No matter what Daniel says, prose is treated as singular, not plural, just like poetry or music. It may sound plural, but so do nose and rose. Don’t let that fool you. “His prose is beautiful” is correct.

I'm the girl who asked for 'Rebecca' and 'The Yellow Wallpaper' type of book.(I loved 'The Yellow Wallpaper' so much I actually translated it to my native language for everybody to read. I can't believe it wasn't translated yet.) You hit the nail on the head with Poe - he's one of my favourite authors. I'll definetly check out the other book too. Loved the video - it was a great idea! Would love to see more of this type of content.

Mistborn spoilers: Merphy: “there is some violence here and there but not a lot.” Vin: *explodes dudes head by headbutting him and lets another dude bleed out after stabbing him in the neck* Elend: *cuts up thousands of Koloss* Sazed: *rips Koloss apart with his bare hands* For real though Sanderson doesn’t use that much detail but still a bunch of violence. Maybe I envision it way worse than it actually is in my head. I haven’t read Stormlight yet so I don’t know about the violence there
@kokorodaki4017
@kokorodaki4017 4 года назад
Stormlight does have some pretty heavy violence (and I'm sure, more I'n forgetting), but it's not much worse than what's in Mistborn, just on a larger scale. It does spend a lot of time tackling the moral implications and the reasons behind all of the violence as well though. So it may not be 'graphically' much, but it's still quite heavy in the way it's approached in writing, especially in book 3.

I'm from South Africa myself and would love to see one of our stories get reviewed on this channel. Just to be clear (as text doesn't always do a great job conveying tone), I am not making a demand nor even strongly suggesting this needs to happen. Just that it would be enjoyable to see it and I think as someone who loves books, you'd enjoy diving into an absolutely different world.

I loved Fredrik Backman and I also loved My Dark Vanessa. Writing style is not as beautiful as Backmans but really good in a different way. I‘m going to try The Vanishing Half next

books with good boy friendship is The Otterbury Incident by Cecil Day-Lewis. books that touched my heart is Where my Heart Belongs by Tracie Peterson. This books does have romance but it’s more about two sisters than anything else.

I’ve been worried about investing my time in a series that hasn’t been completed yet because I don’t want to be disappointed, but I think you finally sold me on the Gentleman Bastard series. Does the first book read like a standalone? Or are there a lot of loose ends that are addressed in the subsequent books?

I've only read the first book and I feel like it stands well on its own.

Book one is solid as a stand alone of that's how you wanna read it 😄

Merphy Napier I’m hoping I enjoy it enough to continue with the series, but it’s good to know that it works well as a standalone!

Varsha Mavath That’s good! Sometimes I lack the will-power to stop a series that I’m not fully enjoying because I want to see how the loose ends are handled. A book that does well as a standalone story and as an introduction to a series sounds like an ideal read for me.

Yes, the first book of GB can be read as a stand-alone. However, the second and third books both leave open major plot details that make you want to start the next book immediately. Luckily for us, we get book four later in the year (October I believe?).

I'm currently reading Locke Lamora for the first time, and it's giving me strong vibes of another series. If you haven't already read it, you should try Traitor's Blade by Sebastien de Castell. The audio is amazing! I've read the first 2 in the series, absolutely continuing on!

The Outsiders was our set book for school in Grade 8 and after four years is yet to be topped by another set book. It was the only set book I went home and read in my spare time. I finished it in one Friday evening the very first week of school.

It's still recommended reading, my 7th grader read it for his English AP class last year. He hates mandatory reading, but really enjoyed it at the end.

Hey random question, have you watched Netflix's show Dark? I'd love to know ur opinion on it if u have watched it. It's one of the few shows that made me feel the same way I feel when finishing a good long book or saga, sad that it ended because I wanted to stay in that world and with those characters for ever D:
