The book was a bit more clear later that the reason Harry had to live with the Dursleys is he was under a special protective spell that only worked when he lived with family and they were his only family left. But this skit is funny and they never actually really mentioned it in the movie or until book 6 so it works.

Tbh thinking about it realistically tho… Fred and George probably don’t know who all of the boys are in Ron’s year or who he shares a room with. Nor do they know the name Peter Pettigrew, so why wouldn’t they assume it’s just another roommate? Like they use the map for sneaking around, I doubt they stare at Ron’s room to analyse who the roommates are. Like I know it’s a funny thing to point out, but I don’t actually think it’s as crazy as people say. Like the only boy that’s mentioned in Fred and George’s year is Lee Jordan, and I’m pretty sure they would’ve shared a dorm with other boys that’s not mentioned. So seeing other names in their room wouldn’t mean anything to anyone

There are several issues with this. For example it is rather unclear whether or not the map shows the Hogwarts ghosts or not. Fred and George definitely used it to evade the professors and Filch but whenever Harry is out at night encountering ghosts like the Bloody Baron or the poltergeist Peeves is a risk. So many people assume that the map did indeed allow the twins to evade those, too. Assuming this to be true we should question from which of the boys Ron was handed down Scabbers. If it's Charlie then we have a rather simple solution. Charlie finished school the same year Ron first came to Hogwarts. Assuming he gave Scabbers to Ron to not take him to Romania and the dragons... well and since the boys never rotate through any other dorms we have to assume that Charlie's peers had slept in the same dorm as Ron's... which means that for all the time the twins had the map, Peter Pettigrew had always spent his nights in the same dorm room. Then there is the question of how big the dorm rooms are displayed on the map. Given that we see Dumbledore roaming his office we can compare the map to the set and if we now compare the office set to the dorm set... well let's just say the map should look really crowded while Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean, and Seamus were in it. Which brings us to the nametags themselves. We see several nametags overlap while they move around on the map or rather the inhabitants move across each other in Hogwarts. But since Ron often carries Scabbers around the nametags of Ron and Peter should move together... with one probably hidden behind the other. People keep saying that Peter Pettigrew should always stand out behind Ron's name but remember that his name is Ronald Weasley. Finally... why would the twins even check out the boys' dorm room int he first place? They were allowed to roam the Gryffindor common room at night... only when they headed out they had to make sure to not to run into anyone. Even if they had feared their brothers might catch them in the act of sneaking out, they just had to make sure the common room was clear, not that each of their brother or other Gryffindors was in their beds.

Fred and George are 2 years ahead of Ron and Harry, so when the twins gave the map to Harry in Harry’s third year, they would’ve had it for 5 years at that point and would’ve had it for 3 years while Ron was at Hogwarts. One thing to note with this also is that it’s possible they had lost interest in the map by the time Ron went to Hogwarts and didn’t use it as often. Another possibility is that they didn’t bother spying on Ron because why would they want to? They aren’t exactly nosey toward Ron and would’ve been too preoccupied with their own things to want to watch his name on the map.

It's funny, most plot holes or character decisions that people complain about are explained in the books, but the one consistent thing that is never explained is the amount of dangerous events/creatures/factors that exist at Hogwarts and how the safety of students is constantly in questions

Plus angels/stars on trees, almost all the carols have religious elements, there are specific reasons for certain foods being eaten around the world (especially Europe and the US) that have to do with Christianity, Santa Claus coming from a Christian Saint, the little nativity scenes with the manger and stuff, also the nativity plays that happen during that time of year, the lanterns in the Philippines for the star, the idea of giving coal, King Cake with the baby Jesus in it which you eat for día de los reyes or in the American South it’s known as King’s Day or other places Epiphany, in Poland you eat oplatek, and finally the idea of Christmas trees are a religious symbol. Also, it’s not clear if gingerbread houses originated because of the stable jesus was supposedly born in, but they existed before they became widespread due to Hansel and Gretel. Even if these traditions have spread beyond their religious origins, the fact is that many of the traditions of non-secular christmas stem from Christianity. It’s well-documented that the Roman Catholics celebrated Christmas at the end of the December despite the census (and thus Jesus’s birth) taking place in the spring because it was easier to incorporate their traditions and meanings into the pre-existing traditional celebrations of Yule and Saturnalia, but aside from the actual feasting, gathering around fireplaces, potentially elves, and general celebratory atmosphere, our modern customs differ greatly from those celebrations, to the point where they’re essentially unrecognizable. Ultimately, Christianity has shaped Christmas and the majority of modern traditions, making it impossible to extricate it historically. Even most of the traditions that persist beyond the confines of Christianity into the general population still have those origins, so I think it’s quite unfair to say “Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus.”

There's a dark theory that Dumbledore set the whole trapdoor thing up for Harry lol which kinda makes sense given how easy it was to get through for them and how unnecessary were the other traps, plus Dumbledore giving him hints and things like the Invisibility Cloak throughout the year.

I feel like this needs an asterisk with a lot of book notes: 1. Fred and George enchanted snowballs to fly into Quirell’s turban, which means they were unknowingly pelting Voldemort in the face with snowballs and that’s just hilarious 2. The thing about time turners never coming up again; at the end of book 5, the room in the Ministry where all of the time turners are kept gets completely destroyed during the battle with the Death Eaters and thus so do all the time turners 3. Goblet of Fire is the longest book, of course they had to cut like half of it out, including the twins making a ridiculous bet with a Ministry guy who got cut from the films entirely that Ireland would win the game even though Krum of Bulgaria catches the snitch which gives his team 150 points

It always annoyed me so much that a basilisk is a real reptile and it isn't a snake. Not only does it have legs, it can famously run so fast that it can run across the surface of water. there is a mythological snake called a basilisk that was only 12 inches long and left a trail of venom. A cockatrice was depicted as a two legged creature with a snakelike body and a birdlike head an the ability to kill with it's gaze. I never read the books so I don't know if the wrong mythological creature got described for the name with them being conflated with each other there or if the team doing the CGI monster looked for references and got the wrong one but somehow we ended up with a giant snake that killed with it's gaze and no giant trail of venom.

So both names for it are good also it probably depends on in which part of the world you would ask xD And J.K Rowling probably just created a similar creature that would fit HP and the story the best.

There are so many plot holes surrounding Sirius's false imprisonment in particular that there is actually a popular fan theory that Dumbledore knew Sirius was innocent but let him get sent to Azkaban without a proper trial so no one would fight him when he gave Harry to the Dursleys for the blood wards

Technically it only took 2 years for a kid to die, in the books. In chamber of secrets a child did die. I think he was a muggle born? Its been quite a while ainfe I've read them. But i know a kid died in 2. Because hardy was sneaking around, out out bed with a basilica loose. And they were going to shut down the school, literally only when a child died. And jot just the petrifications 😂

None of the victims died during Harry's time, they were all lucky and only got petrified. You might be thinking of the fact that the first time the Basilisk was set loose 50 years earlier, a kid did die (it was Moaning Myrtle). Or that near the end of the book they were planning to shut down the school after Ginny was taken to the Chamber, because due to the wording of the threatening message Riddle left, they thought she had been killed. But Harry went and saved her, so nobody ultimately died.

28:24 There's a bit of error when it comes to math (Author weakness) and some others here and there but i wouldn't call it massive plothole. If anything, the book filled up the movies plothole since 1/3 chunk of the source material is cut off from the book for the movies to happen and some events were merge into one or a filler just added to pad the time since the chunk they removed from previous movie is related to the next so they can't add it in. 28:31 Don't just affirm "that's true" if you haven't read the books. at least pick up an audio book if you're to lazy to read.

This guy totally cracks me up and you're so on point on everything he's had to say. I personally have taken all my Harry Potter books and movies and tossed themin the trashcan after JK Rowling started posting her views and comments against the LGBT community especially transgender people she's no different than the very bullies that she had in her books as being villains, and if she's that narrow-minded I want nothing to do with any of her works...... But I did enjoy this guy's commentary on the Harry Potter movies.

I'm so glad there's someone else who feels the same way! Most people I see in HP spaces seem to either ignore or condone what she's doing. It's extremely hard for me because I've spent more than half my life obsessed with this world, and she's destroyed it. Personally, I've spent too much money on my HP paraphernalia to outright throw it away right now, but they're all hidden in the back of my closet now because I can't bear to look at them. Eventually I will throw them away though. I really appreciate you speaking out about it, because I don't see as many people as I want talking about the damage she's done and what disgusting and horrible things she's said. My brother is trans, and I have friends that are trans, and I live in fear of their lives because of people like her. Again, I just wanted to thank you for talking about it, and making me feel less alone in this.

25:54 wat. Tbh the Harry Potter is prob my least favourite compilation, after the 4th one he goes kinda too crazy with the characters imo 🙄 You should watch the Pirates, transformers, James Bond compilation 😁 Also watch the Pitch for the Hunger Games Sequels (it's just one vid I think)
