You mentioned who’s teaching these young men? EACH OTHER! They are teaching each other. Men ridicule each other if they don’t conform to what’s deemed cool. Even when they know right from wrong, it’s something about that taunt from another man that will have men crash out every time.
Maybe it's time we redefine what Men are then. I often differentiate what we call an actual Man versus males of a legal age because there is a difference between aging and maturing. I agree with social pressures and conformities being at play, But we also have a wide range of a successful people to emulate as well. I don't know how and where but a recalibration of our moral compasses and values may help not only this particular demographic but many areas across humanity. Thanks for your support through a great point and contribution.
@@vincentalfonzojamalabsolutely! A recalibration globally. Male and female because some where along the road we lost our way drastically. I hate that we hate each other so much. I remember when I was young I used to think black men where the closest thing to God and that’s why they had so much strife in the world. Slowly but surely through heartbreak, disappointment and betrayal I unfortunately do not feel that way anymore and it’s sad.
Most of us brothers that was out here getting their hustle on owe these young brothers, a lot of these rappers owes these young brothers something, if all of us keep acting like their not our problem then we are still lost and laziness that was taught to us by a bunch of well dress pimps and drug dealers, that still owes us, but some where we have to do better because rigjt now were losing badly, politically educationally emotionally psychologically and financially so far behibd, and if we all dont lend a hand then we all will suffer for the life and deaths of these young men...smh for those who choose to tun the other cheek and act like it dont have nothing to do with them
Real talk! There's a lot of people who owe for or many of the lies they told. Unfortunately, They are owed too because they were told lies. It's time to be above not being cool, The square, Sell out, Or weirdo.... Learn not only about generational wealth but more importantly generational health across all of those spectrums you mentioned. Keep talking that talk because we need it. And while there are many systemic hurdles in our way, It doesn't mean we stop running the race. Thanks for dropping your thoughts on the channel!
I’m all for our youth and community doing better but I think it’s so unfair to acknowledge the fact that we need to do better while never addressing white supremacy, oppression, mass incarceration and mass death. It’s also unfair to show images of ancestors that existed before the crack epidemic and other road blocks that were purposely set before us. We are the children of those two ancestors it’s what happened after this photo that makes it impossible to compare the two.- LaTaisha Nicole
Great insight and share thought! Nothing I disagree with and are topics I've covered before in regards to systemic oppression and many of the other examples you offered. This is a solid contribution and the kind of commentary I hope for and am grateful to have in the comments To spark more conversation.
I guess cause I'm old, I can't understand why anyone would think that look is cool. Back in the day, boys wearing too big hand me down pants was a source of jokes. Lowering your pants in prison was a sign of willingness to play. I blame some of those rappers and their AGENTS for popularizing and pushing this look at kids wanting to look like their idols.
Thank you for your time and thoughts. Every demographic has it to some degree. Young italians dressed to idolize their murderous idols in organized crime. And that was said to be a more respectable look, but what of the actions? We saw punk rock with big mohawks and leather, Young kids emulating their idols in motorcycle gangs as hate groups. It's really nothing new across-the-board as of the last 100 years... None of the looks are cool when associated with crime. And an overall degeneration of society. Pantsagging in prison has somewhat of a different origin than just homosexuality. Incoming prisoners would be stripped of their belts and shoelaces to prevent harm to themselves or others. Government and state clothing was also not custom made to fit each individual prisoner. Homosexuality potentially exists across all ethnicities and demographics in prison, but the sagging of pants does not. I'd say the best lesson. We can teach people as far as dressing better is just through proper representation rather than weaponizing homosexuality as a threat to their image.
@@vincentalfonzojamal Thank you for the clarification on the prison thing. No offense was intended which is why I worded the way I did. I guess of all the idolized costuming kids have been doing over the years, to me, this is the saddest, but it is what it is and perhaps in time, we will all work together with understanding. Blessings.
