The charcoal has to be my dream boot. Bloody fantastic to see a 360 welt on a ranger. The heel on the copper is a genius thought, looks amazing. You guys are truly talented cobblers. Keep up the amazing work chaps 🙏
I think we all can say that logger style recraft is objectively beautiful. This really makes me want to get a new pair of RWs and then make them exactly the same as those. Simply incredible!
I did just that and I hate to say it, but for the cost, I should have just bought a pair of White's or Nick's. Oh well, happy to send these guys some business.
Dang, that logger heel looks fantastic on the IR. And Tony, give the boots a shine before filming, man. 😉 put 'em in the makeup chair before their close-up. 🎬 📽 Love the channel, fellas. 👍
Great work on both pair🏆🏆 The versatility to craft and make the Iron Ranger the boots 🥾 they could be. Oh adding to extra support on both but differently adds the bonus. Makes me to buy 2 pair and have them done the same one for the day and one that’s can be used for going out. Great job guys 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Wow!! Normally I don’t go for the scooped Cuban / Logger heel, but that looks absolutely amazing! Fantastic job by both Cobblers. Thanks for the video fellas!
Well done fellas! For the 100’s of thousands of videos I’ve watched, under 20 have been saved lol. This one I’m coming back to when my boots are ready for sure.
Cheese and rice! Beautiful video, beautiful work. This is exactly what I was hoping for. Man, so stoked to rock them and make horrible life decisions! Rule #24 If you're going to be dumb, look cool. Thanks so much guys. Tony, I guess your boots look cool too. Awesome guys, thanks.
Tony and his team did a re-craft of my brand new Wolverine 1000 Mile boots. New split welts, steel shanks, thick leather mid sole, full corded outsole, Mr. Sole heel block, and leather patches to cover speed hooks that were cutting the tongue. The team did a fantastic job. Thanks to everyone at Wyatt and Dad!
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 I purchased “The Corded” package. There are numerous packages available to choose from. Prices for each package are listed on the Wyatt and Dad website. I also had a 25-year-old pair of Allen Edmond’s dress shoes re-crafted by Wyatt and Dad. Tony called me before each re-craft and we bounced ideas off of each other. Tony, Tobias, and the other cobblers at Wyatt and Dad are awesome.
Awesome job guys and it looks a bit like the dogger heel meets the logger! I like both jobs for practicality the double sole is nice but the 8111 definitely ended up catching my eye! What I would do to get a Blacksmith 3340 in briar and have that done. I have been personally waiting for them to build some new ones for nearly two years. Maybe eventually? A question for you though, I have the Munson Ranger 8011 in that Ash Settler polishable leather. Is there anything unique you may want to do with that Red Wing if I sent it in? I know it isn’t something you guys probably see everyday.
I worked with Tony recrafting my redwing 8126’s which are a wing tip Iron Ranger and my 8111s. The work he and Tobias did was beyond perfect. The new welts double mid sole on one with a cord bottom and a Dr sole half sole on the other are beyond description. Both pairs of boots are both better than new these guys are the real deal true craftsmanship at its best. Thank you Wyatt and Dad aka Tony
Hey so first of all the production quality in general for a smaller channel is unreal, but if I could offer one small suggestion: While you're going over each pair during the review section, it might be beneficial to cut in some B-roll of just the boots, stuff similar to 24:35 onward, with maybe a focus on each area as it's being discussed (ie, while talking about the storm welt, add in some B-roll showcasing the storm welt in closer detail). Like I said, clearly a ton of effort has gone into producing those videos already, this is just something I feel would help people both learn and appreciate the various aspects as you're going over them.
Thanks for the input! In other videos, we actually talk about the different welts and things that we know customers aren’t familiar with. Sometimes we get so focused on doing a good job that we forget to cover basics. Our newer videos are more focused on training than entertainment. We are trying to find a good balance. It’s been a learning curve for sure for these no technology cobblers. 😬
Cork paste is great for new shoes. Used shoes have pressure points. Using paste on used only fills in the gaps. So it will be thin in the pressure point areas. Premade is consistent in thickness everywhere
I think I agree with Tony on the thick midsole for stability. Both pairs are super jobs! I have new boots so I will wear them a while before they need to go to the shop. Outstanding work!
Actually brought my shoes into the durham shop and Tobias worked, what could only be described as a miracle, on some shoddy Clarks. Happy to see you guys elevating the youtube cobbler game.
Very nice! I didn’t see the beefing up the shank option on the website though. Good thing you guys call before you recraft because I want to mix these together when I send my boots in 😂
Thanks! Yeah, the website is designed for the basics. If you don’t see what you want, you can ship them in so we can customize everything for you, then we send you an invoice. We like to mix things up.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany I just stumbled across this video. Boy, was I excited to hear you're in NC! I'm in Sanford, so not far from Durham. When I'm ready I'll be bringing mine in to discuss the options. Can't wait till I wear mine out! Nice job on both pair. I think I might combine options from both. Just subbed and rang the bell.
It’s actually the fabric covering that comes over the shank from the factory on Alden’s. It helps prevent squeaking from steel shank rubbing against leather soles
I like real craftsmanship and marvel at yours. You offer great opportunities for Redwing owners. I recently got a pair of Blacksmiths and so far I'm happy with them. Can you tell me how much more the shoe weighs after the upgrade?
HEYYY Winston Salem in the house. I just happened across your videos after getting back from Red Wings in Winston Lol. Small world. Cool Video btw Also, how much would that logger heel modification cost a fella???
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Tony, Sir! I almost felt guilty by making this comment! Double midsole, storm welt + vibram outsole, it's a killer! Sounds like an ultimate boot...:-) maybe except red stitching. But that heel on the other one... Vanity won:-)
If Red Wing made the Iron Rangers like Tobias did here, I would own a pair. Took a boot that I've never been interested in and made it one that caught my eye when it was done.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany nice I will swing by the shop Thursday. Man that’s great that you guys are right by where I deliver. My new Redwing not even a week old are already separating at the sole.
14:32 cutting the nails to a specific length. How much longer than the heel stack do you want the nail to be to get the perfect clench? I'm sure you don't want it to be too long. Same I assume for the brass ones that go into the waist at the back of the half sole? Or are those just going into the leather outsole?
You measure from the side of the bases to the inner soles inside the boots. You want less than 1/8” clinch. You learn from experience how to get accurate at it. At first you have to check yourself by pulling the boot up and looking to make sure you got it correctly. The brass nails in the waist clinch in the inner soles on the sides and clinch against the steel shanks in the middle.,
That package is $300 with house leather soles or $330 with JR leather soles. The job in the video was with JR leather soles. We are striving to have those packages available on our website tomorrow. If not, you can send them in with contact information in the package and I will call once they arrive and go over everything with you.
