@@maryanne1830 The Sims 4 bec. the base game became free in October but honeslty, I'm lucky I like to build bec. EVERY SINGLE LOT (be it commercial and residential) is ugly as f*ck. 🙃
I generally enjoyed Bloodmarked, but I was a little bit disappointed by it. I think it definitely suffered from like middle book syndrome - too much and not enough was happening plot wise and I think a good chunk of this book didn’t really serve to further the plot imo.
My daughters and I listened to the first two books in Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries on our holiday drives and loved them. It’s a past due recommendation, but so appreciated. Woo!
I've found that all of Simone St. James' books follow the same thread, like missing girl, dual timelines, and ghosts. Which is fine if that's what you like but reading too many all at once gets very repetitive and boring lol
@@mynameismarines So many things made me mad including that part. The back and forth snipping at each other she and Sel were doing, the random things thrown in for worldbuilding info dump that weren't expanded on(like if Sel is half incubus he would need to be having a lot of sex to keep his demon side at bay), taking non Black people into Black safe spaces just because Bree trusts them, the way Vera was defined only by her sexual assault, the way Bree only tried to communicate with the rest of her ancestors to quickly to find someone who knew root and then got made none of them actually did, the excessive mentions of her natural hair.
Listening to audiobooks while playing The Sims is the best, I can play for hourssss so I finished a lot books this way in December 😅 one of them was The Book of Cold Cases, and I agree, solid 3 stars. If you’re in a thriller mood, I just finished one that I gave 4.5 stars, Blood Sugar, it’s set in Miami so some Florida rep for you, but also it has the best therapy/mental health representation I have ever read, the main character is super smart (and a psychologist) and her relationships with other people are really interesting. Basically, she killed a bunch of people when she was younger, but she is now being accused of a murder she didn’t commit. Its really good. I’m on my 99th book, so my goal of 100 books this year is probably going to be achieved! 🎉 good luck with your goal!
Same on playing Sims for hours 😅 and Blood Sugar Al sounds great! Thank you for the rec. onto the TBR it goes. Happy new year and congrats on reaching your goal! ❤️
They way you feel about Kate Daniels is the way I feel about the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs (and tbh the Sookie Stackhouse series too.) Because of this video I'll continue reading Kate Daniels (I only read books 1 and 2 many years ago) so thanks ♡
Always love your updates, even when I know nothing about the books you're talking about. In Italy, we also have the big celebration and gift exchange on the 24th evening. I hope you had a pleasant time with your loved ones.
ik u get a lot of recommendations, i would love ur take on the poppy war by kuang. i feel like u would give such a nuanced review bc that book is a lot
i recently read Thistlefoot, and LOVED it! take your time with it. it covers some heavy stuff, but i think it constructs its narrative very well. it gets kind of literary and non linear (which i love), but i know that's not for everyone
I say this as someone who loved Bloodmarked, but you weren't imagining the overly long and repetitive part. It absolutely was, especially in that middle bit. I still gave it 5 stars bc I am trash for enemies to friends to whatever that was at the end, but yeah, not a perfect book by any means.
Lol. Yes, so much of Bloodmarked could have not happened if Bree and Sel had sat down and had an actual conversation w the willingness to compromise. Like, I would do exactly what Bree did bc while Sel was trying to protect, he was also removing her agency. Nobody is gonna be happy in that situation and I dunno how I'd navigate that situation as an adult, let alone a teen, so I can't fault them but they definitely could have been more mature.
I LOVE Jason Reynolds, so glad you loved the graphic novel! I haven't read that adaptation but the original novel in verse is fantastic as well I'm a fan of enemies to lovers when it's handled well and I also don't like the 'why are you guys even enemies in the first place' thing !! so frustrating CONGRATS on finishing Kate Daniels!!
Legendborn was probably my favorite book of 2020 and I was SO EXCITED for Bloodmarked…. it took me so long to finish it because I was so bored. The cycle of Bree getting hurt, Sel saving her, William healing her… like????? I literally cried during the climax of the first book because of how amazing it was during my REREAD. I hope the next book gets back to what was so amazing in the first.
