Lin, I can't help but feel like we've grown up together here on BookTube. I'm so sorry to see you go but can completely identify with several of your reasons. It's so true that even one video a week can take up a lot of time and even more headspace. Lin, you just did something no BookTuber has ever done before. You made me well up, and cry! 😢 I have so many mingled emotions and thoughts right now. First, I’m sad that you’re leaving. But I feel in my heart that we haven’t seen the last of you. And certainly we will hear from you on the page. Second, I’m happy for you that you made the tough decision to prioritize your writing and reading. Would that the algorithms allowed you to be successful with one video and a book or two per month . . .but alas , frequent content and photos of monolithic stacks of books are the impossible trend. It does get unrealistic. At the same time, your vlogs have been intelligent, interesting, informative, and with a welcome touch of sarcasm and humor. 😊 Lastly, I am glad to have met you and shared this space with you and totally agree- I feel like we are distant but fast friends from different childhoods (if that even makes sense!🤣) I appreciate your mentioning my little channel and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it. If we had grown up together we definitely would have shared the books we read and would have done crafts together. ❤ I can’t wait to read your debut novel and I see you as an inspiration. Oh it's a pity to watch this video Lin but you know, I cannot fault your thinking here at all. I wish you all the best with your writing endeavours and yes, I agree that making videos is a time suck and better spent doing what you want to do that supports your new interests. I love how you have now got a path ahead to do what you want and devoting more time to. It's a pragmatic and logical approach........but.....we will MISS YOU!!!! Watching this, you also reflected EXACTLY the same questions I had been having about my own channel and WHY I was doing what I was doing with my own channel. I want to explore more writing but I've had a realisation in the last couple of months (which I feel guilty about) and that is, I like making videos more so than fiction writing. If push comes to shove, I'll take out my camera first rather than opening up a page on the screen to type out a short story. This was an eye-opener when I thought about this because at the same time, I also feel compelled to write. This then made me think about my intention of my own channel. WHY exactly am I sharing Life Lessons from Books? I've come to the conclusion that I simply like the community of how books offer life lessons for us and the discussion that comes from them. I also love to read and read heaps of books. However, I haven't come to terms about writing. I feel guilty that I'm not devoting more time to that too. I've given myself more time to ponder it and see what I naturally fall into - and prefer giving up my time to. Thank you for all your videos. I loved them all and wish you all the best with your fiction writing. Thank you also for your kind recommendation. All the best and good luck with reading that HUGE book!!

He spends several pages describing travel through Manchuria in a mule litter. It's quite entertaining!
