The way he talks about becoming immersed in AC sounds exactly like the experience I had with EQ in 1999. I was in 6th grade and that game completely engulfed my mind inside it. The only difference is, my dad didnt let me play. So I never got that deep into it.
Same for me but for vanilla wow. I was 24 when it came out. Hit rank 14 and was popular for the first time in my life. Oh those were the days. Early days of mmos were just...magical.
19:29 it's true, even though Runescape classic didn't hold a candle to wow, I still enjoyed playing it more because it was my first and I just loved it so darn much. I had fun killing Goblins in Lumbridge for SEVENTEEN levels because I had no idea the game went beyond that castle. I still remember my first friend "El_Phil" level 37 (first time I'd been called a "noob) when I first met him and was so happy when I passed him in level and he praised me.
That feeling of your very first MMO is definitely unforgettable. I grew up with shitty Internet as well, and I mainly played single-player games up until 2005 when I had my first MMO experience. This actually happened with WoW, and it was such an amazing memory exploring Elwynn Forest and Stormwind for the very first time. Great days gone.
the old school mmos we’re so grindy and hardcore compare to any mmo after. Anyone can get the best gear and highest level in wow. but you actually had to work insanely hard to be the best in old games.
Oh god I remember those days. Me and 3 friends all played Ultima Online on the same 56k modem because it cost like a dollar per hour to be online back then. 20 years ago, time just flies by doesn't it? :D I actually found the game box at my parents place a couple days ago. That was a great game.
Hehe. Here in Sweden it was $2 per hour at daytime. $1 per hour after 6pm(18:00). I downloaded the entire Windows 2000 ISO from a Warez site and it took a few days and cost a ton of money.

BushFyreYT I played with him in asherons call. The server we played on was called morningthaw. Reckful was the best sliding mage 🧙♀️ player killer. When I was playing he was always red “player killing mode”. He was damn good on our server.
Ya, nothing that Reckful said in this video was made up at all, he was legit the best ever and it's to an extent that nobody actually disputes it. He's one of the few carebears (people that played on non pk servers) that was respected on Darktide (the only pk server) because of his skill.

what you explained at 7 minutes in is something we had in Maplestory, it was called a family though, and you got points that you could spend on certain stuff, like exp/drop buffs and teleporting to players/summoning them etc.. It's cool to see where it originated from though :P
You can try playing Gran Skrea Online. Its new game and have 'old school' graphics and is made by indie development team. Its still developing and patching and people should know about it. You lose items on death, farm life (farming, fishing, tailoring etc) and combat (archery, swordsmanship or whatever, forgot what they call it and etc) professions.... Just a new old school mmo. Also, no classes.
accountsharing, boosting, letting someone else lvling his character. thats all stuff that can lead to a perma ban. He made alot of money with breaking the rules and Blizz dont like it if player make money with their game. Thats why bots won't get permabanned if they just farm form themselves, but they will if they find out that you're selling gold for $.
he boosted other people in arena and some viewers lvld his rogue and other chars multiple times, he cried all the time in the stream someone should lvl his char.
Legends of Aria is nearing the end of Closed Beta 2 and about to hit Steam Early Access and it has parts of this (leveling each skill, no classes etc). There is a stress test that is wide open on Aug 17, 2018.
Oh yeah, those 1999 internet speeds were ridiculously slow. Being able to download stuff took days. Napster at the time would take you hours to get a song. AIM, ICQ, and AOL chat rooms... small nostalgia moments hearing Reckful talk about this.
Yeah I remember I was around 10-11 and a friend of mine was playing Tibia (really bad looking game) and I said to him whats that crappy looking game you playing, he made me a character 1 week later I tought it was the best thing it ever happened in my life I still play (on and off) 13 years later
Darkfall is like this but gear is a bit more plentiful. You dont lose things that took 8 months etc to get. But that rush is there. You'd love it. In fact alot of people that played AC play or have played darkfall.
man its like the 2016 and 2017 cycle talk about old mmo , look for wow unban, expansion comes out, go on a vacation, stop streaming, be depressed and its starts from the beginning again.. PepeHands
Haha the things we remember from our noobish days. I remember buying gold bars on the auction house because I thought they'd sell for one gold each. So I spent all my money only to vendor them. Didn't even try to auction them off again. /facepalm
