@@nebula_M42 Yeah, It's not that hard once you've fiddled enough with your guitar neck, picking up the notes is easy depending on the band, metallica's real basic composition wise. Always the same scales, I learned it 2 days later, still need to clean it up, but the notes weren't that hard to find. It's pretty easy to learn, just get used to the notes on your neck by literally jamming with random chords to a certain rythm and switch it up and down, it doesn't have to sound good, you just need your brain to slowly go "So, if I go over here, that should sound like...this...I guess" and you'll realize with time your guesses are more often than not correct. You just gotta get this in your system, just pick random notes and chords and soak it all in. You'll be abble to do it in no time. A good start would be the intro of "Rock you like a hurricane" 5 chords, easy to play, and they're straight in the middle of your neck (kinda) So by knowing how those 5 chords sound by their location, you can start guessing if the note you're looking for is higher or lower on the neck, the chords kinda act like a road map for an estimate to a higher or lower note.

@mloftus8618
@mloftus8618 Год назад
Agree they are accessible. They started this back in the mid-90’s to the chagrin of their roots and their original fans. With tossing the occasional bone to hopefully satisfy those fans (most of Death Magnetic, a few songs on Hardwired). But they are a totally different band since then. Unfortunately. They are no longer a “big 4” thrash band imo. They have been hard rock pop since then. I will never fault them for making the decision to do this, since it was smart business and made them one of the most profitable bands ever. But it is a huge disappointment to see such a talented band sell out. Even this song, for example, is actually a genius blend. Is teases old school thrash before settling into hard pop, rock, etc. very accessible to a large audience. Great musicians, great businessmen. I just wish they stayed true. But maybe this is what they wanted to be all along? Who knows… PS - I do like the Black album. It has some great songs and bangers. But it was the first sign they were changing directions. The next few albums were just not Metallica anymore imo. Then they tried to balance out their styles to appease more audience. But they enjoy making this music I’m sure, so I’m not mad at them. Just personally disappointed, since I believe they are genius thrash metal writers, and couldve been even more legendary.

Saw them many times while in Hollywood around '93/94/95 (?)... He walked away from them (or really they did the "split/get out of the contracts/reformed later" routine...) and went into production with a LOT of credits that don't sound like R/B... I was gonna say the exact same thing. Def kill ‘em all vibes, if not quite with the same raw presence. But that’s to be expected after a few decades

The tone of the guitars and feel of the riffs feels like a classic ‘one up’ of Megadeths new album.. which is great because those two bands competing is what brings the fire for them at this age

Thought so too

Except that Megadeth new album is a killer and this Metallica first single… sorry but too weak compared to it.

I know its probably something I should be able to do more efficiently after playing for 15 years - but the way you just immediately figured out the notes blew my mind. Damn I need to practice my ear more!

Best song they've released in a long time. I totally get Motorhead, Judas Priest, and 80's NWOBHM vibes. Classic song already!

Rick, that was super fun watching you pick put some of the goodies in their new song. I heard it a few days ago on my way home from work... i cranked it the F up and rolled the windows down like the old days. Great new stuff from them, can't wait till the rest of the album comes out. We looked up there tour for 23,24 wow big money, but the the lines ups...are killer

Also, love the Blue SG... when I was 18ish, I was given an SG. It had electrical issues, i tore it all the way down and found a wire came unsoldered. My Grandpa helped me solder it, then i painted it a similar color blue. I miss that Guitar 🎸 😢 😞

Serioulsy the main riff is similar to Seek and Destroy. People can complain all they want but the band sounds like they are going back to their roots with this album.
