Butcher & Blackbird was a good fun time until they start having sex. After that, that's the only thing that happens. Don't get me started on that spitting scene. I gagged, in a terrible way. That scene with the guy in the barn and the skeleton was hilarious. I think a serial killer competition book is a really fun idea, but the romance kinda dragged it down. This plot without sex or romance would be a banger

Your excitement for to first 70% of butcher and blackbirds makes me want at least give it a try. If anything with how I skim sex scenes the last 30% will go by fast if I ever get around to reading it. 😅🍍

You have had the worst luck with books lately. 😅 I really wanted to love How High We Go In The Dark, but I didn’t like it, either! The pig chapter made me bawl, but in a BAD way; it was so upsetting. I also was like, are there no queer people whatsoever in this world? It seemed like so many of the characters were very similar, and fell into very similar demographics. I liked the idea explored in the very end of the book, but NOT enough to read all those other stories! I feel like this doesn’t mean you don’t like science fiction; I don’t think most science fiction is like this. I would call it speculative, or maybe even magical realism or fantasy considering where it ended up.

Saraaaaa you need to read Any Man!! especially the audiobook - legit one of the best audiobooks i've ever listened to. but dang, i'm just gonna pretend you didnt read HHWGITD lololol one of my favorite books of the year.

Don’t let how high we go in the dark ruin sci fi for you! It’s just bad 😂 I liked the pig story and the other two at the beginning, but the rest were so boring. And then the ending completely ruined it for me. I don’t wanna spoil anything, but I felt like it took away the humanity. I gave it 2 stars.

If you are thinking about reading Shark Heart, it is a super short audiobook with three different narrators so it would at least be a fast read! There are also no mentions of…fluids.

Read shark heart!! I was not sure going into it but it is hands down the best book I have read this year. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!
