Recovery from Aphasia in the first year after stroke.
Presentation by: Associate Professor Stephen Wilson, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Queensland
Associate Professor Stephen Wilson will present a prospective longitudinal study of 334 acute left hemisphere stroke patients, in which we describe acute aphasias and subsequent recovery trajectories over the first year, in relation to lesion location and extent.
Stephen is a cognitive neuroscientist with a research focus on the neural basis of language. I use functional and structural MRI and linguistic analyses to study language processing in individuals with and without aphasia, and to identify brain mechanisms that may support recovery from aphasia.
