The new Netflix drama 'Baby Reindeer' is the talk of the Internet. And now, the alleged real-life stalker who inspired the character Martha is speaking out. An unnamed woman, who claims to be the inspiration behind actress Jessica Gunning's character Martha in the popular series, told the Daily Mail she was considering legal action for defamation following the release of the project. 'Baby Reindeer,' created by and starring Richard Gadd, is billed as a true story inspired by events that happened in Gadd's life.

I’ll have to go back to my search history on my desktop, I’ve been looking on my phone. In the article he also talks about how they were both wrong and he doesn’t hate her or feel animosity.

That show was frightening and vulnerable and honest. It also showed compassion for "Martha". But, if she continues this insanity, people will forget to have empathy toward her.

It differs with every jurisdiction, in California the burden of proof is on the prosecution so you have to be able to prove you were afraid for stalking to be proven in court and that’s hard to do.

I liked this show. I felt like she was a little sympathetic - the way Annie Wilkes from Misery was sympathetic. Clearly dealing with mental illness - should probably have been hospitalized and treated.

This show was hilarious and eye opening at the same time - this stalker chick has no legal grounds - as she will find out soon enough that HE IS ALLOWED to share his experience with the world … it happened to him and she was the aggressor - not a victim. That’s what stalkers do, they pose themselves as victims when they are so far from it - I highly suggest we find out who the real culprit is so the world can STAY AWAY FROM HER ! We have a right to be informed when someone who is violent and dangerous like this is out in public … the whole world should be allowed to protect themselves from a crazy stalker like this

The problem I think is when Richard himself said in interviews that he added stuff to the story that didn’t happen IRL, saying he purposefully changed stuff to hide her identity , but then also said he added stuff into the movie that didn’t happen.. but I don’t see how that’s defamation, given the fact he never said her real name in the movie, & she did go to jail for her crimes

He says he was, he admitted he made a ton of mistakes. He was also very broken himself. The scary part is that he literally offered her tea on the house and that's all she needed. He just made a nice gesture to someone sad and she saw it as this huge thing and imagined an entire relationship from that point on. I love true crime and stalkers are friggin scary bc it can start from the smallest interactions.
