The worst part about my opponent turning on constant pressure is how it effects MY players. All of a sudden my passes aren’t accurate and my players can’t turn or dribble when I wasn’t even the one activating anything

Gotta give him credit he’s probably one of the few that’s passionate about having the game improve. Without him the speaking out about these specific issues the game would probably be significantly worse tbh

I'm very happy that someone finally commented on exactly what I've been thinking for a long time. People started treating video games purely as a job, a sense of obligation. People no longer seem to care about the experience of that time invested, and this is not just about FIFA. Of course, a multiplayer game, in most cases, is about winning, but that doesn't mean people need to give up any sense of relaxation or any shred of fun to be able to play a game.

When under constant pressure. Double tap RB to call 2 players to the ball. Use that to break the lines, and you'll score SO easy

In my experience in this game the only way to defend is to use a press or atleast manual Team press sometimes. If you don’t use any press variation, your opponent will just hold the ball and push you back into your penalty box and then trivella, elastico or just lucky bounce though your team. Sometimes it feels like I can only win the ball back with team press, unless the opponent makes a stupid mistake in build up. I never used constant pressure or another press btw, just Team press with what I consider good timing

So the point at 26:00 reminded me of something some friends and I discussed. Not entirely on topic, but the reason that people rat out games in general to guarantee a result, in my opinion, has to do with the popularity of gaming on twitch and video-games having a growing competitive scene. People now associate success and enjoyment with WINNING. FUN = WINNING to so many people, especially in this FIFA community. It's no longer a matter of competitive nature when someone starts sweating against you and trying to have fun. People immediately do what they can to increase their odds of winning a game to guarantee the result so that they can mimic pros and these guys on twitch that are really good at the game. No one plays anymore to have "fun", it's now entirely just about being good at the game and trying to be as close to a professional level as possible, even if in reality 99% of these people will never reach a pro level and compete for money. This same shift in mentality can be seen with a lot of youtube content creation. Games like COD, 2K, FIFA, etc are now plagued with the BEST formations, the BEST build, the BEST setup, 20-0 rewards, 100 game streak, 100kill game. I again, attribute this to the rise of competitive gameplay and the popularity of twitch. It gave people a way to easily platform their skills and makes everyone want to be the "next guy." Hell I'll put some blame on Fortnite's competitive scene for killing enjoyment, IMO that game made it mainstream to be a professional gamer and a professional sweat. TLDR; Twitch and Professional Gaming killed creativity and enjoyment on games by creating a mentality shift on what's considered "fun" and everyone wants to mimic a pro now.

That constant pressure or press after possession loss tactic is absolutely true, the gameplay already so slow, passing is horrible, our player suddenly braindead don't make a run or space and stuck because they get pressed. Like honestly how u counter that tactic? Its disgusting.

There's not enough of a deterrent against rats using constant pressure for the whole game, it states in the description that it drains more stamina, but every time I look at my opponents stamina bars, they are either identical to mine, or only slightly worse off, by half time my opponents players should be exhausted, forcing them into a change of tactics, and then to top it off their defensive depth is always on no more than 20 with that god damn long ball chance creation tactic straight up to Haaland or IF Sorloth

Pressure on heavy touch and Fast build up play with quick small passes is the way to beat constant pressure, use your fullbacks and switch the play when you can. Let your opponents get frustrated.

It's funny Nick says he wants to play PES, when that is exactly what you do in PES. eFootball is a bit different (but also way worse in other regards) but PES 21 and before, this was exactly what happened. Geggenpress spam and then play 4 Centre Back and 3 CDM formation. The difference was it happened randomly, so sometimes your opponents tactic simply would'nt activate.

There were times when in fifa 16 and before there used to be different play style like if someone is a dribbler or someone likes possession or someone likes counter attack or someone who specialises at passing but now it’s all about the sweatiness and the hope that my opponent is not sweaty.

I'd like to see a series of non meta, realistic tactics. I imagine these videos would be frustrating to make but I think it would be useful to undoubtedly expose just how one dimensional and how unrelated to real football this game is.

Help me understand, so constant pressure does not effect stamina much? It seems anytime someone has constant press on me or I turn it on to get a goal back if down late my stamina goes down like crazy..

On a FIFA note, they should just remove custom tactics entirely and return the d-pad presets tactics. The game died entirely after it. Play the damn formation you start your team in I'm tired of playing someone running a ST are RWB just to be able to play a 5-1-2-2

I've played FIFA since FIFA 2008 and I'm happy to say that I still don't understand and or care about custom tactics or player instructions. I just go to formation, choose 4-2-4 and put midfielders on the wing if I have to so that the formation works 😂🤣 I know like 5 skills that I merchant efficiently and I learnt how to do chip through balls in FIFA 2012😂 I'm glad to admit that I struggle to go into division 2 on ultimate team and that means I get to play matches where I sometimes win by huge margins or lose by huge margins and I enjoy all of them equally. I still have fun playing FIFA and I still don't plan on learning how to player lock or make the goalkeeper ChaCha slide across the goal line. It's sad people who do t play this game for a job (professionally), do so much to win just for that short boost of dopamine while they are stressed the entire match and don't even enjoy the process.

For the last couple of years I just accepted going for the 11 wins/rank V, because those are the only games I actually can use fun teams and play nice, beyond and in the elite division I try to avoid more games than necessary because it's just so boring/frustrating.

The point of your trivela is as soon as you put pressure to the guy shooting the trivella there should be a smaller chance of success. Now its just ball roll the defender even if he's pushing you. You green it goes in. If there is space i agree. Should be going in. Not if my defender is pushing and you ball roll trivela instantly. Because there is indeed need for a mechanic against people that drop back constantly. I defend manually almost all the time. Trivellas are the only things people score against me. As soon as there is an angle. Ball roll trivela. Even the animation doesnt look natural. From a balance perspective it isnt even possible to perform irl

This is exactly the reason i mainly play squad battle, buy different players, test players, test tactics, try all kind of skill moves, create beautiful goals… and simply PLAY THE GAME! When i go in Rivals, all i see is parking the bus and counter from D10 to D5. I won many games there but no one is actually playing the game. Sad very sad!

Been saying for years that all the pressure tactics need to go. At the moment one of the best ways of attacking is to lose the ball near your opponents box, have press on possession loss on, wait for the AI to pounce on your opponent, boom you’re through on goal. It’s so dumb.

I'm just now finding this video after just starting to play 23 like... 5 days ago for the first time and I was like, "Damn what the fuck is up with this pressing shit? I can't find a strategy that works against it!", then.. come to find out, it is obviously a problem.. so.. that makes me feel better. But.. there has always been some sort of Rat tactic going all the way back to when I really started playing FIFA in like 2010.
