"BALETE" is a specie of plant, a vine wrapping any tree, specialy an "akasya" tree, that creates a large structure, some caves a tree or create a house tree, so large depending on a tree or numbers of tree they will wrapped around, even wrestling a stone or actually a house litteraly. FYI
My dude... you're only half right. "The balete tree are several species of the trees in the Philippines from the genus Ficus that are broadly referred to as balete in the local language." (Wikipedia)
Trese = Spanish/Tagalog word for the number 13, which is a superstitious number in Philippines and most Western countries The Anime is the first that I know of that is voice dubbed in English, Tagalog and Japanese. In fact, they specifically made the English version to be spoken with a Filipino English accent, not the typical America or UK accent. Also, remember the reaction video you did a few months back of the Philippines Mythical Creatures? You'll see or recognise them throughout the Anime series.
Philippine shamans, commonly known as Babaylan (also balian or katalonan, among many other names) were shamans of the various ethnic groups of the pre-colonial Philippine islands. These shamans specialized in communicating, appeasing, or harnessing the spirits of the dead and the spirits of nature
The train is MRT in EDSA. Its amazing watch the video Cripin and Basilio.. Alexandra Trese body guards naned after in the book of Jose Rizal Philippines national hero. The body guards. The monsters are based on the videoes you already shared Mythological creatures in the Philippines
Some people complain about the art style. Anime means nothing else than animated movie. Yeah it gives Batman vibes and Incincible vibes but it is a polished version. It looks fine. Especially the faces of the creatures with all the details are so clean and well animated. What I do mind is the script sometimes Ugh.... so many old clichés. But I love the concept and the story is entertaining enough, all in all a good watch.
Hi Guys, it's a nice movie (just to while the time) about the Old Folk Stories of Pilipino Mythical Creatures that had been handed down from generation to generation. Almost all Pilipinos know about this Folktales. BTW, the main character is Alexandra TRESE and TRESE is a corrupted spelling of the Spanish Number TRECE which means THIRTEEN. There's even a superstition that the number 13 is bad luck. Pilipinos used to count in Spanish, even in telling the Time of the Day we say it in Spanish.
There is a voice over cast for English, Filipino, Japanese languages. I've watched both the English and Filipino (Tagalog) versions. The English-speaking cast is mainly done by Hollywood Fil-American or Fil-Canadian actors, like Shay Mitchell of Pretty Little Liars, while local star, Liza Soberano voices Trese in the Tagalog version. I had to brush up on my folklore before I watched the series. It's been a while since I've seen anything about the supernatural in Filipino shows or films. Last time I saw a supernatural being from local folklore was when the "aswang" was featured in the American TV series, Grimm in 2014.
if ur familiar of manila areas ... you will identify where the scene is... its an old folk stories about mythical creatures in the philippines... like aswang, capri, sigbin, white lady, tianac, and more...
The series starts slow. I would recommend watching at least 2 episodes. Also it's only 6 episodes for season 1. Shay does the english dub, while Liza does the tagalog dub.
The 3-minute video extro made me find an artifact in your beach photo. It's in the upper left part of the sky; hovering above the 3rd and 4th most prominent coconut trees from the left.
Watching it now in English. It's a pretty star-studded voice cast. They got famous Hollywood actors of Filipino descent to do the characters, like Darren Criss, Nicole Scherzinger and Lou Diamond Phillips among others.
