I basically have a new truck by now, right? Today we install a rebuilt rear differential in the 1988 Ford F700. Also, the transmission gets installed for the second time after having to send it back out to the shop I purchased it from due to failing seals. I spared you the footage on that. Everything seems to be operational again so it's finally time to get all of the backlogged orders filled. I look forward to reading the comments. Thanks for watching!

Picked up an 89 F700 6.6 Manual, went to change the rear diff fluild. 16 quarts came out, I thought it was only supposed to be 10 qts?

I think this just happened to my f800 going up a very steep hill. I have a couple of questions if you can help me. Can this be done with out removing the wheels? Do the axle bars need to be pulled out first before removing the diff gears? And where did you get parts?

If I remember, wheels can stay on. Axle hub cap and axle must come out. You need to pull axles carefully, make sure they’re complete end to end. If not, message back before doing anything further. You’ll have to find a salvage junk yard. I had to travel about 2 hours.

How did you actually remove it? we took the 10 bolts out but doesn't seem to want to pull out even by prying on the tabs?

I can’t remember if it needs to be in high or low. But take the 2spd off and look at the fork, you should be able to see which way the fork needs to make it smaller. Also make sure your axles are out. I remember I used a chain and a binder to the crossmember of frame but in my case I had just a little piece of axle broken off that was stuck. Be very careful. I don’t know your exact situation but I ended up using a chain and binder to pull it.
