STARTING FROM SCRATCH! On today's episode we are starting our new project on the channel. Chassis swaping Liams GQ Leaf Sprung Patrol to a Coil Chassis ! But were not stopping there,
We are going to fully rebuild this car from the ground up. New DIFFS, New Suspension, CAB RESPRAY and PANEL REPLACEMENT, we are even going to have a stab at building our own tray.

To say everyone that follows this channel is excited to see this content is an understatement. I think everyone would want to see two videos a week now even if it isn't up to the same quality as all your other videos we just want to see what your up to. Keen to see the build begin, I reckon if you do a tally of parts cost as you go that'll be mint. It'll show people how realistic a big build like this can be and maybe inspire people to do something similar

Good move with the new chassis. One thing while it's bare is to do your fuel tank/s and maybe fit a water tank as well.

Ground up build 👍 Start with a new wagon body, chop down into space cab. Give yourself that extra 150mm of room for those legs + boots on long trips.

If you hadn’t already planned to - Look into strengthening the rear coil towers while you have it in this state. You can make up your own plates or buy weld on kits . So much easier to make a great job of it now and never have to worry about the towers cracking or worse later on . Love this channel

While you're that stripped down it wouldn't be a bad idea to brace all your coil towers as they tend to bend in the patrols. I'd also get the chassis gal dipped so it doesnt rust and either powdercoated or 2pac. Goodluck with your build! I've just started mine ground up and I'll be bracing the chassis and gal dipping it.

Looks good, keen to see the progress on this as it happens. I have a crazy idea to put one of our Adventra wagon body’s onto a patrol chassis one day spending the days learning more been hands on so when that time comes I’ll have some idea of how I will do it, one thing I’ve always loved about AA is it’s need to not be doing everything because you can and to splash cash instead preserve what you have and if you do spend cash it’s for a reasonable reason. 👍🏼

Did this exact swap last year, leaf to coil, cab bolts staright up to coil chassis. Only thing is you'll need to chop front inner gaurd for shock towers, need to change front gaurds to coil ones as leafs are different. Apart from that everything fits. An for the tray mounts hit up psr performance they do a weld on kit with chassis bracing. Super easy an well built 👌🏼

Yes, dim memory from an old Nissan parts guy… although the front guards look the same there are differences in the size and position of the wheel opening.

Great move swapping the chassis and installing GU diffs!! When it comes to suspension make sure you install a coil tower brace kit in the rear, the crossmembers aren’t close to the coil towers and with no wagon body there either they can move and crack the coil hats, maybe even the chassis too. Don’t ask me how I know 😂

This is sick as, to be honest I view Aussie Arvos as a channel that I always check out, but I don't get as excited to see vids pop up as some of the other big channels. I'm sure a lot of others are in the same boat, however I am KEEN to see this, just as keen as I am to see anything from BnB, Shedlife, 4wd 24/7, Ronny Dahl ect. Can't wait boys!!

There's a few suggestions to Raptor the chassis, mud loves the stuff and you'll bring home a 100kgs of mud everytime you go bush. Valspar anti graffiti paint is the go for chassis and the underside of 4WD's, it's like teflon, even Toolangi superglue mud won't stick to it. An empty ute cab is easy to paint the underside, roll it onto the back wall, to work vertical, instead of above you. Raptor on the panels is a personal choice, some like, some hate. It is tough, I think it looks good, when done properly and it provides some heat and noise insulation as an added benefit. Mud doesn't collect on flat panels, like it does in the internal corners and ribs of the underside. That's my $0.02 worth.

@@colinclarke3338 They make specific underbody paints for the North American market, I don't know if they're imported to Australia, I've never used them. I use Valspar TB540 for the colour base, then CC700(from memory) anti graffiti clear over top, I've never had rust issues. If you want something, that doesn't require sanding first, in my opinion, the best rust prevention product available is Vitacare out of WA, but your mechanic will hate you for it, 20 years after application, it'll still glue nuts into sockets and everything sticks to it.

Did the same thing some years ago but was a ute chassis not a wagon. Found a few cancer issues but easy fix ,tip pull the floor cover out a spray with rustolium, looking forward to your updates,good luck, the comfort will make it worth it trust me.

I've just done a body swap on an 80, retapping the threads on the chassis while it was bare made a huge difference when it went back together, fresh body mounts are worth the money. I painted the chassis in gloss black, but I'd probably raptor it if I was doing it again.

Hope your prepared for the difference between coil and leaf cabs, it’s no small job you’ll need to change the inner guards and radiator support, honestly would’ve been better off to cut the back wall off and do an extra cab on the wagon chassis
