It's so enjoyable to watch and listen to Tony. Best thing about these videos is the teaching. I'll never make a pair of boots, but I like learning how an expert does it. Better entertainment than anything on TV. I enjoyed this one in part because I love my Bordon Tukano boots. Thanks for the video!
I knew I was getting it wrong when I said it. I was raised pre metric system days and I blame it on the public school system 🤣🤣. Just kidding. I don’t blame anyone.
Nice video. Can you please clarify what product you're using and talking about instead of CRC or paint thinner/emulsifier for priming your rubber sole? You didn't show the bottle well, so all I caught was "Reogal"? I know that's not what you said, though. I wanted to look it up
Renia Rehagol is the name of the primer. I use Renia Top Fit cement instead of CDC . If you send me an email to wyattndad@gmail.com I will email you a video about the process
Great to see you, Tony! Awesome job! Love how you explain the process of recrafting boots. They came out nice. Bordon should offer this as the “Cobbler Tony” model in their line of boots!
Mr. Tony you are definitely a master craftsman. You do some awesome work and the narration Yuki is outstanding. I am a newbie at this, but I love watching shoe repair. I have questions to ask what type of thread do you use to sew the welt on and what type and size of thread do you use to sew the sole on
Thanks! We use beeswax coated thread for sewing on the welts, and 1mm braided thread for stitching the soles on. If you are a cobbler and want detailed links on the threads, email me at wyattndad@gmail.com Tony Wyatt
I have been watching a fair number of boot and shoe resoles/restoration videos from other cobblers, and they are generally quite good. What I appreciate about yours is that you take the time to explain in great detail the reasons for doing such. The camera angles and close-up details clarify your verbal explanation. Your many decades of experience is also quite evident. My neighbor just had a pair of Iron Rangers done by you and he is very pleased.
Fantastic content. Tony, when replacing thin sole guards on loafers, does the upper leather get pulled? How do you peel them off? I have some unlined suede loafers that I’m worried about the uppers stretching during replacement.
They shouldn’t get stretched during the process. The shoe goes in the jacket stand (metal last that we work on) and we put pressure on the soles as we peel off the old one. That puts only pressure on the soles and not the uppers
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Well you know, I can't miss such a ripe opportunity to give Toby a friendly jab. He sure is good at ripping them apart though and really that's the best time to clean them anyways hahaha! I bet your boots turned out great, and it was fascinating to see the difference in construction for each boot, which imo is the sort of detail that we need to make smart decisions about buying the right boot for ourselves and options for reconstruction when they inevitably need it. Great stuff as usual and love to see y'all sharing your knowledge and craft.
I have always wanted to learn to be a cobbler. Restoring and improving stuff just be in my Scottish nature. Thank you for the education as well as just filming.
