@@Giulio-Romeo "oh no the game is too slow and doesnt have the modern fast paced movement slide canceling that i want so its a boring game" shut yo femboy lookin ahhhh bro its obv that games like this arent made for kids like you. go back to fortnite
@@Giulio-Romeo I wish I could have been in the Wild West so I pretty much rp on there lol. It’s a slow game for sure especially at the beginning but I truly love it ngl.
@@Struggler_5 I agree with some things that you said but it cant be because of kratos, because right now people are considering arthur the greatest protagonist in gaming history.
@@pabloescobas9824 its not because of kratos, its because the game itself was a solid package all around. My game of the year personally is rdr2 hands down, but even i will admit the flaw of rdr2 which let it down. It was the controls, they were far from perfect, while gow was just insanely optimised and fluid. There were too many complaints about the controls of rdr2, it was called clunky, outdated etc etc. And those complaints had to be taken into consideration when picking goty. Its as simple as that, believe it or not. So yea, a sad situation indeed, but thats what happened, thats how gow won over rdr2, nothing more to it.
RDR2 is boring and outdated, the very definition of quantity over quality. GOW4 reinvented itself from one end to the other and beat the crap out of everything else in sight, in good GOW taste. As for the music? Are you kidding me? Bear Mccreary himself came from the hallows of music composition (one of the few modern creators left worth listening to in his bracket) and made GOW's hammer struck piece, tying the game from one end to the other. I dare anyone come out with their flabby RDR2 music and try to compare it point for point in cohesion and impact with what happened in GOW4 where you got smacked in the face from point A to point Ω.
Rockstar composed a *different original score/song for each individual chapter, mission & moment.* And it only being *played ONCE.* Is that not enough for them to win this award?
I even saw one fanboi dissing this because it's a western soundtrack. It's sad that kids these days wouldn't know how to respect the classic appeal of Western.
"That's the way it is..." Only moment I cried in a video game, I came close to it during the ending of the first Red Dead, but I cried actual tears when the press x to ride prompt showed up and the first notes started playing, no game, for me, has been able to make me feel this emotionally invested in its characters and world, and the score played a huge part in that so I think this was a well deserved win
Why are there so many salty people in the comments? Don't put down a game just because your preference didn't win. Also, get your ears checked if you don't understand why RDR2 deserved the win.
@@Itsa.Me-Megan that's also my other point but I didn't want the comment to become lengthy. All the nominees deserved the award, no doubt. Everyone has a preference, just wish people were respectful of whoever won.
So RDR2 beat GOW4 in best narrative, best musical score and best acting performance, but SOMEHOW GOW4 still gets the game of the year award... ... because screw logic.
Yea they got the awards turned around from what I wanted when it came to Best Music, Best Narrative and Game of the Year but I am still happy God of War won even though Red Dead Redemption 2 is my personal GOTY.
Wow it's as if there are other things than those three that could make it game of the year (this is coming from someone whos favourite game of all time is Red Dead 2)
Andres Bordoni GoW got GOTY out of respect I guess, also I think if RDR2 got GOTY, then people would be calling Game Awards Rigged or something like that.
Golden Frieza so? Does it matter? Gow won best game direction instead of red dead 2 which took 8 YEARS to develop, this shows how bad fanboys like you have voted
@Punch Down King the old themes just sound more "Godly" to me, but i guess that's the point for the new one since he isn't killing gods left and right idk
Red Dead deserved this win (and GOTY, tbh). The RDR2 OST is stunning, original and extremely broad. The scores had emotion and added so much richness to the gameplay. I'm also one of those "I listen to everything but country people." Well I was one of those until RDR2 lol.
Yeah, it takes a lot for me to listen to country. So when those first few seconds of 'See the Fire in Your Eyes' hit the screen during playthrough, I had goosebumps.
Music in these video games over the years tend to send a powerful message. I am glad Red Dead Redemption 2 won the best music award for 2018. Red Dead Redemption II has some very amazing twangs to the music; story pretty great to, not to mention Arthur Morgan's journey throughout the game, that is pretty phenomenal.
I disagree with this i mean you have the right to this opinion But my opinion is That rdr2 fits it has a western style and can make you tense, it can make you vengeful and it can even make you cry. But Thats just my opinion.
J-Squeezy well there is an obvious bias towards games from big companies, hence why god of war won game of the year and red dead redemption which is just your typical rockstar game with horrible mechanics won so many awards.
Alvaro Szigethi Marcos Red Dead Redemption 2 is a technical masterpiece, world building and challenges aren’t for people who need to kill something every five seconds. You don’t make sense because Rockstar is a bigger company than Santa Monica.
James Vaughn red dead is best game of this generation. And gow is 2nd best game of this generation.Loved both but my goty is rdr2.And rdr2 is my fav game of all time.Gow is my 2nd fav game of all time 😁
@@lukamarjanov366 they are both equal in my terms. i'm a bigger fan of gow but i'm not gonna put down other games like you are doing right now out of bias. god of war - red dead redemption - spider-man these 3 games are the best games of the last decade for sure. they are all GOTY and number 1 in my eyes.
Efecan YSL this were first god of war and red dead games that i have played.Gow was awesome and i am hyped for sequel.However,rdr2 is giant masterpiece. It was first game that ever made me cry.Rockstar made phenomenal story.Open world is awesome too.Currently playing horizon zero dawn(first play through)
I am very sorry, but I just do not see how RDR2 bested Octopath Traveler in music. I just do not. I am sorry, I love RDR2, but that is just unsettling to me.
There is no comparison: Octopath has the best soundtrack of these by FAR, but unfortunately the awards always go to the most popular game. That is why I don't consider the game awards relevant
I had a friend who didn't like rdr 2. Games like rdr 2 and gow are masterpieces. They are artisti. it's meant to touch your feelings. Some idiots are not patient enough to enjoy the journey what can we do......
Woody Jackson is up there for me alongside Nobuo Uematsu, Grant Kirkhope, David Wise and Yoko Shimomura as one of my favorite composers. Can’t wait to hear his music in GTA VI.
Personally I believe that Octopath deserved this award, now I can't be sure because I haven't played RDR2, but to me, every song in Octopath felt like it had a meaning to when it was being used and the atmosphere it was placed in, this isn't me having a rant, this is just a simple difference of opinion, but I know that if I looked at the RDR2 ost, I wouldn't enjoy it more because I haven't played it so none of the music has meaning to me. It's the same with every piece of music. The main thing that makes music beautiful is the reason it is being played. Personally I believe that Octopath was very very shadowed, it is honestly a game that hit me in the heart when I finished it. That's why I love every piece of music in it, any song is good when context is applied
While you may be right. You don’t always have to listen to the music in context all the time there are a bunch of music in games I listened to that I liked and haven’t played. However I just find octopath the better ost. I mean the music like battle at journeys end, Those who govern reason and those they call the witch and many of the other ost are reason enough for why octopath should have won.
And not just the parts where people sing in the score.RDR2's soundtrack beauty lies in the wanted themes, all mission themes, different music according to different game endings and so on.
I thought the music definitely elevated the big 3 games of this year, god of war, spider-man and red dead 2, but none stood out to me as much as detroit become human's score: having 3 separate composers that each made a differently thematic score for each of the 3 main characters. I thought that was very well done, especially connor's score.
Does anyone here agree that battlefield 5's soundtrack was so epic. It was so ignored just because the game wasn't good enough. Go listen to it and you'll see what I mean
