Ok but the fact that nun used BABY dolls to demonstrate sex. Like that is so wrong on so many levels. The whole situation was just wrong but the fact it was dolls that look like babies just makes it worse.

I grew up Mormon, and in my 9th grade seminary class one day, my teacher had the class debate on a few current issues, and when it came to gay marriage, literally everyone on my half of the room (which was supposed to represent the “for” side) stood up and walked to the other side of the classroom (the “against” side) except for me. It was seriously the kind of thing that would make me roll my eyes and say, “yeah, sure, that totally happened,” if I didn’t witness it myself. Not to be overly cheesy, but that moment taught me the meaning of the phrase, “stand up for what you believe in, even if that means standing alone.” I was fully preparing myself to argue my side single-handedly (although I’m sure I wouldn’t have done a very good job of it back then), but my teacher just decided to move on to the next topic instead. Tbh I’m still lowkey salty about that

You should totally read the book "Walking the Bridgeless Canyon: Repairing the Breach Between the Church and the LGBT Community"! It covers a lot of information on how politics influenced the Church's view on being gay and it addresses what the Bible actually says about same-sex relationships (spoiler, there's not actually anything in the bible saying same-sex relationships are bad, it's all misinterpretations, mistranslations, and other BS).
@conlon4332
@conlon4332 2 года назад
@Botanist Baddie I'd read the book they suggested, rather than asking for the information in a RU-vid comment. You don't have to agree with the book, but you should still read it so you know what you're disagreeing with. Read the book, ponder its opinion, do your own research, and form your own opinion. At the end of the day you can think whatever you want to think, but make sure you're informed and hear the other side first - and don't expect to get all that from RU-vid. Read the book, and decide what you think then. I'm not saying don't go in biased - that's almost impossible, but try to keep an open mind, and please, please, don't just decide you're right without hearing both sides - and in this case reading that book seems like a great way to do that - because people make the worst decisions and form the most irrational opinions if they're not informed on different arguments. Please, please, don't be one of those people. If you love us that means listening, even if you don't agree.

As a lesbian who went to catholic school and suppressed her feelings for way too long, I highly approve of this video. Also my story: we had this one girl in our class who shaved her hair before PE and went to the Prom dressed in a suit and I always admired her for just being herself. Now this person is non-binary and goes by they/them. They travel live in a camper with their girlfriend and dog. I envy them so much. They’re such a mood!

Last year in my ethic class we talked about getting children and the fear of being pushed into the cliché women role by our husband. I (lesbian) wanted to to make a joke that I can relate to this fear to my best friend. We sat in the first row and when I made the joke my teacher looked at me. In the next question the teacher said "your husbands.. Or wives" and looked at me and my friend

People may dislike you all they want but God would *never* dislike you. There are animals and so many different cultures were same-sex relationships happen and are okay, if God created all there is on Earth (if that's your belief) and They are about love, how come They would not love all of us? Jesus was always on the side of everyone who were rejected by society. He would be the first to support us. So, no. It's beautiful to be a lesbian and it's absolutely okay. We are regular people and can have loving healthy lifes *and families* ❤❤❤🏳️‍🌈

christian raised bi girl here. I have had people try to tell me that it is against god to be queer. but there is so much muck surrounding the bible, how it’s been translated, re-written, and re-published bajillions of times that people have inserted their own narratives into some texts so they could speak against things like homosexuality to denounce it as if it was God’s word. But it’s important to note that the Bible is god’s word as written and translated by man. this statement implies that people have had a large role in twisting the message to fit their own views of what’s right and what’s wrong. Throughout history, christians have used the bible and their faith to justify colonization. To normalize misogynistic practices. Basically, to do a lot of bad things that hurt a lot of people. and queer folk were no exception to this. It’s astonishing how many people are made to believe that being queer is intrinsically against God or something sinful like that. sins imply that you can atone and change, so as not to sin anymore. but being queer is not something you can just change. so why would God design you like that just to send you to hell for it? homosexuality has been observed in hundreds of species, but homophobia is only present in one. glad you’re doing better.

Hi Keara! Here is my story! So I was struggling with the depression and one day I just broke down and luckily I was able to talk about it with my stepmom. I started growing comfortable around her, she asked me if I have a crush on anyone, I said yes. She then said oh is he handsome. I then quietly said “actually, I have a crush on a girl”. To my surprise my stepmom had a happy and shocked look and said I knew it! Apparently she had her suspected me being LGTBQ. She told me nothing is wrong with it and that in highschool she used to date many girls and found it and poly relationships really cool! She is really supportive and the first one I came out to! I am pansexual by the way 😊 however I was not expecting for her to be Bisexual! We r now even closer

My friend went to catholic school. TW for severe bullying She told me a story where she was pinned against the wall by other students(it was her and one of her friends) as they yelled kiss the f-. Right outside the counseling office and started muscling them to do it and assaulting them(like the other students were physically trying to force them to kiss). They didn’t know what being gay was or what the f slur was at the time. They eventually managed to push their way out. Did I mention this was right by the counseling office. They were clearly traumatized by this(they were spacey and disassociating when they told me) as anyone would be. The main girl who pinned them up against the wall and the main person had bullied them for a while making sl*t and wh*re comments in the hallway unprovoked and would constantly go out of their way to bump into her and push her around she and her friend just ignored it. That was the first incident where it got really physical. No the bully’s weren’t punished(even though multiple people told on them) that would be crazy if school actually punished bullies They also now identify as bisexual.!

I have an incident, but with my English Literature professor.. I have always been happy because of her intellectual openness and acceptance of difference, unlike what prevails in our Arab society.. But in one of the lectures, one of the students asked about queer studies and gender studies, which are the only theories that we did not study! She started by telling the student that this is genetic deviation and that it is contrary to religion, even though she herself disagrees with many of the prevailing religious opinions, especially with regard to women.. which made me argue with her from a scientific point of view, and that it is no longer considered a disease, neither from a genetic nor psychological point of view.. She started giving justifications and trivial and ordinary arguments that made me shocked by this contradiction in her personality and way of thinking.. Anyway, because I had been in love with her since my undergraduate days (I am currently a master's student), I felt annoyed after this incident and started crying... Fortunately, the lecture was online, but from then, I became cold in my feelings for her...

@@idibidi3724 no, in Spanish is more complicated than that. The whole language is gendered, so we even "assign genders" to inanimate objects so we can use a gendered pronoun to refer to it. So, for example, the moon would be a "she" so we can say 'la luna' instead of 'el luna'. There are a few exceptions, but that's the gist of it. We are now adapting, however, and have added the personal pronouns 'elle' and 'le' (this one already existed and was in use to refer to anyone, although considered "incorrect" in that use) to refer to non-binary people; which is great, but not many people have taken up on that. It doesn't help that we have a Royal Academy of Language that we are supposed to follow and that they have forgotten that grammar should be descriptive, not prescriptive.

Or mabey it means that people have turned the word gay into an insult so now both genders can't do anything that's stereotypically considered of the opposite gender, cuz they'll be called gay even though they're not. It's specifically an issue with guys. They take being called gay too much at heart.

Yes! Someone else who was smooshing faces at catholic school! I used to do that as well with a beautiful gal I adored for a long time, but we couldn’t be together thanks to her family. But I also realised I loved women, since they always gave me the adorable butterflies which still happens. I fell in love and dated my best friend, but we ‘had to’ have boyfriends so it took me years until I had a girlfriend who said ‘You don’t have to date men, you can date a woman publicly’. That actually blew my damn mind, yay internalised homophobia….

So I have one tooo So when I was in middle school I was a closeted bisexual and obviously no one knew Everyone in my school was very homophobic and one day 2 ppl from my class were talking badly about gay and queer ppl during science. The next day a priest comes into our class to talk to us about queer people and initially to tell us why it's wrong but we shouldn't be talking about it So basically the priest starts saying how the point of sex is to have kids and God wants us to have kids and a family and so on. He also says that we should "help" them and not make fun of them and talk about them like those 2 were doing. And then one of the two who were talking in science starts arguing with me Because me being a closeted bi girl got mad at the priest and started saying nothing's wrong with it, you can still have a family, and so on and then the other girl starts arguing with me and it was a whole thing we spent the entire time saying the other was in the wrong and the priest was just... we ended up at the guidance counsellor and obviously I'm the one that got in trouble But I do not regret it at all

I remember the first time I ever admitted to my mom I like girls. She essentially said, you can either make a big deal about it, or don't. Which one will it be? The vibe I got at the time, was "ignore those feelings, and they will go away." I had so much self loathing for being something other than straight. It was how I was taught. Years later, I fell in love with a man, (I'm bi), and now we are married. Man, I think my whole family feels like they dodged a bullet. And surprisingly, my husband is the most accepting of me being bi. 💙 Oh and btw, you can be monogamous and bi, and you are still bi. 😂

Okay, so I am not catholic or religious in any sense but for some reason this video reminded me of something so here goes. My kindergarten teacher had a daughter who was like four or five grades above me and she would come hang out in the kindergarten room sometimes and I developed this MASSIVE kid-crush on her. Like, I would get super excited whenever I saw her and would run at her and be like "Sky's here! Sky's here!" and follow her around like a puppy whenever she was in the classroom. I also remember getting kid-crushes on some of the eighth grade girls who would come help with our knitting in second grade (I went to a K-8 school at the time). Is it any surprise that I turned out to be gay?

6:00 No. Bullying someone for being gay means you have homophobic views and prejudices, not that you're automatically queer. That's such a bad take and it only enables homophobes into not taking accountability, and makes the community responsible for "hurting each other".

did not went to a catholic/religious specific school. But my country is overall very religious, so we have religion classes from first grade to last year of highschool....and i had nice teachers some really crazy teachers...in high school, i had this one cool teacher he was a pastor, he was joking with us, put us movies and answered our questions and he was open to talk about anything from moral dilemmas to demonic possessions. But the breaking point was homosexuality. He literally compared gay people displaying public affection to someone forcefully coming into his house and taking a shit in his living room. and the whole class revolted. He basicaly said he cant accept when their freedom is infringing on his freedom, of not seeing same sex relationships publicly

Im an Atheist but im glad u mentioned that not all religious people are homophobes etc. Within less religious spaces a lot of the time there is the idea that religious people are 'dumb and hateful' But that just pisses me off. Like its literally generalising a whole group of people in a shitty way... why? There are def things we need to tackle within religious spaces but the people who are fighting loudest for those changes are often religous themselves and have a far more intimate knowledge and experience to speak on that stuff.

On day 1 of high school, not really having met any of the other students, a girl went after me with ethnic hatred right after the teacher read the roll. She immediately demanded to know my ethnicy and thus my religion. She also disputed the neutral answer I gave. She turned out to be Catholic and I am not. My legal first name is common to either group in that part of the world. She also turned out to be a lesbian, I found out much later on. I think today that she was overdoing the ethnic hatred because she dreaded the day she would have to tell her father and mother why she wasn't making ethnically pure babies. She was playing the dutiful daughter in the meantime, to chalk up brownie points. Otherwise, I can't imagine why someone of my age would be so supportive of a WW2 Nazi era regime. We avoided each other for the remainder of school.

In the girls changing room, my gym teacher said we were not allowed to change in the stalls or else we would get in trouble. We also had assigned lockers so we had to change by our lockers luckily mine was by the wall and I could face the wall. She would also know if we left the changing room because she had an office inside the changing room with a BIG window. She was either doing work or looking at us to make sure we weren't getting into trouble. 😑

I have no proof so I can't say for sure, but I'm fairly certain that my old English teacher was homophobic and the only evidence I have of this is three things: - He immediately decided that he didn't like me and I assume its because I was the most tomboyish girl in the class - He said that "Lesbian" was a derogatory term???? - He just had that vibe He was never outwardly homophobic, but that could be because he could've easily been fired for that so I can never tell for sure if he was actually homophobic or if he was just old (He was the oldest teacher at the school)

Hi!! I know that technically I probably should have said this before the video was uploaded but here’s my story :) I’m ten and on Friday I’m going to start at this catholic school (grades pre k-8th) with super strict uniforms, also every Thursday all 400 kids in the school attend mandatory mass at the church next door. I’m non-binary and lesbian and I’ve already met all of the teachers and they are all transphobic and homophobic, I’m AFAB so I have to wear the girls uniform... and change in the same room as all of the tall girls after volleyball practice... anyways that’s my story so far, wish me luck? P.S. I came out to my school and family as non-binary and that is the reason that I am going there... P.P.S. I’m 5’4” and taller than most of the teachers :) this should be fun... *Anxiety*
