while to grow on me but it's now one of my favorite MMM songs. You're right about being a song better sung live!
