Congrats on setting what sound to me like achievable goals. I haven’t yet set any 2024 goals but thankfully, the year is just beginning. As for suggestions, here you go… WESTERNS: 1. “True Grit” by Charles Portis (published 1968). 2. “Lonesome Dove” by Larry McMurtry (published 1985). HORROR: 1. “Interview with the Vampire” by Anne Rice (published 1976). 2. “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (published 1892). I’m recommending the Gilman book not just because it’s a classic but because it’s only about 60 pages long so you can whip through it and go on to your next read in no time at all.

Thanks, MJ! Excellent recommendations! I promise to read one of your suggestions for a fiction genre. Unfortunately, I've read "The Yellow Wallpaper!" I enjoyed it, though. Happy New Year to you!

A thriller recommendation from someone who prefers classics and nonfiction. Freida McFadden’s, ‘One by One’ and ‘Never Lie’. Although I have never been a fan of mysteries or thrillers, I read these books at my daughter’s request and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I plan to listen to a few more of McFadden’s works while traveling on our next summer trip.

Thanks so much! I haven't read four of those and I promise to pick one of them for a fiction choice! Happy New Year!

Funny enough, I was just about to recommend "The Blue Castle" when I saw that Adrienne has suggested it. I was going to suggest it for the "Romance" category.@@booktalkingwithlibrarylin1924

Middle grade: The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill is a great book but not 30 yrs old. If so, I would add _Holes_ by Sachar.

I've read Holes and really enjoyed it! I love Louis Sachar's books for elementary school kids, too! 😃@@kurtfox4944
