Red Dead Redemption is better than GTA V imo. The story was much better, the graphics were amazing, all the characters were all unique in their own way (Second only to Bully), and the multiplayer has never erased my stats.
My favourite game of all time. I had such an emotional investment in the characters, especially John Marston and [SPOILER ALERT] was genuinely cut-up upon his death, even though I knew it was coming. No game before or since has affected me as much as Red Dead Redemption, and its successor on the PS4 and Xbox One has very big boots to fill... I can't wait to play it.
You might also like 'The Proposition' & 'The Road' both made by the above director John Hillcoat. I'm guessing that RDR was loosely based on 'The Proposition'. Both of these films are very violently depressing.
GTA 5 is definitely a fun game, but I don't see how at gets as much live as it does. It's not a game to play day after day, for it gets boring after 2 hours or so. RDR is the sandbox I've been looking for. A great, refreshing game that stays exciting hour after hour. Overall, RDR is 100 times better.
Yeah! It sorta has more soul than of the GTA games. I'm hoping for a third game in the series... Red Dead Revenge or something. That zombie crap was bullshit!
Never played what? Undead Nightmare? DON'T! There are like 14 missions which all are cutscene dialogue and, I dunno, 20 settlements and towns infested with zombies and you have to clear them out. Sometimes they get re-infested so you have to clear them again while working on clearing all places. Much like the territorial warfare stuff in GTA San Andreas. Major pain in the ass. And that's the entire game! A mockery of such a great game as RDR. Oh yeah, there are also zombies and zombie animals everywhere between the places you are to clear. And you have very little ammo!
Fuqu Pal undead nightmare was awesome. This is coming from someone who's favourite game ever is Red Dead Redemption. It was Red Dead Redemption with survival horror elements, sounds like you've never played games like resident evil or silent hill or any survival horror game for that matter...and it was a dlc, not meant to be rich in content like the original. Undead Nightmare was an amazing bonus to us Red Dead Redemption players. Quit bitching.
"John". just watched the short film with my in-law, here in Phoenix. it's awesome. see you next week. hope you're not freezing your ass off! so nice here.
They literally aired this on FOX two weeks after the games release. A machinima airing on a major network like FOX, and it was Read Dead, what a time to be alive it was.
here on the night of red dead redemption 2 release, can’t believe it’s been 8 years, i’m 21 now and just started my masters and remember playing this when i was just 13. time flies man, hope everyone makes some more great memories with rdr 2
After I got jenny medicine I hogtied her, put her on my horse, and took her back to Armadillo, then it looked like she went about her business as usual. Then 5 minutes later some dude tried stealing my horse, so I hogtied him, put him on my horse, then took him out into the middle of nowhere and put animal bait on him. Shortly after wolves showed up, and I left him there.
Who else would like a prequel, so that we can see how john got his scars, where he was shot and captured by edgar, how he met dutch, how he met abagail, and so much more! Rockstar needs to make a prequel/sequel, and i dont know why they havent yet! Everyone wants one, and they would make so much money off of it. #makerdr2
Intell289 i always tought John got his scars fighting a wild animal like a bear or something, kind of like how wild Bill got his reputation when he was a young man.
Beautifully done mix of the various cut scenes and riding around. Interesting how John put the old mansion basement and interior battle in Tumbleweed into the fight at the fort. Their decor don't match, but it still works. Not sure how he got Williamson to appear for a shot in the basement though. I believe Jenny, the girl in the desert (which I got medicine for, but she never drank it), is one of the first plague victims that causes the Undead Nightmare situation.
Phaota, I know it's late lol but they got the Bill scenes in the basement with the multiplayer mode. In multiplayer, you can play as Bill, so they just went online and had someone play as Bill and someone else play as Marston.
Rock Star need another prequel/sequel to this. Not another online modern day gang simulator (GTA) with tons of screaming kids and abusing teens. Pleas R*
when red dead redemption came out, it was full of screaming kids and abusive teens. But it was still fun because it was more skill based then gta, which consists of spraying and praying. The only full auto weapon you could wield that was full auto was the Mauser (the semi-auto pistols and shotguns could also be considered spray and pray), so all other weapons had to be accurate shots to the head if you wanted a high DPS. But really I just miss the world with the soundtrack (and undead nightmare).
+Jaguar Saxophone Rockstar knew the Mauser was the spray and pray too, which is why they gimped it in online play unless you could pull the trigger like a mad man.
Tyler Wisner True, but there was still the browning 1911. I didn't really kill that many people. I'd rather do Co op then a free for all, or get my friends in a pose and take over a town or the Mexican fort with the cannons. But I'm waiting for the Xbox ones backwards compatibility for RDR, so I could do it again. But I have a theory it won't be so fun, rockstar's games were one of the first I played where you didn't have a direct goal to kill another player. It for some reason brought a bunch immersion into it, but then I've been ruined by the recent spurt of survival open world games. Killing someone for no reason doesn't sound fun anymore. Just a theory.
The godray-effects of the sunlight in RDR are absolutely amazing and almost feels ahead of its time and hardware. Many of the heaviest ENBs for Skryim employ the same effect.
Just imagine the Graphics and scenery on the XB1 + PS4 + PC whenever R* makes the next "Red Dead ---" It'll be astonishing and breath taking with it's terrain.
Bonnie was my favorite character John met, and i always felt sort of sad when John never encountered the early characters again after they helped him. Amazing game by Rockstar.
It's been 7 years and it is still the greatest game of all time. It's amazing how this game hasn't even aged. It was far ahead of it's time when it was first released. And now RDR 2 is coming. Can't even begin to imagine how amazing it's going to be.
Can we all agree Rockstar Games is the best gaming company next to Valve? Thank god we still have gaming companies who actually want to make good games for us unlike companies like EA and Ubisoft. You guys are the real MVPs.
Id like a prequel because red dead ended right before the mafia era with al Capone and such. But I don't want to play as John Marston in the early days because we already know how it ends. We should get a new character with a cameo of John and his gang, like when he gets shot, but nothing more. That would be cool.
Depending on how close they want to keep to redemption they could set one in Australia's eqivalent of the Wild West. If you know much about australian history you would know how awesome our version of the west was. Our outlaws were called bush Rangers and the most famous one was ned Kelly and his gang, who made suits of armours in the australian bush and robbed banks. Also our animals are so much cooler. If you're skeptical read a bit about Ned Kelly's story and that time period.
xXrapid4xtouchXx The out back is towards the red centre of Australia, if you go a bit closer to the sea you get what we call the bush. It is all eucalyptus and gum trees, it's actually really beautiful and full of the most unique animals in the world (google Australian bush land). Then around some areas next to the coast you get tropical rain forests, up in queens land which is top right of Australia it's a tropical paradise. Australia is a massive continent so of course we had a wild frontier and along with that comes the outlaw/wild west thing. Because of the unique and harsh condition the bush rangers (outlaws) learnt to survive some of the most dangerous animals on the planet. Arguably our most famous bush ranger was Ned Kelly and his gang. His story is way too long for me to tell but it is almost as if it had been constructed specifically for a video game, he also looked like a wild west action hero in real life. You should google his story (Wikipedia doesn't do a very good job at telling it). So altogether the Australian environment, which includes floods, droughts, bush fires that would burn entire towns to the ground, barren red desert, lush green forest and the coolest animals on the planet create the perfect setting and the stories of outlaws that are just waiting for a video adaption.
Very well put together. This game in its entirety feels as if you are in a western movie. I have yet to play the game, but it does carry an impressive cast of characters. Thanks for posting!
Does anybody who's played red dead notice the locations in different places. Like odd fellows rest in fort mercer and the inside of fort mercer in the tumbleweed mansion
Shadowrose3820 Ti's just an opinion, my friend. I like MMORPGs, but I also love RDR. I dislike most FPS games, so I stick to the other two and think they are better.
Fair enough. But like you said, just an opinion. I like MMORPG's. FFXIV ARR is the best right now. I like FPS even if I suck. I am a casual gamer. But RPG's are becoming my fave.
Wow, this looks so much better than the final version. Hell, this looks better than the Xbox one x 4k version. Insane graphics for 2010. A shame they butchered the dialogue though.
I stood up and cheered 5 time in this game. I never felt so engulfed in a story. When you kill the last guy and the screen flashes red dead redemption. BOMB!!!!!!!!!!
I've honestly lost count how many times I've completed this game. So damn good. I mean, I love The Last Of Us, that made me cry like a bitch too but damn..this game had such a unique setting to it and the ending is sad but perfect. One of my favourite games of ALL TIME.

The red dead storyline from Rockstar
I wouldn't say this is the best game in terms of how it plays or the lack of challenge, but it is definitely one of my favorite games because the characters and environment are so engrossing.
Prototype 2 is one thing only. Get mission-> Turn into soldier-> Enter facility-> consume target-> receive DNA-> done. With small variations like some times you may have to force your way out of the facility, gameplay is repetitve. IGN gave propably the best review ever, people actually agreed this time that the game is "forgettable fun". On the other hand...RDR is the exact opposite, everything happens for a reason. I remember all the faces and as you said, I support the main character.
Okay everyone forget a sequel of redemption for now because hopefully agent comes out first but what about a prequel where John marston is an actual outlaw. Where he does actual crime mission instead of helping the government by killing a bunch of dudes I think that would be the best way to continue using this universe And the name can be called red dead rewind. Or ROCKSTAR can take a shit and put it in a game case and it will still be the best game of the year
What I loved about this is there were no spoilers, no preconceptions, just me going into this game world with no idea of how it worked and playing the story, and the mexico bit completely surprised me :D
For big screen, this is (or at least was) available on the Xbox to download. The fact they only used maybe the first 1/3 or more of the game to make this is incredible.
I'm a 12 year old girl, and i have to say that this is the best game ever. Me and my little brother play it all the time. They should definitely make another Red Dead Redemption, besides the Undead Nightmare one. It would be cool to see Jack with his own family.
