Bangkok is a feast of Supernatrual activity. This isn't your usual horror story about scams or being overcharged, these are spook encounters, ghost stories and ghost sightings all caught on video Join me and Bruce as we tackle ghouls, spirits, poltergeists and spectres in Bangkok's most famous neighbourhoods Nana, Sukhumvit, Pratunam, with some poltergeist activity in Ratchayothin. We'll also discuss a few famous horror filmsas well as tell you how cats can oust evil spirits. Don't have nightmares, don't take it too seriously and if in doubt, take it with a huge pinch of salt!

The best horror film to come out of Thailand is “The Shutter”. People in the West are missing out on great Asian horrors like The Wailing, Satan’s Slaves, The Call, Train to Busan, Audition, Impetigore, I saw the Devil, Phobia 1 &2 and the list goes on.

This is a great little video. There're so many ghost stories and bits of folklore around Bangkok that you could keep this going for years. But I love the humour of this episode. A touch of Scooby Doo in those strange shadowy figures. And Thai horror movies often have a touch of the Scooby Doo about them. If you want a great Bangkok set horror movie you can do no better than the film "Buppha Rahtree" which takes its horror and tragedy seriously but switches with ease to comedy and then back to horror again.

I got to talking to some young Thai art students once in a Bangkok shopping centre, they had some paintings on display. Somehow we got to talking about ghosts and the supernatural. They looked at each and one went to storage and took out a painting to show me, at first I wanted to buy it but after looking at it more,I decided it was not for me . They grinned at each other and put it back in the case.

Great video as always, Pat. Appreciate all you do. not sure where you were referring to when you were talking about a “Serpent” filming location (maybe in Sub soi Sama Han? but back in 2017 or 2018/19 ?? The cast and crew were staying in the new wing of NanaTai Suites at the end of Suk Soi 4…. Plenty of production and catering trucks around as they were doing some filming inside the Hydon or Baan Bellawan old style apartments… I asked the Thai AD if they needed any extras, “no thank you” 555. Remembering in my childhood when some one told a friend and that if you want to meet the spirits of the dead. Stand in front of the bathroom mirror with all the lights off , acandle in one hand and a bible in the other for protection. Stare at your own face and imagine a dead person. We did it and never did it again it scared the shit out of as we swear our own faces changed. Try that in the spooky room at Nana. I dare you.!!!!

I got my Thai wife to translate the T Shirt - "Hey girl I am single, my name is Bruce" Funnily enough we had a strange experience in the Ambassador Hotel Bangkok before we got married so it must have been about 2003. She swears blind that a Western Man with white hair appeared beside her and asked her to get out of his bed!. I also had an experience in a hotel room in Pattaya - the lights kept coming on in the middle of the night. It was one of those where you have a control panel by the side of your bed, so I just thought it was an electrical fault (we all know what Thai electrics are like sometimes!). However on the third night I woke up really hot and the air conditioning had been switched off at the wall. I asked to change rooms after that. Pretty spooky really.

My own father died last year and now he is added to the food offering so his spirit wont haunt us. Back in Thailand my niece who lives in the family home wont sleep alone because she is convinced her grand father wanders the house at night. So my wifes father doesnt mind crossing continents . Any way I dont make fun here as this is something my wife truelly believes in . I am not convinced either way. Incidentally, anthropologists in the middle east associate belief in jinn with "aquatic societies": Over there on the other side of Asia, stories of appearances are closely associated with riversides and streams and proximity to water wells. The spooky thing about the Mediterranean coast and the Lebanon mountains is that unlike the tropical climate of Thailand, the rain and the heat and the vegetation growth do not erase old structures (no forests engulfing abandoned temples) and back in the middle ages and even before building was done with heavy stone, so you still have citadels standing from the times of the crusaders and old churches and old houses and water wells from times immemorial.
