Only thing that matters to me right now are the My Bloody Valentine reissues.

Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor set is probably the only one I found exciting on the list.

Steely Dan 2000s albums. Those albums have been begging for a repress from the Steely Dan diehards for years. One was album of the year, the other was recorded all analog (in 2003!). Great, quirky, smooth, high Fidelity that we have come to love from Steely Dan.

Thanks for the overview- as the guy who works with artists and labels to create the RSD records, it’s appreciated. Personally, I think this year’s offerings are some of the best we’ve done...our goal is to make it so music fans can find 5-7 records they’d love... not easy to do when there are so many genres.

I totally called the Miles Davis Jack Johnson outtakes LP. I posted a comment about that on your RSD predictions video. I'm really excited to pick that up as I have the previous two. That leaves the "On The Corner" complete box set left unrepresented. Speaking of cash grabs, the Tom Petty blue vinyl "re-do" of the She's The One Soundtrack that has some tracks that didn't make the Wildflowers box set (Wildflowers and the soundtrack to She's the One are somewhat related from a recording sessions perspective). The note about this version being exclusive to RSD seems to hint at the fact that there might be other colors available later (like black, for example).

I'll be keeping an eye out for the Steely Dan stuff since my mother likes them alot, i figure it would make a pretty good gift. As for myself, i'm hoping to snatch a copy of Tokyo Lost Tracks from the Japanese catalogue.

Still digesting the list but The Police live in 79 and 83 caught my eye. Just 4 years but an interesting change in sound. And I am lining up. Its fun for the social aspect; I see some folks only at RSD lineups and catch up! 👍

Elton John, The Who, & Monkees Missing Links are the “must get” for me.

It’s interesting to see how almost everyone has one month that has a decent amount of releases they’re interested and then the other month has almost nothing. There’s almost no one I’ve seen that’s excited about both drops. For me, June has basically nothing, but July has two soundtracks, a jazz album, and a 7” I’m interested in.

I'm stoked for The Truth by Prince. Wanted that album since I was a kid.

Always appreciate the reminder for the need to differentiate between RSD exclusive or first drop. List i have doesn't identify which is which but given my very MOR and AOR tastes, Garbage, Tears for Fears and Toyah. Hoping though that won't necessitate lining up...

While I'm personally disappointed with the list, I know there's a lot of stuff others are excited for. That's good by me. As long as there's something for some music lovers to enjoy, I'm good

I'm definitely in the camp of people excited for a shot at Food and Liquor and getting 2 is a nice bonus. Whokill is also exciting, but not a revolutionary RSD drop. Also, as a huge M. Ward fan, I'm excited to finally add End of Amnesia to my collection, but I'm sure that's not way up there on many people's lists. Overall, not a wildly amazing list, but I might just line up this year because I miss the camaraderie of an RSD line.

Don't forget to grab the Mulatu Astatke Timeless concert LP as well! The Mochilla Timeless concert LPs are easily at the top of my list, followed by Salah Rageb- Egyptian Jazz, a longtime grail of mine. Lots of cool jazz releases, including a live Roy Hargrove LP as well.

Absolutely agree. There's a few albums that I'd like but there isn't any "must have" albums which is pretty sad given the year we've all had. This should have been a huge celebration and a way to get people excited about visiting local record shops. Oh well...

This year is my first RSD so I'm kinda excited for some of the drops like Lupe Fiasco's & PARTYNEXTDOOR Box Sets

It’s a killer list for me this year, especially on my wallet, as there are a lot of things I want to get, so that’s a YES on my part. More so than any of the titles from last year, unless I combined all four, and even then, still probably not. Also, I have the good fortune of NOT having to wait in line for many hours (2, maybe 3, tops) and usually getting everything I want. (With the exception of not buying something at the time, and then regretting it later.)

Me and other lady Gaga/pop fans are super excited for the chromatica special edition release. It’s original release on vinyl was lackluster because it didn’t feature any album artwork and it was just the vinyl in a clear sleeve. This deluxe edition will finally have the amazing album art in a tri-fold edition with an lp-sized booklet and fan magazine. She’s selling a basic black version on her web store, but RSD will get it first with an exclusive highlighter yellow vinyl. It’s something the fans have been begging for!

I might bite for Tune Yards. Who Kill was a favorite of mine. Came out right before I graduated high school and is pretty nostalgic for me in that.

Good call on Slum Village, Matt - totally missed it. I had nomidea J Dilla was partmof that. I saw them open for what were supposed to be A Tribe Called Quest's "last two' shows amd they were great...now i can tell people i saw j dilla ha ha. I like the list and liked it more after i readmit 4 times...definitely not driving to amoeba for this but will go to a local shop in San Diego...i am beyond stoked that the Prince acoustic disc from Crystal Ball is coming...i wish i wasnt a sucker that had to buy every cure release but here we are. I am stoked abiut the Tears for Fears too...itmis going on my list that is about at 12 things now ha ha.

Is it worth Lining up this year? The entire point of RSD is to get people out to Indie stores.

I'm with you. At first glance I didn't like the list either but I saw some things that I'll go for such as the Denzel Curry and Robert Glasper 7," the KMD 30th anniversary, and the Czar/DOOM 3" are the 3 that I really want to have. Some "maybes" I have would be the RATM Mexico City, Air pic disc, Miles Davis LP, and Czar Noir. I am a huge Gorillaz fan so I was stoked when I heard about the box set but after looking into it I'm probably not going to get it because I already have every LP from them. Overall I think its somewhat lackluster but I'm still looking forward to it.

I agree with a lot of your viewpoints . Nothing stood out as a must have for me on first read. We will see if I feel the same after going over the list with a fine tooth comb.

My first glance didn’t present too many that I was interested in tbh.. my local store is doing all online again as far as I know so might try to grab some from there, but I guess we will see!

I've never lined up for RSD. There has only been a handful of RSD records since 2014 that I've picked up and they're all exclusives. However colored vinyl or picture disc variants don't do anything for me. Also do we really need 20 more live albums when there is a huge list of amazing albums from 1990 - 2010 that never got a vinyl release.

Matt, I know youve been dabbling in metal recently, so if you havent already, definitely check out The Sword - Age of Winters. Stellar hard rock/sludge metal album from 2006 getting a 15th anniversary press on the June drop.

I ended up picking up the single record that I wanted last weekend. Didn’t think it was gna be there, but low and behold that evening it was there. I’d rather that dilemma then waiting in line and finding out the store only brought in a few of something.

I'm definitely in between on this list. I was hoping for the AIC reissue of the self title, and Midnight Vultures from Beck, but I can definitely make this work.

I had the ‘it looks ok, but...eh’ until I saw Harold and Maude and eternal sunshine along with the life aquatic. I got really excited for these. Seeing the Tom Petty one peaked my interest too. I would line up. Tried the online waiting in the cue line and got frustrated like most would. I found that if I could grab it early and get a sense of digging a bit I felt happy. Online shopping is great for convenience but discovering things that may not have been on my radar is always a bonus for me. My wallet says otherwise after the beating it takes on these days

Looking forward to picking up Stryper "God Damn Evil" on 180 gram turquoise colored vinyl.

The 1980 live Def Leppard album interested me. That era of the band was the most energetic and hungry. Years before they sold out.

Thank you for sifting through the lists for us, Matt! RSD has never really been my kind of thing. Year after year only a fraction of the actual list makes its way to record stores in Hungary, so lining up is completely pointless. As for this list, There's a Shintaro Sakamoto release (400 copies, so no chance I'll get it), the Life Aquatic soundtrack and David Holmes' Ocean's Eleven score. That is all. I have a rather limited taste in music.

Idk if ypu made another video about the rsd releases but their looking pretty good now and i think u mightve mussrd some in your talk. There's Alkaline Trio, Mastodon, Avatar, Anti-Flag, Senses Fail, Thrice, my chem, amd alot of classic rock guys too. Im still deciding on going tmrw so well see but you might wanna look out for those online or something. There's eveb gonna be a glow in the dark Chief Keef album.

The Groundhogs, Negative Approach, LMAF, Richard Hell, Opeth, The Police, Cure Wild Mood Swings but bummed it is a picture disc, Tad, Soul Slabs 3 are just some of the titles i am excited about. I think since the pandemic, and the ability for stores to sell online the afternoon of RSD, people do not need to line up in crowds. But we are still excited as a Pledge store, to have some buzz for our little brick and mortar shop.

Honestly, 2019 was stellar ... but before that I think the last one I really went nuts for was like 2015? That said, you didn’t mention anything on my pick up list - haha. That Flaming Lips Soft Bulletin era odds and ends, R. Stevie Moore, Wipers, Negative Approach, Thai Elephant Orchestra and maybeeeee that Alkaline Trio?

The Doors Morrison Hotel Sessions is what I’m most excited for. It’s my boyfriend’s favorite band and it’s slowing becoming a favorite of mine and I’m always a sucker for session recordings of any album

Steely Dan's "Two Against Nature" being pressed again is huge for me personally (the original goes for around $450). That album has a lot of character and I am curious to see how the fidelity is on it because of how great SD records usually sound.

I feel pretty happy that I actually have a big ticket item to look forward to: The Allegory by Royce Da 5'9" It's just so good, it made my top 10 of 2020 and I thought would be a RSD drop at SOME point because Royce does really weird things with his vinyl where they come out as RSD drops instead of widespread releases. In concept alone, the album just floors me. Taking the allegory of the cave theory philosophy and translating that into a sequence of masterfully crafted hip hop songs from somebody with a skillset like Royce gives you this beautifully written and sequenced set of songs. The way the songs seamlessly transitions, ugh it's just so good. It comes on heavy-weight 180 gram gold vinyl, 45rpm, a huge wide spine, I need it in my life. Anyways, it's super heavily allocated with only 1,200 for the entire world and it's an exclusive. My local store reached out on Instagram to ask what records people would like to pick up so I definitely put a word in that if they could snag one, that'd be amazing. There's a couple of other joints I want, but after checking RoughTrade and seeing the prices of these things, these are some of the most expensive retail price records I've ever seen. RT has been accurate with their prices in the past so I have no reason to doubt that the prices they have listed are at least in the ballpark of what retail is (In USD$ of course). The Allegory is priced at $39.99, which is a lot of money but, justifiable to spend in my opinion on something as rare and as good as that. The other record that is maybe my number two biggest want is the Biggie Duets: The Final Chapter posthumous compilation album. I enjoy those songs quite a bit, and the record has been out of print since 2005 and as a collector, I try to find stuff sealed as best as I can, and a sealed copy for that album is just way too expensive for me to pay. Funny enough, this upcoming one has a retail price (According to RT) of $49.99 for a 2xLP set and a 7" :( I may pass on that one and watch the aftermarket, there's a ton going around so I'm not going to be too worried about it skyrocketing in price. Couple other wants, I'm interested in the Chromatica release. I hate the way Lady Gaga did the vinyl in the clear sleeve with no cover art, I never bought it because I knew at some point she'd release the official cover art and she's finally doing it now. It's on a 3LP set with a bunch of extra goodies inside, a 28 page zine, some pictures, yellow vinyl; a really cool set and I like the album. I also want that Donna Summers - "Bad Girls" reissue. I love that album, one of the most iconic disco albums ever. I have a lot of memories with that album, the song "On The Radio" in particular, my dad used to play that all the time when he used to drive a school bus. So I'll be grabbing that for me and my father. I want the PND box set, it's actually fairly priced in my opinion at $125 for 4 albums across 6 discs; that's around $20 per physical record, not bad at all in my opinion.

Flaming Lips and CSNY are the only two that look interesting and "essential" to me. The CSNY Deja Vu outtakes because I don't want to shell out for the full big box they've just released. And the Lips, because, well, they're the Lips and it has some rare stuff and the the silver vinyl probably looks great. The Life Aquatic Soundtrack is great, but I'll wait on that because it'll be cheaper later.

The two I really want that are on the Canadian list are the Bare Naked Ladies cassette and the Stomping Tom Conners record.

Some I am looking forward to is After by Ihsahn (formally of Emperor). This is his third solo album from 2010. It’s kind of like black metal meets Dark Side Of The Moon. The next two are stone cold hardcore classics that have been out-of-print for many years. The Age Of Quarrel by Cro-Mags and The Record by Fear. Old copies go for an arm and a leg. So, when I saw these on the list, I nearly screamed. Which, in a Costco parking lot CAN be disturbing.

I'm very excited for Having a Party with Jonathan Richman. Not sure how likely it is that my local store will have it, but I'd definitely line up if I had more assurance (that's the hardest part of RSD for me). I'll likely be searching eBay within hours of opening.

I completely agree with you. This is perhaps the weakest list I’ve ever seen for RSD. I will not be lining up and that kinda breaks my heart. As a big Muse fan I have to pick up the Matt Bellamy release. It's unfortunate that it's on a picture disc and none of it is really new material (it's mostly covers and alternate versions of Muse songs with a couple original songs). Also T.A.T.U as long as it's not overpriced.

Linkin Park, Evanescence, Alkaline Trio, Shrek, Ocean's Eleven and other labels/record stores I know of are releasing other things those days!

Weird that i get excited for RSD but i never go or buy vinyl (only CD's). For me it's a preview of what will be released on CD soon. Disc versions of these "so called' limited edition albums usually get released 6 to 12 months later, like Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged, etc.

Dude...being that you are such a big Pearl Jam fan I'm surprised that you didn't mention the 2 Alive releases at all. I'm a sucker for a gimmick like that so I'm definitely looking forward to snagging them. As well as The Struts - Strange Days which has not been released on vinyl until the RSD release.

I'll definitely get the new Styx EP and maybe the Matrix OST if I can grab it. There's a couple of others I'd be interested in especially on the RSD UK list, but none of those typically make it to Finland.

As its my first RSD this year I'm not too sure what the standard of how much I should buy is but at the moment I'm only really looking at three things. Meteora, Live at Kilmainham Gaol by Fontaine DC, and Use Me by PVRIS.
