In my opinion. Memiors is her best album period. It’s sonically perfect, completely cohesive, the story it tells is gorgeous, the writing is impeccable, the production is perfect. It’s just a 10/10

This is one of her most underrated collections. I could listen to this whole album from start to finish with no skips and would be very satisfied with how I spent my time.

My favorite thing about Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is how clever her lyrics are in these songs. I also loved how you brought up Mariah’s sense of humor. I think she’s so funny yet the general public takes her so seriously for no reason. Also, it is criminal that the HATEU remix was never released. That’s my favorite remix that would have come from the Angels Advocate album.

I've watched all your Mariah albums reactions (and Christina's) and I absolutely love them. As an old fan of Mariah, that makes me feel like I'm re-discovering them and that makes me proud to be a Lamb to see someone of a yonger generation appreciating her artistry. I wanted to comment on this one because "Memoirs" is my second favorite album of hers (and the only reason it's not the first is because "Butterfly" is untouchable in my mind). The beauty of her breathy voice, the strenght of her lyrics. I think it's her most underrated album. It deserved a lot more than it did and it's a shame people started to disregard her at that time (cause the following albums are really good too but I'll let you be the judge of that). It's titled "memoirs" for a specific reason. Mariah wanted a creative concept album approaching 20 years into the industry. Each song represents a section of her life. So, if she makes a reference to a person, understand, she's not just talking about ONE person - it's multiple who fit into this category. Each song was made to sound like a diary entry where they have enough in common to blend together but different enough to stand out individually. If a diary was an album.

I love the harmonies in Ribbon. That’s my favorite song in this album. Though most of the songs here are gems as well like It’s a Wrap.

Highly recommended listening to the unreleased song “Imperfect” that didn’t make it to this album but inspired the title of the album.

Angels Cry the solo version (in this album) was not released as a single. However, the duet version with Neyo was. That's supposed to be part of the shelved Memoirs Remixes album along with Up Out my Face with Nicki, Becha 'Gon Know with R.Kelly, It's a Wrap with Mary J. Blige, remixes for H.A.T.E. U. --I hope you also include the bonus tracks in Chanteuse Album. Some of these tracks were added as bonus tracks there. 3. I Want To Know What Love Is a remake. ❤

More than just friends is a banger that needs several listens to kick in its greatness. Memoirs is such an understated but incredibly solid album and I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. I didn't realize how good it was on first listen, but now I put it on the same tier as Charmbracelet just below the best of the best.

I love them all!! And The Angels prelude whistles are sooo beautiful and soulful, I feel a perfect intro into the emotional Angels Cry. 🤍

I know you'll enjoy this album! This is one of her most cohesive albums. This, along with Daydream, Emotions and Butterfly, are the albums that i listen to the most. Also, i prefer this album to The Emancipation Of Mimi. I just love the chill, laidback vibe of this album. It just feels very personal and mature. The lyrics are fun and smart, too. The Emancipation Of Mimi is an amazing album. Definitely a top 5 in her discography. But Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is something else. While Butterfly still holds the top spot on my list, i have a hard time to choose which album that i like better between this, Daydream and Emotions.

Those are the 2 albums I have been listening (emotionally in a weird place now, it is what it is haha) in rotation. So many amazing songs, that I just can't believe we did not get not even 1 at number one...how is that possible?? I love the fact you noticed Mariah's humor, and this album, is the one in which she showed it the most in her writing. Can we acknowledge the depth of "Angels cry"? This album is timeless. Some tracks are hit again in tiktok even they're launched more than a decade. I still remember when the album released and some people, I might call them haters, they destroyed CD in many ways like throwing on road and drove a car upon it. I personally cannot listen to this album coz it brought me sad memories then especially hateu.

Ahhh Memoirs ✨✨💖🎶🥰🥰 ✨✨✨ . 1st off the album artwork inside is composed of her past Album Covers but she reshot them for this album. During his time she had been collaborating with The Dream for a few projects (including his track, My Love, also has a M.V.) Now the reason why there weren't any features on this album was because she and her team had thought ahead and created a Remix Album to those one titled, Angel's Advocate(which the label decided to not release) . With fts from, MJ Blige, Ludacris, R Kelly (before his drama) and many other. HATE U has a Killer Remix that samples Quad City DJs classic, My Boo. Also The Impossible samples Forever My Lady (by 90s R&B Group Jodeci)

Track 1 (and some other tracks) should've been release as single. A great album. And this was the start of people sleeping on any new album from Mariah. No matter how great the songs were :( people missing on great songs.

I completely agree with you. I personally think it is one of her best albums! And many critics at the time felt it should be up there as one of her best albums. Unfortunately, I think many lambs wanted more purely pop tracks on this album and Hip-Hop/R&B is clearly the dominating sound sonically throughout this album; with the exception of the ending tracks of course. The writing and production across this album is soooooo good and I just think fans and her label kind of let her down with this one after its release.

Interestingly, people weren’t into obsessed as much back then. It was new for Mariah to use autotune in that way, which people didn’t like… then. Now everyone loves it. Mariah is always ahead of her time.

she made a whole remix EP with this album and it's called "Angels Advocate" but never got released. The only tracks that were released officially were Angels Cry (feat. Ne-Yo), Obsessed (feat. Gucci Mane), and Up Out My Face (feat. Nicki Minaj) while It's A Wrap (feat. Mary Blije) & Betcha Gon Know (feat. R.Kelly) were later on released on 2014 as a deluxe track for Elusive album. There's still remixes from that EP that never got released like collabs with Candy Bling (I Remember (feat. T-Pain), Inseparable (feat.Trey Songz), HATEU (feat. Big Boi), Ribbon (feat. Ludacris), and the unreleased track "Imperfect"

People will disagree with me but I think Memoirs is Mariah's BEST R&B album, followed by Caution, then Butterfly and lastly Me. I am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse (yes, in THAT order). Butterfly is her opus magnum (her newly initiated self if you will) but Memoirs is R&B PERFECTION!!!!!!!! Please listen to the Angels Cry remix with Neyo. When the two of them layer their vocals TOGETHER - it's simply magic! Mariah's version of "I Want To Know What Love Is" is beautiful but the original still stands the test of time. Listen to the Dance remixes of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and they are simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is by far her oddest album and eras ever nothing really synchs… from the music to messy rollout to the artwork direction but musically it works but i tend to think this album was overly produced with the same sound over and over which for me is good and bad. I have a love / not love for this album but i can’t not love it lmao the only song i would axe is THE IMPOSSIBLE😝😝😝😝
