They were invited by Metallica themselves, with pop artist Alessia Cara, to cover this song for the Blacklist album, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Metallica specifically asked for the artists invited to completely re-imagine the songs, but out of the 53 covers, The Warning, even though they were by far the least well known and the youngest invited, were one of the few that had the guts to go that far with the arrangements.

In 2014 The Warning did a faithful cover of Enter Sandman in their basement when they were 9, 12, and 14 years of age. Filmed it for their grandparents to see their progress. Went viral and seen by over 20 million viewers and by Metallica themselves. Metallica knew they could do Enter Sandman faithfully, instead they tasked The Warning to rework Enter Sandman with Canadian singer Alessia Cara for the 30th anniversary Blacklist album. To keep the lyrics, but to turn the song upside down and inside out. Make it their own. Classically trained musicians at an early age, The Warning even have a version of Enter Sandman where they are accompanied on stage by a string section of an orchestra!

The thing is it was commisioned by Metallica for their Blacklist album, 30th anniversary of the Black Album. The directions were to change it up turn it inside out. They clearly understood the assignment. Thanks for coming back. Plenty more a great things out there from them, they are different every time.
Metallica asked them to participate in their 30th anniversary "Blacklist" album. This ended up as the first track on that LP , so I think it's fair to say that Metallica liked their version of "Enter Sandman".

Even that they did their own way rather than simply copying Metallica. The drum pattern in particular is quite different and follows the melodic line rather than simply beating time.
There's a great cover of Atlas Rise at the Whiskey A Go-Go from a few years ago you might like. Atlas Rise was the last cover they did before performing their own music exclusively. Enter Sandman is more of a remake than a cover.
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Erol, nice reaction to this rendition of Enter Sandman. Folk have already given you the backstory and also recommended their viral 2014 traditional cover that put them on the map. For next suggest: “Hell you Call a Dream” official live from the Pepsi Center in Mexico. It’s phenomenal and was just dropped in March. You’ll see them bring the energy up a level, especially Dany’s voice (guitarist) and you will absolutely love watching Pau on the drums and Ale (“Ah-ley”) absolutely driving the whole song on her bass. Hell You Call A Dream (or HYCAD) is just tremendously powerful. The live version is (IMO) vastly better than the studio; it's heavier, more passionate, and the sheer joy on Pau's face is something to behold.

Welcome to The Warning Army, good to see that you're enjoying the ride. As others have mentioned the crushing of the original already took place in 2014 by two teenagers and a nine year old! I have only three suggestions for you when it comes to TW. The first is to watch it all, not just the lives and music videos but also their interviews, Ted talks, aftermovies etc. The second one is react to the songs from Queen Of The Murder Scene in the order of the album. Since it's a concept album, and a very good one at that, the best experience is to follow the story. Number three is when you get the chance to see them live do it! I've been to two shows on their European tour recently, have a third one in August and managed to get tickets for their second date in Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City early next year. They have many very good live recordings like this one but experiencing it yourself is on a whole other level.

There is something so very special about The Warning. Dany, Pau and Ale's version honestly is equal to the original, and sits happily next to the original. What they did was took one of the most iconic songs in metal history, turned it on it's head and made it even creepier. At some point check out the official music video the girls did, because there is a lot of musical bliss that isn't performed live. For example Pau speaks the bedtime prayer (now I lay me down to sleep) in this very delicate voice, and during "hush little baby" you hear all three vocalizing a harmony with ahhs (spine tingling) with another track of Dany gently singing "hush little baby don't say a word." As you rightfully pointed out in your reaction to Evolve there is a deep classic vibe the girls create. The influence of "their dad's music" as Dany stated once, is very rooted into their DNA. As a musician myself of 40 plus years with 34 focused on bass guitar The Warning have hit me so hard. Ale is among my bass influences because the notes she doesn't play are just as important as the notes she does. Meaning she knows when to riff with Dany, or hold the beat with Pau. Even take the main riff (like in Dust to Dust or Disciple). Pau being the head writer/composer, music genius, multi award winning, co-director, scream of doom queen, and much more of the band reminds me of how much Neil Peart added to RUSH. Dany doesn't need to be some shredding guitarist because we've already had many of them (Vai, Satch, Petrucci), but she can rip! That's what we've needed in guitarist/singer for a very long time, and it's so awesome. It takes bands decades to reach multiple generations, and these girls did it in just 10 years having five to entertain: Baby Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y/Millennial, Gen Z (theirs) and Gen Alpha the kids behind Gen Z.

First, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but when I heard this version, I literally jumped out of my seat !!! The Edge, the Attitude, THE DRUMMS... This song is on Metallica's tribute album "The Metallica Blacklist", And it's great and all (Alessia Cara is the singer with The Warning), but I love Dany's voice more. This song needs a Rock edge not R&B singer. And, That Guitar what Dany is playing is a stagegift from Lizzy Hale ! NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘
I think everything has already been said in the comments about this song, it is a great re-interpretation of it. Just for you to know, that white Gibson Explorer that Dany is playing was gifted to her by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm in a tour where The Warning was opening for them. Lzzy felt so inspired by Dany that she did that as a way of "paying forward" a similar action that happened to her years ago. Look for that moment on YT when Lzzy gives Dany the guitar, it is touching, and also an interview where Lzzy tells the story. Lzzy has been an idol of Dany, so you can imagine how she felt about this. Great reaction 🤘🤘

The drummer of The Warning ("Pau", for Paulina) some years back did a solo cover of "Creep", shot on her iPhone, played on the family's slightly-out-of-tune upright piano. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

Very nice.. You might consider adjusting the size of my the video you're playing. It's kinda lost in the corner. "Too small" otherwise it's a great job.. this is the only cover they play these days but they do have a lot of old videos of the younger years.. 🤘🎶✌️

This version is amazing. The video they did for the blacklist album is excellent and a little different from this live version. It features a little more of Alessia Cara's vocals (you hear a little of her in this one as a backing track).

From that Teatro Metropolitan show, any song is gold. Amazing sound quality and I prefer them to the studio version. But check "Dust to Dust". That show is from 2022. In Warning development years, that's old. Check "Hell you call a a Dream" live at Pepsi Center. That song will be oart of their upcoming album

You should check out “The SiXsters” (5 now) Ukrainian girl Musicians. Best songs to try would be “Feels” rock, “City” harder rock, “I stare at You” ballad, or. You might like “For Us For Me” Groovy. Songs in English. They have Keys. They sound like fresh ‘60s ‘70s rock to me.

I love The Warning so much that I watch Reaction videos as an excuse to see them again. But when the screen in your video is so small I can hardly see it. And I'm viewing on a 55" T.V. screen. Your head is bigger than their video. The Warning Army are so polite they would never complain but I'm a 76 old grouchy dude. Nice reaction otherwise. Thank you.
Can I make a suggestion? Make the video you're watching at least a little bigger. I have a large TV and it's still small. I'm glad you like these girls. I really think they are going to be one of the biggest rock groups in the future.
