Thanks for the precise presentation. I would like to contribute with few additional aspects 1)The care of diaper area is also very important to prevent recurrent UTI that can be missed easily even by doctors and cause renal insufficiency in some cases. Diapers should be changed frequently, the direction of cleaning with water wipes should be from forwards to backwards to prevent contamination from anus and after each defeacation, diaper area shall be washed with water and syndet at proper conditions and be dried carefully. 2)Intercultural differences shall also be considered for "breaking the cycle" of recurrent UTI , muslims wash their genital area after each urination and defeacation, the water supply for that can also derive from country to country. The best and proper style I observed was in United Arab Emirates. 3)Prevention of "Female Genital Mutilation" in Muslim Africans of Africa (it is not widely performed in other muslim countries) should be considered for not only preventing recurrent UTI but also a serious humanitarian issue. 4)Types and style of clothes can also play role on recurrent UTI. 5) If there is abnormal structure of urinary tract like renal cysts or findings that are not common for the age like early renal stones or urolithiasis, multidisiplinary approach for genetic and metabolic diseases that can be vital should not be forgotten.
i've read articles on a study published in jama oct 2018. said women with recurrent utis (3 or more/year) cut in half the incidence of uti by drinking 11 cups of water/day.
Mom who's 89 years old has been dealing with UTI for the past 2 years. Has taken all types of antibiotics without clearing up her infection. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Can you tell me if there is a vaccine? It is the only treatment that can stop this horrible condition,I am tired listening about prevention,I know it all as for the past 40 years I have tried all ways but it still returns and as you get older it has a worse effect
