Stay strong sweetheart. I know it's almost been two years for me. It does suck. They don't put in account that to get ssi you cannot work. And to not be able to work it makes it hard to survive. I hope you have family that can help guide you. Through the process. Many have to have that. You should of been approved. It makes me mad, seriously mad. At the system..
Its been 2 yrs 7months since i filed. I finally got my hearing date which is another 3 months. My ex wife took pity on me and keeps me from living in my truck. I am grateful for the foodstamps i receive, its the only income i have. I feel for you and you are not alone. I am terrified of losing my case. If i do my life is over.
I really hope you have a good lawyer or advocate, please, I strongly recommend you get one pronto before your hearing if you don't. They work for a portion of the benefits so you don't have to pay and can make the difference between a win and a not, and listen to your advocate/lawyer (my cardinal mistake was letting my therapist trigger my paranoia and not listening to my advocate's pleas at the last minute for some key evidence out of terror). I can relate to the terror of losing the case, and I remember feeling like if I did that was my last option for life. I really really really hope with all my heart you make it and I really hope you get someone on your team, the more people you have who know the process and are invested in you winning the better! I am glad your ex-wife took pity on you. I don't know if that would complicate a possible claim of 'Dire Need' if (and I don't want to jinx it it, but just in case!) you have to appeal an unfavorable decision by stating you are homeless -- living with someone else if you're still having to pay all your own bills still means you're homeless, but sometimes the legality can be tricky and this is another situation where a lawyer might be able to advise you. But again, I really hope you win your case. My heart goes out to you.
Dephinia Vlogs I have a good lawyer, or as good as I can get. just received my hearing date. According to the website, the judge I was assigned has 67% of cases approved. if I don't win, I have no idea what I will do. all I can do is remain positive and upbeat.
I have been on disability for 2.5 years in a row in Finland and my application for a 6 month extension just got turned down. Society is run as a disability denial factory to save money. I have been in your situation since 2011 and my best advice is to never give up and have an activity or a hobby which helps to forget this sad predicament even for a few minutes.
I feel your pain and frustration. There are way too many greedy people fighting against people like us who are disabled. It does more harm to society to force disabled people to try work than it does to take care of them. Especially when most disabled people that I know are very compassionate and just want to benefit their communities in the form of charity work of one form or another.

Sorry Kassi. Stay strong, like I know you are. I hear most are denied the first time, even those obviously disabled. It seems to be the normal process to have to appeal. One more step...
OH SWEETIE....DO I KNOW THE FEELING. I FINALLY GOT APPROVED TODAY!!!! AFTER 4 YEARS....AND 4 MONTHS!! I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE MY DAD AND HE SAID I WAS MORE THAN WELCOME TO STAY AT HIS HOUSE BUT WITHOUT HIM...LORD KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO WORK OR ANYTHING FOR A YEAR WHERE I AM FROM, AND I HAD THE HARDEST JUDGE ON THE PANEL, BUT LUCKILY THE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON THAT HE RESENT ME TOO...SAID HOW BAD MY BACK AND LEGS WERE....NOT TO MENTION ALL OF THE OTHER STUFF THAT IS WRONG WITH ME. My lawyer's assistant called me a few moments ago to let me know that unfortunately the firm does not handle that type of decision and that a letter was mailed to me with this information. I've also been in bed "literally" including today trying to sleep away a Level 10 MIGRAINE, but of course if I had a job I'd be in the process of termination because I would've used all 5 sick days at one time. Guessing it's time for me to take action on my own. If it's not too much trouble could someone whose familiar with what I'm getting ready to have to do please write down in steps how to start. 1. I want you to open your mind and go out on a limb.......reach for Jesus. I know, I'm sorry. Don't want to bible thump you. I am disabled too and fighting for ssdi. I am losing everything including wife. All I have is JESUS. I don't worry and I leave it in his hands. Visualize every day where you want to be.
I am as proud of and attached to with all my heart and soul and being my atheism, though you may not believe it (as I may not believe your attachment to your beliefs). I respect your respectful approach. I am glad your beliefs bring you comfort and solace. One last thing though -- I didn't ask for this, so this is technically unsolicited advice/proselytizing no matter how uncomfortable that label may feel, and rubs me quite badly the wrong way. What brings you comfort is fine; and please don't push it on me. I reach for what comforts me, and I expect respect for that as I respect your right to reach for what comforts you. At the same time, regardless of my beliefs, I deserve and need a place to speak out as an activist, as someone who is disabled, who is suffering. That can be uncomfortable for others to hear. There are real things that real live people need to do to change things to make life sustainable for me. Sitting quietly and praying for justice does not make things better as I know from a lifetime being raised in quasi-religious cult that included Jesus, and well-behaved women don't make history. What brings me solace and help is speaking out, finding and connecting with others who believe me, respect my choices and truth, and truly support me in tangible ways. That furthers my cause. I will never take away what someone else needs to support them as long as it hurts no one else, so if Jesus helps you, go for it. What I need is to speak out and take action at long last, and find knowledgeable allies who can help me with those tangible things. We each have our paths and I hope we go for it with all our hearts.

I've been turned down, already appealed twice, finally got to my hearing on December 8, 2016. Today I received a packet from Social Security with their decision : Last day of work 07/26/2013 - 03/13/2017 THEIR DECISION....UNFAVORABLE, WTH DOES THAT EVEN MEAN 😠😠😠
Oh no! That sucks so much. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'll tell you what a friend told me -- there are others who have gotten denied at the hearing level, appealed and won the appeal, so it's worth it to appeal even if it feels like chances are slim and hope has been sucked into a black hole. The community support team member who helped me initially file told me, "Don't rule yourself out, apply for everything even if you think you'll be turned down." I hope you have people/things/support systems to help you through.
that means based on your last day of work you are insured until 3/2017.. so as long as the state or a judge finds you disabled before 3/2017 you will get a payment
Kayse Modlin you need to appeal ASAP or you will never get Social Security disability based upon your work....you would only be able to get Supplemental Security Income based on low income
I'm not really sure where to go from here because I called my lawyer and her not know what to call her said that your lawyer has an email and will contact you when she gets a chance to just sit and wait. I don't know who else to contact or who else can help me and I'm afraid that the three years of work and what's happening to me is getting worse and I'm just going to lose it and just walked head-on into traffic because I can't take this anymore. I called you talk to Brittany who was my person who has dealt with me and help me through the last three years with everything and when the phone did answer there was that snot-nosed girl there and when I asked if I could speak to Brittney her response to me was Brittany no longer is here now I have to deal with this. I don't know where Britney went and I don't like this person and I don't like the way she speaks to me or deals with me if she makes me feel like I'm stupid or shouldn't be applying for disability and I should be working when I can't and how do I know that she's given the message to my lawyer I have yet to hear from her and I got this decision last week in the mail and from what I've read it's not a good decision. thanks everybody for letting me vent, it seems to be my only Outlet right now I can't talk to my husband because I don't want to put any more strain on him or go to a therapist because that will just be another bill to add to the pile that we already have to pay through his paycheck.
