To me, keeping it broad, the guy on the horse represents depression, trying to draw Tyler back in. Tyler’s friends are at the top of the trench (album title) trying to help. Yellow represents hope (tape on the jacket), the flowers dropped by the friends disrupt the trance Tyler was put under enough for him to try and get away, but falls and is drawn back in again. The next two songs in the trilogy (Nico and the Niners, Levitate) build on this. There is a whole lore around this, so much detail and depth.

The beat at the end of this is the beginning to their song Levitate. This was a part of a trilogy of songs.

So you know this is the first part of the trilogy right? Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners, then Levitate. This is a story about Blurryface, the banditos, and his insecurities. The black is his insecurities. like NF with the balloons. btw...NF is big fan of TOP. you need to do WAY MORE Twenty One Pilots. Live performance of Holding On To You, Trees, Chlorine...etc

I really love this song! You are right about how hard it is sometimes to understand the exact meaning. This song is a part of a trilogy and a narrative that threads through the Trench album. In an interview, Tyler explained that the jumpsuit is the concept of something that provides you cover and protection when you are feeling exposed. It is both a cry for help (cover me) and admitting you are not enough. The hends and neck line, I interpret as- they will have to destroy Tyler's ability to create to get him to surrender to the depression and overall mental difficulties.

Basically the "tie me down and the rip off my hands" and the "grab my throat and lift me in the air" are metaphors for the black paint on his hands and neck, and the black paint means blurryface (the guy in the red) basically has control over him, and when all the ppl at the top start to throw yellow flowers, then he starts to break free and run from blurry face (real name is nico) and the reason for this is because the color yellow dampens the bishops (all the ppl in the red robes, nico is the leader) power.

I interpret those “I’ll be right there…” lyrics in the context of a few of their other songs like Ride and House of Gold. The common thread being that it’s one thing to say I’ll be right there or I’d take a bullet for you, or I will make you queen of everything, and it’s a very different thing to actually make another person’s life and happiness a priority above your own agenda.

We do know the meaning of the lyrics and videos for the Jumpsuit-Nico and the Niners-Levitate trilogy of songs because the band has provided a whole, incredibly detailed lore about the alternative universe in which the songs are set and the story is being told. There are different characters, locations, details such as maps and letters and documents. so much world buildings has gone into it. The place even has it's own religion. The story being told continues into the most recent album and will be concluded on the album they are currently wotking on. So, to explain what this video and the lyrics mean is beyond the scope of a youtube commnet but if you are interested you can search youtube for 'Trench lore' and you will find lots of videos that summarise it.

Tyler Joseph is my favorite artist. The man’s creativity and genius just keep me coming back for more. And he’s so genuine and good to his fans. He’s my male version of Taylor Swift. 😂. He writes everything. I will pacify myself with being a swiftie while Tyler creates the final album of this storyline. I cannot wait. 😮 and yes…when he says you’ll have tie me down and then break both my hands…I think he’s referring to stopping his ability to write and sing. I absolutely love their songs that are so bass heavy like this one.

When he talks about lifting his neck and tieing him down to break his hands meaning theyll have to take away his ability to make music (voice and writing) - the whole album has a storyline behind it and everything is basically a double meaning

It's depression, unable to do anything. Has work thru ot to move. Josh (drummer) on top of hill, and friends throwing Tyler hope( yellow flowers)! Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) was fan of Heavy Dirty Soul. Actually on RU-vid singing it...
