What I love is the Wolverine cameo actually became an important plot device in a later movie. Modern movies Wolverine gets put into past Wolverine's brain and tries to enlist Xavier's help, only for Xavier (who is drugged up and jaded about the whole mutant thing) pretty much flips him off and reminds him that he told him (and Erik) to go fuck himself, and Wolverine actually has to put in effort to change his mind.

I thought that was extremely lazy writing. Charles and Eric didn't try at all to convince Logan to talk with them. Charles' anger and saying "Fuck off" to Logan in Days of Future Past comes across as dumb, as Charles should have nothing to complain about since he didn't try.

@@brofenixto be fair I could see Charles looking into Logan's head and seeing that "yeah this guy is definitely not gonna budge." Erik then also sees that if Charles gives up that quick, then he would have no chance either. Also apparently this scene was improvised. Hugh was supposed to say "Fuck off" but since he said "Go fuck yourself instead" James and Michael thought they had to do another take which is why they left casually. But this info has been thrown around like countless times so take it with a grain of salt lolololol.

If I'm not mistaken, Logan wasn't originally going to say that, but Hugh Jackman thought it would fit his character better and just said it without warning anyone. Erik and Charles turn around and leave immediately bc James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender thought they'd have to reshoot, but the director decided to keep it in the film

Hugh really did a great job with Wolverine, if someone didn't knew he improvised this scene, both actors shared a look trying no to laugh and go outside imagining they would have to shoot it again but Hugh did what Logan would do and they decided to keep it like this in the final cut

Fun Fact: In the script Logan was supposed to say: “Fuck off.” He improvised the line “go fuck yourself” because he thought it would fit the character better. You can see the surprise in James McAvoys face, because he expected a different line. In days of future past, Charles references that when he says to Logan that he told them to “fuck off” the line which was originally in the script. Just the little details. ;)

Another comment around here said it, but we could assume that Charles read Logan's mind, and realized this guy is too stubborn to be convinced. Meanwhile Erik, who is likely taking cues from Charles, took that as a sign that this wasn't gonna work. (Of course the real life reason is they didn't pay to Hugh to be Wolverine for the whole movie and chose to keep him a cameo)

What I like about Hugh Jackman's cameo here is that, yes, it is a cameo. But it's one that makes sense. - Wolverine obviously would've been alive at that time. - His response does fit his loner (at least on the surface) nature. - With how the rest of the story plays out, his abilities wouldn't have been much more useful than the team that ultimately gets formed. So there's no need to have him distract from the rest of the characters.

Would've been a whole lot more productive if they'd just sent Logan back to 1962 when they were actively recruiting mutants for the X-Men. Logan could've... - accepted their invite to join the team - proven their future with a quick conversation between the past and present Charles Xavier - prevented a catastrophic split-up in the X-Men - prevented Charles from paralysis and his subsequent bout of depression - waited for Jean to turn 18

At 0:57 I think Charles Xavier broke the 4th wall. Angel removed her bra so she was supposedly nude, but the reason audience aren’t seeing her nude is because Charles made us think she still had her clothes on. Charles looking straight at the camera right before Angel is the key.

If the story about Jackson improvising the line "go fuck yourself" is true (you know how these stories can be), then I think he was absolutely right with inserting it in. Silence from Logan wouldn't have been 'I have nothing to say to you' or 'You aren't worth my time' or 'Leave me alone' because he doesn't know them. It would've been 'I'm too wrapped up in my own shit to care for you', and Logan isn't someone who allows those emotions out in public. The look between the pair of them does look like Charles is saying, "I've read his mind; he won't budge. Let's go." Not McAvoy saying,"And Take 2?" Always loved Fassbender's little eye crinkle when Jackson says that. There's something PotC-esque about it of 'Have I forgotten something in the script?'

The Wolverine cameo was perfect and all but did anyone else besides me notice the MARV sign behind Wolverine? That is actually an easter egg for Matthew Vaughn's studio with the same name.
