He wanted to find the solution first so that when he contacted NASA, he could say “hey, I made a mistake, but I also figured out how to fix it” as opposed to just calling them and saying “hey, I screwed up”. That’s why Howard was attempting to troubleshoot the problem first.

I believe this episode was a nod to the movie Apollo13. Specifically the part where they had to invent new CO2 scrubbers. They even used the exact line from the movie.

Howard getting access to stuff he is not supposed to is a running joke through out the series. Loved hearing the facts though. Please do more of these.

A. It's not a real toilet, it's a replica for engineers to work on, he is safe. B. The reason Howard can't take his friends and fix it in lab is probably because he don't want to get caught, anyone can come into the lab( specifically NASA)

I love all of these vids and I can't believe I'm just watching them! Btw throughout the whole show Howard has a rep of using equipment without permission, even being quoted "Million dollar camera. Ten dollar lock" when he took a camera "same type of the mars rover" to spy on Sheldon :-P

He said that Howard's career is hanging in the balance. You interpreted that as "being fired". That isn't necessarily what he meant. Could mean his reputation or credibility might be stained. Or maybe he will no longer be the lead designer. Nevertheless, the extreme case is not the only one. However he could be arrested for bringing the prototype home.

Just something that you missed they didnt actually take it home they brought a replica to test what would actually work on it when hes in the lab because he dosent want to get embarrassed about failing on the toilet.. everything else was great tho i loved the vids and you should do more of big bang theory!
